We scored nine goals against these last season.

Assuming Facundo is on the right and Bilal is down the middle, I think there's a strong argument that that's the best configuration of our players. Fatawu just hasn't really clicked yet this year and I think I woulr play Facundo instead? Its close to what I'd say our best 11 is with this formation. I'd have JJ left and Ricardo right but otherwise...

For months and months the defence of Brendan Rodgers was "who would we replace him with" and "who is better that would come here." Then Villa, in an objectively worse position than we were in having narrowly avoided relegation and with a largely shit squad, poached Unai Emery. Then it was "but our board won't ever get the recruitment right" and "we'll just end up with Rafa Benitez" and we went completely left field and wound up with Enzo Maresca. There are absolutely better managers than Cooper out there and we absolutely could find and recruit them. We just largely ****ed it up this time, presumably because we felt panicked by the timing of it and aware of the major pending financial troubles we still had to navigate. -
No way. Absolutely guarantee he drinks PG Tips that he "brews" for about fifteen seconds. Three sugars and far too much milk.

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

I got a big chunk of the way through the story and realised I'd unlocked pretty much all the major content so spent probably about 20+ hours just grinding and building my character. Realised yesterday I still had MSQ to complete so just blitzed through it. Funny really because my experience with the game at launch was pretty much did the main story then dropped it. Kinda the complete opposite with 2.0.

You stopped reading at that point didn't you? I understand, I write a lot of complete waffle, I'd probably skip most of it too. But then I might not also throw sass. -
It's gotten worse. The only thing he's won in club management since leaving Man City is one Turkish Cup. He hasn't kept up with the evolution of the game over the last decade at all. He'd be a really regressive bit of recruitment now.

Bit surprised this hasn't been bumped. I assume I'm not the only one Quilling my way through 2.0
-
No it wouldn't. He was pretty average in club management and his managerial style is very, very defensively orientated.

It should go without being said that I'd be personally delighted if we had a successful Welsh manager at the club. I'd love it if he turned all of this around and went on a run of not just winning games but actively improving the players and the football we play at the same time. I've called for his head probably more than anyone but I'd be the first to put my hand up and admit it if he was doing well. But my expectations for this squad are higher than just winning a couple of games against other terrible teams. A lot of the bottom half are absolutely dreadful this year, we shouldn't be satisfied just because he's scraping enough points together with anti-football to keep us around 15th/16th. I accept survival at all costs to an extent, especially because if we get through this season largely unscathed we should be in a significantly stronger financial position next year. But I just think a lot of the people defending Cooper and patting themselves on the back for being great supporters for doing so are ironically hugely under-rating the players of their own club. We've a much better squad than our performances and as long as that continues to be the trend then, yeah, I'll want him to go. He has talent he's completely wasting and if you want to be cynical about that it translates in to a lot of potentially valuable assets that he's depreciating by under-utilizing or poorly utilizing because he's so ill-equipped. TLDR: Wins against Forest and Soton would be nice but if you think that's sufficient enough to want him to stay, I really think you need to set the bar of expectation a tad higher. I'm not suggesting we should be top half or something wild but we should be showing good progress and currently we're regressing.- 407 replies

In fairness, I don't think even his harshest critics on here deny that Ayew is a pretty good defensive winger. The problem we have is that he's a dreadful attacking winger and that Mavididi and Fatawu are both significantly better than him in possession whilst also being very good defensive contributors themselves, making Ayew largely redundant even in games where we're the perceived underdog.

I don't think that's likely to be honest. The players just needed to be galvanised a bit, we were having a mini wobble and confidence and form had taken a bit of a hit. Individual mistakes were creeping in. Yeah, a more experienced manager might not have needed the help getting the squad refocused and composed but I do think that's all it was and I don't actually have ant issue with that coming from within the playing staff personally.

I'd rather Cooper ffs

Tbf you can get a high xG through volume. Quantity and quality will both influence the output. You'd want another metric that looked at the average xG per chance or whatever. It's possible his system created a lot of shots but not from ideal goal scoring positions.
-
Potter had Neal Maupay up front, didn't he? No team matches their xG playing Neal Maupay, he's too busy thinking up his next shit meme to bother aiming.
