Remember that he had already failed to have an unbroken long run post ACL so few clubs would have been prepared to take a chance on him (and certainly not at 80k+). There is no way we agreed a deal at a similar number to madders and 20k below vards given those background factors. He was on around 80k before and my assumption is that we wouldn’t have offered more than that on his extension. The above assumes some competence at board level.
