Who’s better? Spain? Yes, anyone else? No chance -

The only real barrier would be Spain. -

We easily could. There’s no outstanding teams in international football at the moment. Would just need a bit of in tournament momentum and when you look at our squad and management, we are top 3 in the world. -

Anderson is class, Forest academy churning out some great players. -
Which is fine, but surely then that legitimises the whole ‘blob’ and democracy argument. If the civil service is driving policy and not elected ministers, then we’re not a democracy.
-
This country is a joke how ministers can just move around posts. How can you ever have any long term planning or idea when you can just flip from Home Secretary to foreign Secretary?

Marinakis profits from Russia, it’s not a surprise.

In the same sense that Nigel Pearson wasn’t our greatest manager in terms of honours or records (he was). Brendan Rodgers is our worst manager, despite the honours, because the path he has set us upon has been so catastrophic. Peter Taylor was bad but not as bad as Rodgers, following up MON was going to be impossible in that era, but he obviously made a pigs ear of it.

Forgotten how good of a position we’re in in the championship. 21 points from our final 3 games will guarantee promotion. I would suggest the team in 3rd place won’t overtake what we already have but I want us to do it in style.

Almost as good as Bethell -
By the time they’d left Maine Road, it had already been redeveloped into a shell of what it previously was so I don’t think they missed it that much. The problem is that the best grounds were always the ones most likely to be inappropriate for modern times. Filbert street, baseball ground, Dell etc. Fratton park is the only one I can think of where redevelopment has been done well.

Iran is not a threat to anyone now. Azerbaijan have had a massive fallout with Russia and are a Turkey proxy which means no threat. Russia are balls deep in a war in Ukraine. North and South Korea tensions are cooling down. China is an economic powerhouse who are building a nuclear deterrent to back it up. Not a threat, highly doubt they’d risk it all by invading Taiwan or properly supporting Russia. Russia is a threat to us but is still constrained unless one side does something stupid which isn’t impossible. It’s all just posturing. The future is terrifying but there’s no ‘axis of evil’. Everyone has different priorities.

I just wish he’d show some principles in what he actually believes in rather than wishy washy whichever the way wind blows. He’s always chasing policy rather than making it.

Ideally a community hub should be built which can be opened up on match days for beers for adults and activities for the kids rather than outdoors, while offering activities for schools and people in the local community on non match days. But that would be far too simple.

Everton have done well with their change but I think they’ve taken the aesthetic thing seriously eg stands close, iconic location.

Farage isn’t even that good historically, the test will be for him, as he gets closer to power whether he’ll conform to the status quo or will genuinely chase ‘reform’ (not immigration based policy, but genuine economic reform in the uk). From the left I can only look on with envy that we don’t have a figure of the like who can play the field with a strong economic left wing approach, we get far too entwined with social policy. I thought the Gary Stevenson stuff might lead somewhere but he only likes book sales it seems.

They’d never grant Scotland another referendum. Irish unification on the other hand is inevitable, we might as well just let it happen now while enshrining the rights of British citizens of course, of which the Irish government would do.

I actually met him on a flight to Spain about this time last year and he told me straight up that he’d been struggling mentally so I hope it works out for him.

Where is Will Self these days? I kinda miss him. I remember when him and a more tame Peter Hitchens were the most controversial mainstream pundits.

Nah this country on domestic level in particular has lost its marbles. At least in France when they’re protesting on the streets, it’s about meaningful stuff. We just spend our time arguing about insane stuff that means absolutely nothing of any great significance (flags, trans people, hotels). INSANE.
-
This country has always been a bit unhinged post 2010 but I think we’ve truly and completely gone off the deep end.
