They're the gift that keeps giving.

I saw a piece (maybe on Football Focus or something) months ago about a programme/enterprise/initiative(?) that allows free agents (and maybe amateurs) to play friendlies against clubs in the hopes of being spotted. I think they said they play games all over the country (and maybe beyond), often with just local players wherever they play. I can't remember the name of it now. Could have been Download FC, but I've just tried searching that and came up with nothing. Memory's a bit hazy , but I thought it was a decent idea, anyway. Now I think Download FC might be something else. Definitely heard of them not too long ago. I remember thinking about how awful the name is. Even if you like it, searching it brings up f all.

After his West Ham loan, his value was pretty high again, going into the last year of his contract. What did Man Utd do? Refuse to sell, promise him more game time, then carry on not playing him, lose him on a free. Excellent bit of business.

Not a question.

Incredible, isn't it? It's been posted in the transfer section, as well. I still can't get over it. Mediocre, my arse.

I doubt we'd be put off by those particular examples. I believe Kaputska was signed purely off the back off a World Cup/Euros, which isn't something we're in the habit of doing, Diabate was a next-to-no risk punt, and we never really got to see Benko's potential after injuries/personal problems derailed him. I think we probably would still sign cheaper, more obscure players if we felt they were good enough and available at a reasonable price, it's just that those players are rare and hard to find.

Wesley Fofana - He is no more - finished - forgotten.
Raw Dykes replied to Sly's topic in Transfer Talk
Fvck me. Where do you start with this? This seems to me like a case of someone not knowing the first thing about a player and just gambling on no-one calling him out on his shitty guess of an opinion. Lucky that he's chatting to someone equally as braindead. You'd have to think about spending £8m? Competition for Phil Jones? No words. I know it's stating the obvious, but Fofana walks into Man Utd's first team. That's not even a little bit contentious. I'd be gutted if they got him for £80m this summer. That would cancel out the Slabhead deal. -

You can see it means something. You just said it. -

0 chance he leaves for that little this summer. In one word: utterandtotalbollocks. -
What would you like to be hit by?

Attila Szalai, I think.

Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)

Thanks for this. I was about to go digging through old threads because that didn't seem right to me at all - I can remember Lookman being very late in the window and it being a complete surprise, as I hadn't seen any mention of him being linked before. -
I think every player in the first XI of the PL winning squad has to go down as a legend, really. Such a monumental achievement in sport. Will likely never be beaten. Not sure the same goes for the FA Cup in my book, but I wouldn't argue against Youri being regarded a legend.

I think someone said recently (maybe on this thread) that it's sold out on the website, but they were still able to get it in the shop.

I think we got our money back for Musa, but Slimani went to Lyon for free.

I once met up with some old mates in a country pub not far from MK. On the way home, I thought I'd have a drive around the town centre as I'd never been before. It was a proper torrential downpour at night, and I thought the place seemed pretty cool. I thought it was like being abroad somewhere. Been through it since during the day and it is a grade A tosshole.

Top 87% is pretty rubbish, isn't it? FWIW, I don't think he's a bad player, but we need a CB or two who can help us deal with set pieces better. Ake is not going to do that. He'll make the problem even worse, if anything. I think we should probably steer well clear. -
Back to Juve, I think.

At the risk of looking stupid, I have to ask what the pun is in reference to. -
There was a real sense that the wind was taken out of our sails at that moment. We already had a few injury problems at that time, but we were dominating that match. I was optimistic about the season ahead based on our performance up to that point. Then Wes's leg was snapped, and it just felt like the last straw. The atmosphere completely changed, as if the crowd knew we were going to struggle as a result of this. A real sickener, that one. In a pissing friendly, as well.

Will you ever give it a rest? By all accounts, Cags was offered a new contract a long time ago and never accepted it. He clearly has plans to leave, and has had them for a while. BR only dropped him after that recent Spurs game, and who in their right mind can blame him (other than you, of course)? I rate Cags, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him go on to become a great player elsewhere, but he has been in poor form here for about 18 months now, and he only has a year left on his contract. I hardly think BR is alone in being prepared to lose him. It would be daft not to sell him this summer, as he'll be leaving on a free next year. As for relying on Evans and Amartey, I think it's common knowledge that we're after a new CB. Whatever fits your agenda, though, eh?
