  1. Am I the only one who finds it weird, to the point of being slightly uncomfortable, that we've got 15-year-olds playing at the top level of professional sport? I'm as excited as anyone by him as a player and I think it's vital for the future of the club that there is a clear, viable pathway from the academy to the first-team. You can also tell from watching him that he's good enough and he's not just been thrown in there as a novelty. I just think of myself and my friends at that age and wonder how on earth it can be a good idea to subject even the most level-headed GCSE student to the insanity that is professional football, with all the money, pressure, scrutiny and everything else it entails. He is a child - instinctively something about it feels wrong to me, and not just that it makes me feel old.
  2. That is an unreal goal. Vitinha is a wonderful player
  3. The strongest evidence for him being the "good talker" he's regularly described as is that he's somehow convinced people he shouldn't be one of the first out of the door. I'm sure he's very nice and a top bloke to have around the place, but in his capacity as a footballer he has contributed almost nothing in his two seasons here and is on a frankly insane wage relative to his ability if reports are to be believed. Much as I'd love to see the back of them as well, at least Faes and Vestergaard are decent enough on the ball to be somewhat useful in a possession-based team if that's the route we're going down. Coady is essentially a cheerleader who excels only at pointing and shouting.
  4. Relegation was confirmed nearly six weeks ago and had been a foregone conclusion for a long time before that. How can they not have discussed the manager's future with him? I think we are all well used to the club doing the absolute bare minimum in basically every department but even by their own low standards this is an exceptional bit of work.
  5. I really like him as well, his podcast with David O'Doherty is brilliant. Even accounting for differing tastes, he's so inoffensive and I've never been entirely sure what it is about him that winds people up.
  6. We've seen him in that league ourselves recently and maybe I'm being harsh but my memory is that he was pretty unremarkable. The feckless nature of our team this season has got people pining for players who charge about, dive into tackles and demonstrate pashun which I accept isn't totally unreasonable.
  7. Sacked by Christmas apparently - presumably the paperwork is just taking a lot longer than expected
  8. I'm not sure that's necessarily the case. To pick a few examples from the opposite end of the spectrum, are managers like Dyche, Allardyce and Pulis really any less wedded to their methods than Enzo or Martin?
  9. I love him. At his best I think he was one of the best full backs in the league, if not the world. If I remember correctly there was a run under Puel where he played three different positions in as many games and was our best player in all of them. I also remember the match thread when he made his debut and, presumably because they'd become used to Simpson being so conservative, some people were absolutely bewildered by how attacking and positive he was.
  10. Arrived at Wednesday as the EFL's youngest manager with them at rock bottom after their worst ever start to a Championship campaign, kept them up and then had them outside contenders for the playoffs for most of this season. Not under the easiest of circumstances either, particularly for someone in their first job in management, with multiple registration embargoes and players not being paid.
  11. It's a plan that recent history tells us a) a significant portion of the fanbase, whether justified or not, will never get behind and b) has a very good chance of unravelling in spectacular fashion upon contact with the Premier League, should it take us that far which is no guarantee. I don't think it's the very worst appointment we could make but it's one I would struggle to muster any enthusiasm for whatsoever and would do very little to dispel either the general feeling of misery around the club or the sense that the people running it do so with as little effort and imagination as possible.
  12. One assist in his first season, for Barnes in a 1-1 draw at Leeds
  13. Flekken off to Leverkusen apparently so have to assume Brentford will indeed be in the market for a keeper
  14. I think I'd rather have Winks as manager with his newborn child as assistant
  15. Without knowing the specifics of what went on, I think he's probably within his rights - no matter how much he earns or how good the facilities are - to say he'd rather go back home to his family after work than stay over at the training ground. In turn, Ruud is also within his rights to drop him if he feels that's indicative of a lack of commitment or that it impacts his ability to properly prepare for games. Given the choice I know who I'd rather have involved with the team next season.
  16. I would be amazed if he stays. Numbers weren't great last season but then they're not likely to be, are they? He looks up and sees the dynamic attacking force of Jordan Ayew, Kasey McAteer and an old man, turns around for a bit of assistance and he's got a rotating cast of the world's least creative midfielders plodding about behind him. You could replace him with prime Ozil or KDB but if the rest of the team physically can't move the ball up the pitch without giving it away, they're probably not going to be topping the assists table either. In the Southampton and Ipswich games nobody could get near him which probably tells you something about how he'd fare coming up against even worse opposition every week. I think he's got no business at all playing in the Championship and I suspect he agrees.
  17. Short(ish) version is his dribbling and chance creation numbers at Genk were very impressive for someone his age, which is presumably why we bought him. Thinks it's difficult to judge him for us because we're so wank. Positives: great dribbling and ball control, difficult to get the ball off despite not being enormously quick. The guy reckons he's physical, intelligent and hard-working enough to play as an 8 which is effectively what he spent much of this season doing anyway. Negatives: passing inconsistent and gives the ball away often, not great at crossing or shooting, sometimes slows the game down too much through lack of awareness/anticipation. Also some biomechanics chat, the veracity of which I could not tell you. Conclusion: a "top talent that's worth buying" but not ready to be a regular starter for a top team.
  18. The amount of people who regurgitate bullshit football rumours they've seen online/heard down the pub but always have to preface them with "I've heard" or "I've been told" to make it sound like they've got some kind of exclusive scoop from their anonymous insider source
  19. I couldn't tell you in any great detail exactly what they've done but I can tell you with some certainty that a) they are putting their own time, money and effort into trying to make supporting Leicester more enjoyable and b) you are a bellend. Hope that helps
  20. I don't really care. I want to see us create chances, score goals and win games and it's not massively important to me whether we do that by passing the opposition to death or sitting deep and getting it launched. If it works and the players buy in then I will buy in too - I'm not going to be sat here foaming at the mouth because we're succeeding but we're not succeeding in the way I think we should.
  21. He's so shit. I was under the impression when we signed him he was the sort of midfielder that drives forward with the ball and progresses the team up the pitch. What he actually does is play one touch, no effort passes back to a defender in a much worse position than him so he doesn't have to take the responsibility himself. The one exception today was when he did try to carry the ball out of our own box, got tackled and they immediately scored. Either the pace of English football is just way too much for him or he is utterly, utterly thick.
  22. Yes mate I think you made that point well enough with your previous 500 posts on the topic
  23. Every minute that passes without his sacking being announced is a fresh disappointment
  24. Lovely stuff in the build up though #Russball
  25. Almost as stupid as looking at a poster with an Arsenal avatar called Torquay Gunner and thinking he's a Leicester supporter
