  1. We didn't deserve to concede after the start we had and we deserved to be at least level at the break. They didn't deserve to concede a late equaliser after the second half they had. Swings and roundabouts. We need to show more creativity. Chance creation needs to increase massively. I thought we just didn't look the same without James on the pitch. I thought he linked defence and attack really well and then when Carranza came on later in the second half we lacked fluency entirely. Lots to work on.
  2. The thought of failing at something new is often much worse than actually failing, even if it's an utter disaster. The upside is you might just discover your new favourite thing.
  3. Great example for the guys coming up behind them as well like Hutchinson, Evans, Briggs, Neale, Gray, etc
  4. Brian Kilmeade https://eu.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2025/09/17/fox-news-brian-kilmeade-homeless-comment/86181269007/
  5. Tommy Neale looked good again. Some lovely turns and good ball retention. Overall it was a very frustrating game. Loads of balls over the top that were overhit and went out of play and therefore attacking moves tended to break down quite quickly.
  6. I wasn't saying that there aren't problems with King Power. There are, there really are. But Mandaric was a different kettle of fish and was so incredibly amateurish in comparison. This iteration of King Power since Vichai's passing has made a lot of mistakes. In fact, I don't think we've ever really had a coherent plan for running the club where a manager fits into the system rather than the manager dictating what the system will be. And, yes, even though the different managers has meant we've swung from one approach to the other in terms of style of play and recruitment, we have also then, at times, recruited badly for those managers. But, for me, this current malaise still stems from the approach made under Rodgers. We abandoned the sell-to-buy policy so Rodgers could push, we maxed out our wage bill (and more) and watched assets depreciate, the squad stagnated and had no fresh injection of quality as we recruited badly to fill out the squad. We pandered to Rodgers and paid him too much as he hung on and we hung on in order to save a few million quid and avoid PSR issues. In the end, we pulled the trigger, meaning we lost yet more money, did it far too late so we had a poor choice of managers to recruit from with very little time to turn things around, and then got relegated, spent too much in the Championship and the problems kept being pushed further down the road. King Power have loads to answer for. They have 100% made very costly errors. But this summer window is a glimmer of hope that they know how to turn things around. It remains to be seen whether they can do it, especially with it now being so difficult to become an established Premier League club again. They may not be able to. There may be things down the line that prove my optimism in them to be utterly misguided. But, I think, short of running the club into the ground and winding it up, or relegating us back to League One, there isn't much I think King Power can do to convince me that they're worse than Milan Mandaric. We were a laughing stock under him. Under King Power, we're a bit shady, we've made mistakes, but we are a serious outfit - just about
  7. Mandaric's tenure was an absolute basket case. Relegation to League One for the first time ever, open warfare between him and a manager he hired just weeks before, scattergun recruitment based on absolutely nothing concrete that went entirely over the manager's head. What we have now is not perfect but the transfer window we have now at least shows signs that the club knows what it wants to do to comply with PSR and rebuild. There are loads of things it could improve on and, yes, there are likely to be a number of better prospective owners out there. But there are loads, loads worse. Mandaric was one of them without a shadow of a doubt.
  8. Ayew is far from perfect. But at times he looked head and shoulders above every single one of Oxford's players. He could be sharper and quicker to get his shot away, that's definitely one criticism. But he works hard and is more than good enough for us at this level. If we go up, we'll need to reassess. His days as a squad player in the Prem may well be over but let's cross that bridge if and when we come to it. Carranza is an unknown quantity in English football and Daka works hard with very little end product and not much contribution to the team as a whole beyond perhaps freeing up a little space behind him as he runs off the shoulder of the defender. Ayew will be crucial this season, like it or not.
  9. Ricky and Winks, what a difference they made! If Ricky can do a full 90, he simply has to start games. Winks too. It isn't going to work every game but at times in the second half we looked like the team with an extra man. Coventry will be a very stern test, but if we're going to have a chance we need those two involved. Hopefully Monga gets on the pitch as well.
  10. Really sad to hear. I remember him being part of our squad when I was first aware of football, in the Joachim, Walsh, Coatsworth era. Hope they raise a ton of money at the half marathon.
  11. I know sometimes players just say what they think is the right thing to say. But having players that actually want to be here will make a huge difference. And he comes across as genuine. Same with the manager
  12. 100%. Plenty of right-wing people may be radicalised by this because they now just assume the entire 'left' is a violent, murderous mob. Plenty of left-wing people may have been radicalised by the riots after the Southport stabbing or the murders of Jo Cox and Melissa Hortman. But in reality, your right-wing or left-wing friend or neighbour, the asylum seekers down the road or the people down the Conservative club are all likely to be decent people. Let's stop being pulled further to the extremes by these incidents and our initial reactions.
  13. I'll never know what possesses people to do things like this. All political violence is shocking and abhorrent. From Jo Cox to Charlie Kirk, it's evil. Ultimately there's one person responsible for the rise in the hard right and hard left taking over the political discourse: Putin. It's he who's trying to destroy the West. It's he who inspires the figures you see spouting conspiracies and undermining social cohesion. It's he who has enabled these viewpoints to creep into the mainstream. Pull back from the brink. Embrace your neighbours whoever they may be. Pull together as a society and raise each other up. There is no room for hateful ideology, whatever part of the political spectrum your sensibilities lie.
  14. Didn't see a great deal of this but thought Carr and Hutchinson looked lively when they came on. Neale looked incredibly comfortable in possession as he did in the National League Cup game against Braintree.
  15. Alves's development is surely 12 to 18 months behind what it would have been had he not been injured. Maybe even two full years when you consider he's not just had to return physically but mentally and reach the level he was at before injury. He has a high ceiling. A confidence-boosting loan will do him the world of good.
  16. Under Pearson and Ranieri we had a likeable team, manager and backroom staff. Since Ranieri, I think only Maresca had that likeability (maybe Smith but his football was incredibly negative). The hiring of Cifuentes, the bringing through of young players, and some of the summer signings we've made make me think we're going back in that direction. And I think it will make a difference. The aloof nature of Rodgers and the blunting of Vardy's edge kind of softened the side and the crowd's attitude towards them I think, although when Vardy did produce moments of needle, the crowd was carried along with him. Proper connection with the fans is paramount, likeability of staff and players next, then actual ability of the players and performance of the team will be crucial at getting those great atmospheres back.
  17. Goals for Alves and Opoku. Braybrooke getting almost the full 90. Yes a defeat for the latter two but for them as individuals, not a bad day. A new backup keeper through the door makes it a pretty decent day for Leicester
  18. I feel like that's exactly the kind of goal Alves needed to score. Getting into those positions will be crucial for him building the kind of confidence that will hopefully lead to him dominating games and scoring the kind of spectacular goals we know he's got in his locker. A great start for him.
  19. Big opportunity for him. Even at only 20 his development is, what 12 to 18 months behind that because of the injury and recovery. A good run and regular football for a first team where it actually matters will be brilliant for him. He had a taste of that last season but it's difficult for a struggling side where managers chop and change just to hopefully strike upon the formula that will keep them up. Hopefully Huddersfield can challenge this season and Alves will be a big part of that. He could come on leaps and bounds this season. I have to admit, in training videos and what little he's played for us, he looks like he needs to find his confidence and swagger again.
  20. I'm hearing (definitely not making up ) that Rennes have deliberately pulled the plug because as payback for when we trashed their stadium a few years back
  21. Yes please. Always looked a quality player at this level with Birmingham
  22. I absolutely love what Scott McTominay has done in Napoli, but I can absolutely endorse Vardy bagging the winner in the Diego Armando Maradona and giving McTominay the shush gesture.
  23. This guy really cares, you can see it, especially when he made that late save from close range at 1-0. Like Okoli celebrating a block at Charlton and Fatawu screaming at Soumare/Choudhury yesterday. Those three in particular give me hope for this squad if their influence can grow. Stolarczyk is such a good shot-stopper as well and he just looks confident. Having a keeper like that must be so reassuring as a defender. I'm trying not to exaggerate, but we do goalkeeping legends here. He could be the next one.
  24. Nice to get him in the starting line-up. He often looks like a player beyond his years but then also goes missing, as you'd expect from a 17-year-old. The fact that he's playing in central midfield (even in an advanced role) at that age is testament to the kind of player he is. Consistency will come with more game time, which he should get. Sometimes I think he needs to really believe that he belongs at this level. Like a few of our players yesterday he attempted the safe pass when a line-splitting pass was also on. If he can sharpen up that decision making, he'll be one hell of a player. Quite frankly, expecting more from a player that young in the position he plays seems silly, but he looks capable of it and he'll only get better with more games.
