  1. People saying this reminds them of when we appointed Ranieri, it reminds me more of when we appointed Puel…
  2. Apparently we have a clear vision, but in just over a year we have appointed, or very nearly appointed: - Jesse Marsch - Rafa Benetiz - Dean Smith - Enzo Maresca - Graham Potter - Steve Cooper You'd struggle to get a more eclectic mix of football philosophies. It's a scattergun approach. Top wants us to play like Man City and god knows what Rudkin wants. It's why our recruitment so often doesn't match the system or style that we are using at that time.
  3. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jun/19/eicester-manager-talks-steve-cooper-graham-potter Steinberg in the Guardian, who was saying Potter was close last night, now saying it'll be Cooper.
  4. Turns out Potter isn't the Chosen One.
  5. I really like Corberan but Potter feels a safer bet due to his experience in the Premier League.
  6. Decent first few fixtures, but it's hard to know whether that run-in is good or bad. The March and April fixtures preceding it are horrific and the pressure could really be on going into those final 5 matches against potential relegation rivals. Luckily, we have a rich history of dealing with intense pressure in the final few weeks...
  7. Keep reading this, but what’s it based on other that they are English and have long faces?
  8. Just a bat shit crazy decision no matter how you dress it up. High chance that he’ll be too slow for the PL and a high chance that he won’t suit the new managers system as much as he did Maresca’s.
  9. With Huddersfield in the Championship he kept them up and then got them within a dodgy VAR decision of the Premier League by playing predominately pragmatic, counter attacking football. It’s true that his idealistic style is Guardiola inspired, but unlike Maresca he is willing to be flexible and adaptable depending on the situation.
  10. Re-signing Vestergaard regardless is a crazy decision.
  11. That’s a massive overreaction. He has the profile that could suit our predicament next season. First and foremost we need a manager that can galvanise and motivate. He’d have no problem with that part of the job.
  12. Corberán would be a good choice. He has the right pragmatism and motivational skills to suit a team fighting relegation.
  13. I feel pretty neutral really. There is a lot I like about him, but the football didn’t really resonate with me and I didn’t like some of his comments during the season. The main thing for me though is that he wouldn’t have changed much about his style, which had a high chance of ending in disaster in the Premier League. Perhaps not, but I’m fine with not taking that risk. I can’t blame him for wanting to get away from our hierarchy. Good luck to him.
  14. …because he relies on communication from agents and clearly Enzo’s agent is being very open that Enzo is available and wants to work in the Premier League.

    New Kit

    Only their ‘Elite’ clubs do.
  16. We won’t be signing anyone until July anyway because of PSR.
  17. We do know how Enzo will approach it, as he has stated on several occasions that he won't change his style of play in the Premier League. I'm not saying it's an identical situation to Burnley, but it's very similar and the warning signs are there. Enzo's belief (communicated via Balague) is that Burnley struggled, not because of the style, but because they stuck with the players that got them up, which just isn't true.
  18. I’m not saying change before it fails. I’m saying don’t back ourselves into a corner incase it fails.
  19. Just for the love of god don’t give him a new contract. The chance that his style doesn’t work with this squad in the PL is high and let’s not forgot how the fans turned on him after Plymouth, that will still be there bubbling under the surface. We can’t fall into the Rodgers trap. If we get to the winter and Maresca isn’t working and the fans have turned, we can’t lumber ourselves with a huge pay off. If a club wants him this summer, and he’s tempted, let him go, take the money and back yourself to hire someone else suitable.
  20. Cue £10m a year new contract. I’ve seen this before.
  21. It's not FBS and the PTT was a rumour started on here, not sure it's true.
  22. Third kit, certainly.
  23. Let’s hope this means we might see some changes higher up on the football side.
  24. Burnley didn’t stick with the players that got them promoted though, it’s a myth. They spent £100m. Of the team that started their last match only 4 were there last season. Even the team they picked on the opening day had 5 new signings.
  25. Not the kind of market we need to be looking in as he won’t be value for money.
