  1. There was an article in the Telegraph 2 days ago and it suggested a loan deal to Tah. So I wonder if the club might secure this whilst going for an outright purchase for Fofana. If we are hoping to have the flexibility of a back 3 it would be good to have them both alongside Evans and Soyuncu. Fofana is still only 19 and will need easing into the side IMO. I'm not sure why Tah had a loss of form but he looks like a powerful presence and has plenty of experience- I suspect he might have been useful against the likes of Chris Wood this week. Interestingly Tah is being partly kept out of the side by Dragovic - I always thought he was a decent player.
  2. I'm surprised that there hasn't been that much interest because he was the most exciting player in the England Under 21s a couple of years back and he has the ability to come in and change games. It is just the final pass that is lacking sometimes and it is a shame that his career hasn't gone up to the next level. Talk of 5 or 10 million is a bit of an insult when we are quoted £40 million or so for Brooks or McNeil. £15-20 million as a minimum is fair IMO. That might be enough to sort out the central defence or go someway towards another striker.
  3. Agree he is not really a winger but he works well in and around the box and is more skilful than some give him credit for. Had an influence in a couple of the goals. With Castagne and Under now providing more width hopefully we might see more of him centrally although there is a lot of competition with all the Belgian players looking good and Maddison slowly getting back.
  4. Telegraph mentions looking at a loan deal for Tah as Fofana transfer has "not been easy to complete".
  5. I remember ex boss Eddie Howe really liked Gray a couple of years back and I think there were rumours of an offer However I'm not sure Demarai would want a step down. Would not rule it out though.
  6. Just needs to look up and show some composure with his finishing - easier said than done of course Otherwise caused West Brom lot of problems - of course they knew a bit about him and they looked worried every time he ran with the ball. Good overall just frustrating to watch sometimes
  7. Intelligent classy energetic footballer comfortable in all areas of the pitch.First impressions- great signing
  8. John Percy seems to think we still have an interest in Brooks to bring "invention" to his squad. However in the same article he mentions we are £40 million down after dropping out of Champions League. I cannot see us taking the risk as Brooks has had injury problems but I think he is an excellent player. I think there is an assumption by some that we will be OK this year if we don't invest much because we should still manage a top half position with the squad we have.I think you need to be ambitious to stand still in this league and we have not even covered the basics in this window by sorting the defence out.
  9. There is no doubt that Brendan has made his views clear. Not sorting out a centre back this summer or for that matter in January is poor IMO. The preoccupation with making a profit by bringing in cheaper young talent we can sell on has to be balanced by the job that needs doing now not in 2-3 years time. I remember Matt Elliot was over 28 when he came to us and still made well over 200 appearances- you could get that with Tarkowski but we try to get a bargain with the inexperienced Fofana and still seem to be offering £30 odd million. We need a mix of youth and trusted experience and we need it now because nobody is going to give players away for 50% discount in the last week of the window if that is the plan.
  10. Puel is clearly making a very big issue over this and you suspect the relationship with the ex-employers is not the greatest I think we have got sucked into this clearly we have an agreement with the player but are we seriously going to spend 30 odd million Euros on a player with barely a season at top level? This is a lot more than other European clubs were offering I am beginning to think at this price we should go for Tarkowski or another proven player such as the German international.
  11. Would not be surprised if we have offered 15 million.Bournemouth will want £35 million and we will meet somewhere in the middle with add ons depending on game time considering recent injury etc... OK maybe not that simple but nothing ventured etc..
  12. As a left footed right winger I can see him ticking a number of boxes.Would be amazed if he is not on the radar. He could fit really well and seems very highly rated He is from the north west so we might struggle if United came in for him but he would get more game time here He is recovering from long term injury which needs considering and might keep the fee down a little but nearer £30 rather than £15 miliion IMO If we could get him in along with a central defender looks like Fofana would be more than happy particularly given how sluggish things have been so far
  13. Thought I might find some cheer spending an hour looking through the usual sources on twitter John Percy, Rob Tanner, Sean etc. Didn't help reading about Newcastle Sheff United Villa etc . We haven't even had the rogue links to potential targets seen wandering around Leicester that were posted yesterday which wasted a lot of time and pages. Not sure about this one LCFC HQ Understand this afternoon that #lcfc have submitted their first official bid for Saint Ettiene Defender Westley Fofana. Bid of around €26 million. 1:08 pm · 8 Sep 2020·Twitter for iPhone
  14. Daily Mail states we are prepared to offer £20 million and Fofana open to a move. I think the club had put a 30 million Euro valuation which is pushing it but hopefully something can be sorted with the usual add ons to get this over the line
  15. Suspect the links to the Burnley players is probably lazy journalism based partly on last years interest and the assumption that the transfer kitty is a lot more than reality.Just hope we don’t arrive at WBA with Ndidi as makeshift centre back and nobody lined up.
  16. Have we got any concrete links on this apart from the fact that we were in for him last year and something on the back page of the Star? Seems to be more to the Fofana thread?
  17. I'm sure we have a plan but we seem to be doing the rounds looking at price tags and moving on as everything is still at full price to look again next week.Admit I do the same at January sales when money is tight. However sometimes we need to pay the going rate to get the right fit before it goes. Whether it is Tarkowski who could slot in immediately or Fofana I think a decision needs to be made now rather than later when we could be struggling and less likely to attract players of this calibre.
  18. Would be more than happy with this although Fofana looks a great prospect and more of a Leicester type investment. The problem is that we need someone who could fit in straight away who knows the English game and Tarkowski fits the bill.We are asking for trouble if we go into the new season as threadbare as we seem to be in defence. This is an issue we have had for months and it was not really sorted in January but of course Morgan's injury has brought it into focus.I doubt there will be a bargain price here and Burnley have just send out a defender on loan.
  19. We look a long way off a top 6 premier league side atm and I just hope that Rodgers is backed in the transfer market to freshen things up on the wings and at centre back. Might be too much to expect another striker. Blackburn were the better team today in the second half. Don't think Thomas needs to go on loan I think he has great potential and he will cut out the errors but we need cover.I'm a bit worried about overall confidence and a potential hangover from the end of last season.
  20. I was worried that Vardy Madders or Ndidi were going to be out long term so this non -event of a twitter headline is a relief.Rodgers was frustrated by the lack of quality yesterday so how easily can you make a backstory out of this.
  21. Praet is a decent player but not one who often has an immediate positive impact perhaps because he is more defensive. We need a really good midfield general who can control the centre of the park and get a few goals but Praet has not quite done that so far. In terms of priorities for now we need to sort out central defence full backs wingers and another striker. If finances are short and a decent offer came in I would sell him assuming the money is used to fill one of the other slots.
  22. Justin has been great. Vardy has worked hard with little support a few half chances only Not a huge amount of wing play Harvey not really involved which is a concern.Defensively looked vulnerable at times and of course Morgan injured Need a few signings certainly a winger and centre back we cannot go into new season so thin on the ground. Against a premier league side could have been couple of goals down
  23. Has schoolboy season ticket in 1971 remember Shilton Whitworth Nish Weller and Worthington of course who was playing for Huddersfield when I first saw him. Best older memory probably the 5 goals in the 1982 FA quarter final vs Shrewsbury fantastic game.
  24. The way we finished last season and the injuries/suspension at the start of the new season highlight the need to freshen things up with 3 or 4 signings. If the funding it not there I think we may well struggle at the start of the season and momentum seems so important at Leicester in recent campaigns. Realise things are not easy and losing Champions League may have spoilt a few plans but hope for something positive soon to give everyone a lift.
  25. I don't think 18/1 on Suarez coming is worth a punt.5000 to 1 maybe.
