Warming to the idea of a Southampton win tonight, Bournemouth play Everton on the final day so it'd be very handy for us to be level or above them both with our goal difference.

This does include Bournemouth losing to Southampton and Leeds so their loss would also be our gain, basically beat Everton and we should be outside the drop zone

If every single result goes against us before we play on Monday but we manage to beat Everton then the bottom looks like this... (All 2-1 scorelines) This made me feel a tad better somehow - there's no way they all get maximum points

Jesus, this resonated with me when I was skimming through just now. Every year no matter how good or bad we've been I've always felt we are capable of getting something from a singular game. The last few weeks or so I've completely written this game off as if it didn't even exist and I genuinely think it's down to Brendan telling me how bad we are all season, he really has stunk the club out. The most annoying thing is, the first time he said something along the lines of "We'll do well to get 40 points" it was just to save his own arse after bizarre decisions leading to a bad start. Brendan has killed all belief that I'm hoping Dean can resurrect, we are bloody good enough! Sorry to use your post for my rant but as I read it I thought "That's a bloody good point" - I realise I could've just liked it

I’m reasonably pleased with this to be honest. I think we’ll see some vast changes to formation, style of play and especially motivation levels that will see us take it to the wire. Soyuncu potentially back in, Iheanacho firing them in etc. if we get behind them we could genuinely get ourselves out of trouble - I’m staying optimistic, keep the faith!

I’ve absolutely convinced myself that we’re staying up, whether it’s Jesse or the team or luck or whatever I’m backing him 100%. Our players are good enough to stay up therefore I’m behind them until it’s impossible. UP THE BOYS

That's just not true though, we could draw against Bournemouth, lose to Man City and beat Wolves and there would still be teams close to us points wise. It'll be close for the next 4 or 5 games unless we lose every single one of them. If we set up the same as Tuesday then I don't think we'll pick up many points but if we draw at the weekend then get a new manager in then I think we've still got a fighting chance.

I didn't think we were quite as bad as some people are making out against Villa, there was definitely more effort and determination but ultimately I think we just set up quite negatively and will hopefully learn not to do that again. We aren't great but there's 7 other teams that also aren't great, therefore it is much easier to get ourselves out of this situation than most other years, if we pick up points then it's guaranteed that not everyone can pull away from us, it'll go on for many more weeks just because of the sheer amount of teams down and around us. A good positive, motivating appointment is paramount to us staying up cause we ain't down yet, nowhere near it! Beat Bournemouth, appoint a manager and ride a positive wave, we can bloody do it.
