If the fee is over 60 mil I will laugh, as he’s worth nowhere near that, appalling offensively, crossing isn’t great, and defensively isn’t a top end player worth 60 mil and reported 170 grand a week 😂. Not a bad player, but nothing special either
-
We should have invested in the January window, especially offensively as we was in a very strong position.

Your right the infrastructure is a massive draw for players, and with the training ground hopefully up and running, and Rodgers has proven his potential first half the season with a youngish squad with potential, mixed in with a over paid squad of average players, now is a great time for Rodgers to attract his choice of young talent, and not break the bank, but get rid of a lot of deadwood draining the wage bill. Competition for places is not a what we have luxury of, and this squad has been consistently inconsistent since winning the league, and is in desperate need of improvement and freshening up, to avoid another manager joining the list that preceded him. Let him have his own players, and be judged on his team

James Maddison - 4 year deal, £110k per week

Agree, we always seem to offer silly money, but I suppose that is all we have to offer him over champions league sides who are allegedly interested in him. Agree he’s no where near the quality of Ricardo and no where as important as wilf yet, so maybe time to offer them terms to keep them board at the club, as players soon get the hump if fellow starters are paid vastly more than them, without being more influential than them -

Puts the club on in a good position if big clubs come calling, similar to mahrez, well done lcfc 👍 -
At the age he’s at it is time to bring in a younger striker who can get his goals. Yes he’s got the golden boot, but we are too reliant on him, and he is now prone to injuries and periods of poor form, as we have seen, I do believe his poor form had something to do with injuries, I did hear rumours he played a lot of the season with pain relief injections. As he ages he is going to be out for periods, and we have no real goal scorer to cover the loss of his goals, Perez definitely not, nacho maybe, slimani maybe but out of favour. Rodgers style is to bring a young talent on board, and now is a great time, as I think vardy has one more full season in him, in my opinion, let’s give the striker time to settle and as vardy ages, push him out the team. To be a successful team all players in all positions need to be being pushed for their places, and we have very little quality in reserve, I would like everyone desperately trying to keep their place, and not nailed on to start every week like now, starting in goal, kasper has deserved to be dropped so many times, but ward isn’t up to it by the looks of it. Morgan, albrighton, Gray, Mendy if he signed a new deal, James, gezzell, and many more squad players and the poor quality squad players like these are taking up wages, without the quality to improve us, get them off the wage bill, and bring in players that can compete for the shirt.

Rodgers Rodgers he’s taking us to Europe Europe, you know the rest of the song. Brendan Rodgers blue white army. The man is great, start of the season he had us fighting for top spot, playing great football, if he gets rid of most of the squad, and players that let him down regularly, brings his own players in, I’m excited where he will take us, good manager, no need to change
-
Shouldn’t be starting every week, it’s to early, he’s not ready, great prospect but could do with not being relied on, rather used sparingly.
-
I will be honest I’m on holiday and haven’t really kept up to date on player news, it was said in a joking way, but will be surprised to see them here next season. Not that I’m overly fussed, if we get rumoured 80 mil Maddison, 60 mil chilwell I would sell them in a heartbeat, as both are good prospects, but nowhere near the ability to warrant that money, and may never be.
-
Can’t fault the effort against an average Man U side, it was lack of quality that saw us defeated. We need to clear out now the poor back up players if we want to do well in Europe and the league, as this squad has proved that they are not consistent enough to see out a full season just in the league. Time to thank the long serving players that are no longer good enough, and those that are not in Rodgers plans now, and get off the books poor/ average players that are bleeding the wage bill, without being good enough to step in. Rodgers seems to be looking, so can’t be arsed to comment on the seasons last whimper, come back next season stronger, which more talented players in reserve, and starting. Oh and bye bye Maddison and chilwell, not in the know but I think we all know how that’s going, injured for the end of a season with only a 7 week break, very convenient 😂

Things we have learned first half, kasper still can’t kick a ball, we have no quality back up in defence, and we always look a silly mistake from kaspers kick, or a defenders lack of quality away from conceding. We haven’t missed Barnes or Perez and there lack of composure or quality. Positive’s - vardy looks up for it, why hasn’t nacho been playing, great to see a striker not waste possession and put the defenders under pressure, wilf and hamza working hard. Pressure maguire, but still see us losing by a mistake

New manager boost which most managers get, and one of his last games they was losing 3-0 at half time and he said in interview that his players didn’t turn up, so I would argue that the new manager bounce was wearing off. In fairness to him, Watford is a bit of an exception, as he didn’t get time, which is looking more and more self inflicted.

Second season yes, we nearly got relegated. I have a lot of respect for what Claudio achieved, he achieved something that no other manager has ever done in our history, but I’m glad he was sacked, as because we looked nailed on to go down, and I wouldn’t have wanted that to taint the season before. The difference is just because a manager win something once, and has success it doesn’t mean they can’t be a failure, and I still wouldn’t want him back, same when O’Neil was rumoured. Referring back to Pearson that’s who you are comparing him to, he had success here and league one, and championship, for me that’s his level, a solid championship manager, but what has he achieved since leaving to come back here at the level we are now. He’s achieved being sacked, and it always seems to be surrounded in controversy, without improving sides. i have no ill feelings towards Pearson, I don’t care what happens in his career, or any other previous manager or player, I just care about lcfc now. Pearson’s ego appears to have a big ego, which will keep bringing the same results, allegedly had controversial runnings at Derby and signs non disclosure, signed a non disclosure here allegedly, fell out with the owner and players at Watford allegedly. Would I want or see a manager like him here, where there always seems to be controversy, on top of the **** off and die, strangling an opposing player, do I think he has the ability to progress us from where we are now, no to all in my opinion. Back to my original statement, taking all this into account, if anyone serious wants Pearson to replace Rodgers or even comes back, wants it for the love of Pearson not the club

Since being back in the premier league it would be interesting to see what our income from all competitions, and players sold v brought is equal too. Our owners are great but we haven’t spent big money really, replacing the big price tags out going, youri the only biggish money, but when maguire goes for 80 mil, Mahrez 60 mil, drinkwater was it 35 mil, we cannot say we have reinvested the money wisely, rather cheap over paid, average players. The owners are great but they have to much trust in the d.o.f, he’s signed of some shite signings, and given new overly generous contracts to players that do not warrant the wage they are on for their ability. Wages are killing us, for a bang average squad players, and paying most of highly paid players wages whilst out on loan, if we don’t want them get rid, allegedly we paid 75 % of slim and Silva wages at Monaco, if that’s true that is ridiculous
-
With the injuries and form, I cannot see anything past a heavy defeat here with our with our depleted sub standard defensive replacements, europa league it is, still an achievement
-
I can think of a lot worse 😂, I haven’t got a clue what he’s been like in the past, I couldn’t tell you wether he’s normally good, bad or average, but not to get a couple of games a year, be thrown into a defence that doesn’t normally play together isn’t easy. He’s looked awful yes, so has Evans with the makeshift defenders around him, so has half the side lately, so unless he’s always been awful, maybe your being a little harsh 😂
-
He has brought some rough ones in the past, but didn’t he find courtinio, saurez or how ever you spell it. All teams have some iffy signings, ffs we can’t stop buying shit players, paying them silly amounts of money, realise they are shit, loan them out and pay the majority of their wages still. Rodgers isn’t the worst recruiter in the game, but barring the odd gem, we as a club should hold our head in shame for the scandalous amount of money wasted in the transfer market.
-
Don’t know about our owners in private, vichai and top do not become successful businessmen, and build an empire without things done as they want it, and being ruthless in achieving it, but they do seem to do it in a nice way. From memory vichai and top were like the fan base with Pearson, very split, hence the sacking that happened then didn’t happen. Thing is with Pearson he can get himself sacked, just for being him, will he have to sign another non disclosure I wonder, like I’m led to believe he had to sign here and Derby. I’m not commenting on the Pearson thread again, before it was like him toxic, I wasted enough time on it years ago, and what’s the point, he will never work here again, and owners speak and he must be that toxic now it’s time to stick to his walking, as he’s unlikely to work anytime soon.
-
Ok he’s getting sacked for a reason, it might be his ego rubs up owners the wrong way, loses the dressing room for whatever reason, I don’t know Pearson, I don’t know anyone who does, so cannot comment on why he got sacked, but as our owners like him, he got sacked for failing there. Let’s put this another way, after being sacked here, what has he achieved as a manager, other than be sacked.
-
How’s Brian little doing since he’s left us
-
Is being sacked a success
-
The start of the season would achieving European football have been a success, and maybe even champions league. Rodgers was getting praise from everyone at the start of the season, and did amazing things with an average squad, and a decent starting 11, who he has had to rely on due to poor options in reserve. He’s not become a shit manager over night, and he now knows which players he can trust to follow instructions, the players who are right for him, and which players clearly need to move on, as we all know we have a lot of shite on big money here, which is affecting our ability to buy, not due to fees but a massive wage bill under the ffp rules. I have no doubt he will have a clear out, but young talented players, yes all might not work out, but we haven’t got a solid recent history in the transfer market, and with a stronger squad, he will be more consistent results wise, and maybe improve on a great league position with a cup, maybe
-
And on top of that he’s failed at derby, Watford, and a second rate Belgian league, did I miss any, as I’ve not followed any manager after they leave. He had quite a few rocky patches of results here, as well as a couple of promotions, in between being sacked, reinstated and sack again, and the sacking that never was. We have given the bloke loads of chances, we are now a bigger club, and should be employing managers with a better record in the top flight than Nigel Pearson. Rodgers is our man now, he’s had time to look at what he has and what he needs to achieve more success, because don’t let’s not forget at the start of the season we all would have been happy with europa league, and a one game shoot out on the last game of season for a champions league football again, we was just spoilt at the start of the season, how he got great things out of a average squad. Anyone who would seriously want Pearson back now is either on the wind up, or don’t want the best for the club
-
Barnes is usually that player, maybe Maddison at a push, one is injured, the other bang out of form. Barnes is making the occasional good run and dribble, but just runs into a blind alley or lacks quality. We knew at the start of the season how our squad lacked quality in depth, and we are paying for it. Rodgers has already been in the media about relying on players to much, and he’s finally looking at recruitment, I personally think he needs to clear the decks and have quality in reserve to rotate, not championship level players
-
Was just going to post something similar, I think some need to get over him, how many threads now every time he’s employed or sack, answer a lot. He deserves respect for what he achieved, but managers achieved more before him, and greater things after him, this love in is going on a bit. How’s O’Neil doing, how’s Claudio doing, oh i didn’t want to start another thread as they are past, hopefully Rodgers is going to be the future
