Great listen - some really good points on both sides. Jordan has softened my view on Cooper ever so slightly… My podcast appearance request is the man, the myth, the legend… Lee Philpott. I think he’s an agent now, so might have some interesting perspectives. -

At the moment he plays like Marko Futacs after a few joints, whereas I was expecting peak Mark De Vries -
Were that clinical - imagine if we created a decent number of chances we’d be scoring a bucket load.
-
Usually I would seriously question the validity of stories like this, particularly when it reflects a lot of our views, but it just makes so much sense. To think we had a better manager in the league below says it all really, and imagine what goes through your mind as a player.

Hopefully it makes all ST because that’s when I plan on getting some! -
Shame we never had Colin W anker, er I mean Neil Warnock
-
Toodle pip! Better than Cooper though. At least Puel had a plan that worked every now and then.
-
I’d honestly have Puel back in a flash. We played some very good football under him and he did the hard work that Rodger’s profited from. Yes it was dire towards the end, but it is with most managers - few leave on their own terms.
-
It could be professional pride that is seeing the players scrap and react to being second best and going behind in most games, as opposed to clear instructions and tactics from a coach who has a clear identity.

Ex Managers - They used to manage us

I think today marks the anniversary of Peter Taylor’s sacking. Shame we couldn’t add another one to todays date. -
If Palace’s streak goes on much longer and they get rid of Glasner, I could see him doing well here. I think we have many similar players to the profile of the Palace squad last season - particularly in wide areas - hahaha and I wasn’t thinking of Ayew when I said that. I think he’d get a tune out of us this season. In fact he’s binned Ayew off this year so if he came in he might get rid of him again.
-
Which one are you thinking, as there’s a few…
-
Knowing Rudkin he’d go and sign Lesley Titt from Brassic if he set out to get Tite
-
All this talk reminds me of the Micky Adam’s side that could score, but also couldn’t keep them out - and conceded a lot of late goals

Football in it's current version

Pep ball bores the hell out of me and verges on anti football. The modern big club is more about global capital than it is 11 blokes playing football. Players have too much power and money and a lot of them seem more interested in social media and their haircuts than playing. The match day experience at the likes of Man City is tailored towards the tourist. It’s so unbelievable naff and a joke. But one day those who experienced football pre 2005 (arbitrarily chosen) won’t be around and it will all become the norm and accepted. Really depressing… but at least we stuck one up at them all in 15-16 with our more modest approach. -
The need to sack Puel was clear, but he was appointed by Vichai and possibly Top didn’t identify with Puel very strongly. In contrast, Top appointed Rodger’s and he won the cup for Top and I think that led Top to keep him for way longer than he should have (cup was father’s dream etc). I would like to think Top doesn’t have that sense of loyalty to Cooper and he can make more of a pragmatic decision based on the fact that the Blooper has been shown to be total dog muck.
-
Exactly. We cannot waste a good run of games where can pick up points on Steve Blooper
-
He would have been more cut throat with Rodger’s and we’d still be in and around European places so we wouldn’t have got ourselves in this situation. But I think he’d get rid of Cooper in the here and now - the results and performances are one thing but he just doesn’t fit. We’ve gone up a league, but somehow got a poorer manager - I can’t imagine Vichai letting that happen. I Genuinely think Enzo with last season’s squad would do better than Cooper this season.

Much like the club in some ways
