A question as to whether this is us preparing for a post-Maddison world…
-
I think he’s best in the middle but that would mean moving away from 433 which Rodgers seems to favour. Going to a 4231 would work but would mean that KDH would probably drop out (assuming he goes with Youri and one from Soumare / Ndidi)
-
Tete - not official yet but looks pretty certain
-
It will be interesting to see how Rodgers uses Maddison now that we have an actual right winger.
-
You’d think so although how many times have we seen clubs pull the plug on a deal because they couldn’t get a replacement over the line. Would be classic us. Theres been very little genuine noise about anyone other than Tete (and even that isn’t too credible) so I don’t hope we’ve not put all our eggs in one basket.
-
What has given you this impression? Because he has let his contract run down? - it’s his prerogative to do so if he thinks it opens up his options for the future.
-
Prefer Rodgers to be in charge 😂
-
Hmm, good point well made haha. Guess it shows how far we are behind the top teams and how important it is we beat the teams round the bottom/us.
-
What I don’t understand is how we went from looking like we were getting back to being more solid (pre WC) to the shambles we saw tonight (and most games post WC)
-
Anyone mentioned about him bringing Mendy on at 2-0 down?
-
I hope those chances are a wake up call but I know they won’t be

Wasteful maybe but often looked like one of our better players. -
Anyone got a stream? Struggling to find one now that Reddit soccer streams thread has been removed..

Better than conceding 2 in 2 minutes and going onto lose the game…
-
They’re pretty much set up for life by their mid twenties so you can understand it
-
I definitely can’t see that happening in January and we definitely wouldn’t entertain it. I’m also less concerned about this in general as I don’t think he’s got the X Factor / wow-factor that Fofana has. He’s a really good, competent defender who can bring the ball out and pass and he’s just what we needed, but he’s just not as flashy or eye catching as Fofana. I don’t think he’ll have as many suitors.
-
Regardless of whether this is premature or not, this sort of press is always a good thing. Helps to build confidence which has a knock on impact to performance and results. Really pleased he’s made a positive start.
-
In fairness, who do you drop in place of Praet. He did really well tonight but we can’t play 12…
-
The gap to West Ham already looks worrying. Only 6pts but can’t see where those 6 pts could come from.
-
Fair play to them. He did well last season and is well thought of. It’s hard to adapt to the premier league and harder still when you’re also trying to bed in 21 new players at once. Ultimately it might not work but it should at least put an end to the speculation about his role.

Corrected the typo.

Why though? Unless you're just using Maguire as an example then I seriously don't understand this - Maguire was professional through to the end with us and we got a great sum of money for him. Fofana was a c*ck and left us in such a weak position. I didn't celebrate him getting injured, but I certainly wasn't sad when we went off. I think I'd have felt much more sympathy if it was Maguire hobbling off.
-
Yeah I would agree that we shouldn’t be incompetent without a set piece coach and the incompetence is down to Rodgers ultimately. However, I wouldn’t expect Rodgers personally to have a huge influence on corner routines and innovative free kicks given his broader remit.
-
In fairness, it’s his one job. If he hadn’t made an impact in two weeks of doing the ONLY thing he is paid to do, it would be pretty embarrassing for him.
-
He’s not going to be the player we all want him to be. For all of his physical presence he lacks any agility / mobility. He doesn’t make up for that with his footballing brain. Fine against lower league opposition but no chance against top 10 quality midfielders.
