Most (all?) of the references to Bill Oddies death in this thread seem to refer to his comedic side. Whether you were a fan or not, his career stretched back into the 60s. Also, he was not just a performer but comic writer. That's some achievement. Plus, he had another equally successful career in nature programmes, especially relating to our feathered friends. Then he was one of the first to go public with his MH struggles All in all, I think that deserves respect and acknowledgement.

Bridge hit yet again. Does this bridge not have those warning wires stretching across the approaches? I noticed last week that the railway bridge on Saffron Lane, as you head down from Aylestone Road, has them. These are the same height as the bridge and would give you plenty of warning by snagging the top of your wagon/lorry/bus if you were too tall.

Binge watched this over a couple of nights. Different and above average comedy with some sad and poignant moments too. Without being a spoiler, I loved the scene where the robot is telling some children on a campsite some really scary stories.

I'm in Leicester. This incident was alongside the Scudamore Road industrial estate. Walking on the now closed Western Golf course which is also in the area, I noticed two areas where there had also been grass fires. One of these had also damaged some hedgerow and trees. On the other side of this hedgerow - houses. No idea of course if the same person was responsible for these ones but guess its quite possible.

I saw a grape vine with loads of yet to ripen fruit, hanging over a fence alongside a path in that renowned vineyard region of Glenfield yesterday.

Some tw4t wearing a ski mask, set fire to some long dry grass behind houses near us yesterday. A fella came out from his home to put it out whilst another took a photo of the culprit - who was just standing there 'admiring' his work. I've been told that despite most of his face being covered, a local beat copper recognised the culprit. They should really throw the book at these idiots.

It used to be common advice back in the day - perhaps still is - but it was suggested you looked at the mother of your girl friend because that would be how she would turn out in personality/beliefs/looks/figure etc. For girls it was the father. There's an ad on the TV currently that is for a trust that provides food parcels. In the ad they show people who are incredibly sad but grateful for the food. I supported a volunteer in a food bank for 2 years or so. Quite a few of the folk who attended would go through the bag of items you offered them picking and choosing what they wanted and often jettison the fruit and veg and ask for a pizza or cake instead. One women travelled by taxi from the other side of town to collect her food parcel - I kid you not. That said, they are a much needed modern resource for poorer families, it is a case however of bizarre priorities for some.

Ordered an item from a UK seller on Ebay and it took a week to arrive. I grew up in an era where ordering an item to be delivered (Club book, catalogues and so on) used to take 14-21 days. Now I'm: Where is it? Strewth! 7 days! Terrible! Shan't order from them again. Prime has a lot to answer for.
