  1. I liked Paul Cooper, I sussed his penalty save technique and copied it to good effect / luck. Basically drift slightly more towards one post, hang both of your arms to that side like a gibbon and the taker will always go for the opposite side. Or laugh. Also cracked me up if he didn't get an offside decision he'd spend the next few minutes making glasses gestures at the linesman!
  2. McGinn on bake off tonight making a Swiss Roll
  3. Ironic, Cooper getting it both barrels
  4. At Forest Cooper seemed to build a siege mentality at home and turn the ground into a bear pit to reasonable effect but away they looked too easy to play against, whether it was the momentum of lack of belief and confidence I don't know, Whether you can associate that to a manager or whether it should be to his team at the time I'm not sure but home form Cooper was good with what he was given, away form just inevitable defeats and "lemmings off cliffs" predictability doing the same thing over and over. We're likely to be in a unique tough fight and he would have some merit for galvanising us at home but we need to be able to pick up away wins and not gain any negative momentum or reputation for continual capitulations, home form alone won't be enough.
  5. Going without a manager for a couple of months will have saved us 16.6% of our managerial salary budget for the year........
  6. re an accompanying statement / justifications, I found this on the official site, not really answering the "Why" but some attempt at comparisons with other clubs. What should really accompany such an announcement is a statement of how they've come to this decision, their justifications and explanations, the logic behind it and some hint of awareness that it's going to hit hard for a lot of people, even a token "We've had to make tough decisions, we appreciate your continued support through these tough economical times" which of course we'd all jump upon and criticise but at least try and show you're aware.
  7. I think it's quiet due to our target being involved in the Euro's. I did see a roll of tartan fabric being used to re-cover seats in the managers office the other day
  8. Factor in also the official re-sale's from STH's, for example if someone can't make a category A fixture in J1 the club will sell the seat for £72, they will receive 1/19th of the Season ticket price, the club keep the rest. With a these variables we need some help to work out the increased revenue this will achieve.....
  9. For comparisons sake here’s last seasons and this seasons prices. The individual rises and the percentage rises would be interesting / shocking (I’d do them but have a hay fever headache!) For such a swing I’d expect it to be accompanied by a club statement where they’d try to justify it - First significantly big rise for a few years, compare us to others, it’s a different division, we’ve been undercharging for years and need to become more realistic to maximise income and beat FFP etc etc Yada yada waffle swaffle. Hard to estimate how much extra it brings in per game as don’t know season Vs match day ticket numbers per stand or capacity per stand. As others say if you get to say 7 games that’s an equivalent of another £5 per match for your membership to factor in.
  10. I see that the Sunday 18th May v Ipswich is due to a new ruling / policy of having the F.A. Cup Final on the penultimate Saturday with no PL games that day or on the Friday. That's presuming we're not in it!
  11. I would rather the home games v Ipswich and Southampton, without being too presumptuous about winning them, came earlier in the season or were more spread out, one in the bag is worth two in the bush or whatever, it's OK plotting on paper that you're going to steamroll through May and win those pressure games, I'd rather have the opportunity earlier to get the points. They're potentially your two "easiest" games and most other clubs will have had them by then so we'll be playing catch up in those instances. It'll be good for the neutral, it's almost as if it was contrived to be that way.....
  12. We're at a distinct disadvantage in that we're the only club that don't get to play Leicester twice
  13. Was that the same sport as the England v Serbia game? It was bright, lively, enjoyable, players tried to find players in the same coloured shirt. What strange game is this .
  14. Still can’t get used to this darker Belgium kit. It’s smart in it’s own right but I just keep thinking of Portugal
  15. No Worries, we're going for a thread page-length record so every contribution helps!
  16. Fabregas spoke some sense about Foden and Trent playing some careless long balls rather than keeping it but I noticed in the 2nd half a lack of players making themselves available, most times we were lucky if there was one man showing for it and when that happens it’s telegraphed to the opposition where it’s going. That unselfish movement off the ball, being brave enough to want it in tight areas is going to be essential, you can’t just hope someone else will do it you bust a gut to make yourself an option.
  17. Well done Bowen that was super, smashing, great
  18. Your goalkeeper has been as effective as hanging a sheet of cling film from the cross bar to prevent goals going in…….do you consider selecting him for the 26th f***ing consecutive time?
  19. My order is usually:- First game (ideally home) / First home game Last game “We might (will) need a result” Boxing day (Don’t know why as there’s no transport from my tin pot town on that day but it used to be relevant. If Amazon are showing it I can at least picture myself watching it at home with a Turkey roll buffet and a chocolate Orange) Game nearest to birthday (although this can be F.A.Cup 3rd Round) Game on likely Record Store Day weekend as I do the overnight camp out with no sleep so would prefer it to be an away that I can’t get to rather than go 2 days without sleep to see the home game. London away games - I can easily get to these but as I don’t have many away points I won’t necessarily be able to get a ticket but hey that’s fair enough when others travel far and wide for every away game. Forest At home Chelsea at home this season Ipswich at home because my train will be full of Ipswich fans unless they travel up by tractor Games that clash with gig tickets. Games that clash with Wedding dates (I’ll just leave her standing at the Altar) It’s basically an order of play that will be announced, the dates and times won’t be. “The dates and times”, my real hope is for 9 or more Saturday 3 O’Clock but we won’t know that until next May. You really wanted my life story when you asked that simple question didn’t you!
  20. Sad to hear this news, I remember his final game so well, there was an electricity around the ground, a mutual appreciation and you could see it meant a lot to him. We had really bonded, not just because of his ability but application and effort. It had been the perfect loan scenario all round, we benefited from his contribution, he gained game experience and sharpness to benefit him going on, Arsenal benefitted from that too, it was a great fit all round. I’d say to the younger fans who missed him there were some parallels with a young Heskey, despite being a decent sized strong unit he could move quickly and fluently with pace and strength and for his age seemed un-phased and wise beyond his years, dynamic, exciting, electric, explosive yet composed, you’d expect to be receiving something raw, his enthusiasm was but his game was polished and pretty complete already. Those were the key things for me, “so good for someone so young” and being a powerful strong CF who could move so well at pace with the ball. Our clubs relationship with him will continue, in our minds and hearts, he “got” us, the club , and we let him know we could see that, the young man’s attitude served him well in his long career at the top, a credit to the profession, RIP Kevin.
