The worry is that the starting XI will burn themselves out with this high press and Maresca won't trust his bench and bring on fresh legs. It's what happened v Ipswich at home where we ended up getting deeper and deeper after McKenna freshened his team up with numerous subs before we conceded the late equaliser.

Yep. We've created 130 big chances already this season, comfortably more than any other team and already 25 more than Burnley managed over 46 games in winning the league last season. We've also missed the most big chances, 75. That equates to a 42% conversion rate. Interestingly, given that most people (including me) thought we were fortunate to win on Saturday, according to the official stats for the game, we created 5 big chances to West Brom's 2.

Plus, some of the fees he is expecting to get look very optimistic to me.

I get how you have managed things well in this FY, but if you get promoted, won't all the loan players return, bloating your squad with players who failed in the PL last time and who you don't really want, whilst adding significantly to your wage bill (as they will presumably be on PL wages)? Or am I missing something.
-
Yeah, but didn't quite a few of those leave on loan and therefore will be back on your wage bill for next season on PL wages?
-
Agree. Arrogance without the ability to back it up is a very bad combo. When he came here we were told he was a leader (think he was captain at Reims) but there's been no evidence of that since he joined us.

The inverted full back tactic inherently leaves us exposed on the right side of our defence. For most of this season, however, we've managed that risk quite well through Faes playing almost as a RB when we are in possession. More recently, though, we've seen not only the inverted full back high up the pitch but Faes looking to replicate the overlapping centre back role seen at Sheff U under Chris Wilder. That then leaves an absolute chasm of space for the oppo to exploit if they turn over possession. Whether Faes is going rogue, or has been instructed to do this by Enzo to give us an overload, this madness needs to stop now. Pretty sure that if Coady is brought into the team in place of Faes, he will be staying back and covering the RB space, assuming Enzo sticks with the inverted full back.

He's a massive F*rest fan. Say no more.

Based on the ratings from the Sofa Score app, which I think are from Opta and therefore entirely stats based, and selecting an XI which is balanced in midfield and attack eg not playing only attacking or left sided CMs, the XI of the season is: Johansson Walker Peters Harwood-Bellis Greaves Davis Sheaf Azaz KDH Sara Armstrong Summerville I've included Sara as a right sided attacker as that is now where he is playing for Norwich. Otherwise, Fatawu is the highest rated right sided attacker in the league - not surprising as he has created more big chances than any other player in the league.
-
Archie Gray won about 5 awards on his own!
-
Totally. His numbers are ridiculous for a player in a team in the bottom half. Much more deserving that Summerville. In a similar vein, how did Rutter get in the team of the year ahead of Adam Armstrong, who has basically twice as many goals and assists. Leeds have done very well in these awards overall.

That's what the presenter said when questioning Walcott about it. Totally disrespectful.
-
Heard Walcott on the radio the other week basically saying Arsenal threw away the title that season - after all, they were just a mere 10 points behind us at the end. Idiot.
-
Really pleased for Emery. Was treated appallingly at Arsenal. This will be a very sweet win for him. What a job he has done at Villa.
-
I'm assuming Enzo tells him to burst forwards, but it seems madness to me. Given we play without a conventional RB when in possession, surely the RCB should be told to cover the space vacated by the inverted RB? It's not like Vesty has the pace to get across quickly if required!

Just checked the score. Oh dear.... -
Sorry, just noticed that he is on your list anyway!

I just want to see us have a proper go at the remaining games. At least if we fail, let's go down fighting. Changes that I would make: 1. Ditch the inverted full back and play a conventional back 4; 2. Switch to 4411 with Nacho in behind Vardy. 3. Drop Faes and replace him with Coady to provide some proper leadership. None of this will happen of course. Fully expect an unchanged team next Saturday, except for Vardy in for Daka.
-
I rate Mads very highly but when did he last make a big save you wouldn't expect him to, to win us any points?
-
I'm thinking we will get a draw with West Brom, and then lose to Saints and Preston. If there is no chance of making the autos by the time of the Blackburn game, we'll win that one. If there is a chance, we will lose or draw at best. Even with Leeds slipping up again, I have zero confidence we have what it takes to make the top 2.
-
I'm not building up my hopes in this game. You just know that Leeds will get a breakthrough in the end.
-
It only works if you have rapid central defenders who can cover the huge spaces you leave behind the defensive line - and rapid CBs are something we certainly don't have!
-
What was the mood like in the away end? Angry, resigned, sad?
-
This! Millwall took advantage of the same issue. It is often compounded by Faes bombing forward from the right side of the back 3. If Faes loses the ball high up the field (which he does too often), this inverted full back nonsense leaves Ricardo marooned in midfield, so that we're basically left with only 2 defenders back to deal with a quick break - one of whom can't run. It's no wonder we're conceding chances to teams who have 20% possession against us.
