2026/27 Fixture Release - 25th June, 12pm BST
Merchant_Banker replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
The two other relegated sides plus Luton. I think they were on a bit of a roll at the time nd of last season. I haven’t checked, so might be wrong. 😀 -
Even worse we’ll end up losing to Forest U21s
-
2 goals, 3 assists last season, what am I missing?
-
He must go. It is his attitude, along with players like Faes, Kristiansen, Ayew and Vestergard that destroyed the morale last season and contributed to the relegation. He must not be allowed to poison the young players and new players we bring in.

No, he’s far too good for League One.😀 -
No, he will get another loan away with us paying most of his wages.

Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager

The problem was he said the squad needed a major rebuild then he found out the club had no money. So he had just told the players they weren’t good enough then had try to get a performance out of them. 🙁 -

I thought being up Top was Rudkins job. 😒 -

I am wondering about the narrative here. I get the impression from some sources that there was no other prospect than Martin, but on the other hand others are reporting that Jack Wilshire turned us down. If the latter is true then we were looking at progressive young managers. -
You’re making the same point I was trying to make. As per my last sentence, when everything is in his favour he can look good, when the pressure comes on he disappears.

It was ‘big energy’ that kept annoying me. 😕 -
I think he can be one of our best players when he is in the mood and playing in the right system and has the right players around him and has a manager who will put up with him. Otherwise he is a waste of space.
-
Not sure Hutchinson, Otchere and Briggs have done enough to say they should get a proper chance, wouldn’t they be better going on loan?
-
The build up to some of those goals was quite direct, maybe he can go back to something like that.
-
I suspect it was the repetition that was intended to make the point.😀

You could make a fair L1/L2 side from Academy players who were on loan or who played for us in the Championship. Stolarcyk Aluko Nelson Wilson-Brown L. Thomas Braybrooke Cartwright Joseph Page Alves Evans Might even avoid another relegation! 😀 -
I think a lot of us had this problem. We turned our noses up at managers who, now, wouldn’t even consider us.

Harry Winks (gone to Cagliari, official)

No one will take him if they have to pay a fee as well as the wages he will want. Best case we give him away, worst case we have to loan him out and pay a large part of his wages. Either way we don’t want him near the squad poisoning the rest of them. -

I know I am being pedantic here, but you can’t have an assist as the last kick of the game. If it is an assist then the goal must have come after. Sorry -

Agreed, but we are in League 1, so it will be a long time before we have to worry about a European standard midfield. I am still excited to see how they perform next season. -

It makes sense for the player and loaning club if the club don't want to pay all of his wages. -

Seen comments saying SPL is equivalent to League 1, so should be close. -
The team this season didn’t give a Fuchs, so not sure that is a good idea. 😕
-
He’s a fantastic player. I can see him being amazing for them. They will be so lucky to get him. 🤞
-
Not convinced he would be calling anyone out in public. He seemed more diplomatic than that. I would think he could get things done without creating waves. Still not sure I would want him to risk his reputation here though.
