Page definitely didn’t help but if you look at the role Winks plays, (when he’s on it) he dictates the play way more than whoever is playing 10. I actually think we’re missing the combo of him and Wout in that respect. Okoli is a poor distributor and that’s compounded by not having a natural passer in CM.

He’s a workhorse but nothing more. We’d have had an easier game tonight if we had a couple of CMs capable of dictating play and could hold onto the ball - Winks is that player but he’s off / being phased out so we need someone else

I think you’re being kind. It was just a complete brain fart. Whether the LCB/LB has pace or not there’s no need for a goalkeeper to ever come rushing out of his box when the ball is that close to the touchline.

Honestly, people in here blaming (writing off) a manager who’s had no investment and has adopted a squad of players who think they’re better than they are after 3 competitive games. What do you expect? People talk about starting Monga - yeah maybe, but you can’t rely on a 16 year old. Starting Ayew or Daka is like choosing whether to wipe your arse with sandpaper or razor blades. What else can he do?

I don’t think he was particularly good last night, but it’s worth remembering that it was the first time he’s ever started for us. Despite him seemingly being around for quite a while, he’s actually played very little first team football for us or anyone. We need to give him the season. 1 goal in 14 last season suggests he’s not going to have the impact we all want him to, but to write him off after one poor game (where the whole team was pretty poor) is silly.

But clearly not enough if he didn’t bother to watch Hamza’s back catalogue of goals before making outrageous claims
