  1. I’m pretty sure the ball was out before he touched it. I think he thought it had come off our player but it was a bit of a bizarre moment. He’s not Yashin but he’s a decent keeper and we should be busy with other problems and get behind a relatively young goalkeeper who has come through the ranks.
  2. Only a matter of time before Vesty gets caught in possession and costs us a third.
  3. Too many of our squad think they’re too good to play with each other
  4. Winks doesn’t want to know, as lazy a pass as you’ll ever see.
  5. I was at the Blackburn game and was impressed by his enthusiasm, I remember him demolishing an advertising hoarding chasing a lost cause. I felt he was out of his depth, how wrong I was.
  6. I can’t imagine there’s a worse away end in world football than Lens, it was hideous and took 2 circuits of the ground to even find the entrance.
  7. It is too easy to stop our creativity by doubling up when we have no real threat through the middle.
  8. Akinbiyi’s finishing was inarguably awful but it was highlighted by a) his movement, pace and strength being so good meant he had a lot of opportunities to display his terrible finishing. b) TV football being mostly highlights meant his missed chances were more prominent. A player like Daka, who is ineffective in every department, just becomes anonymous. Confidence is important to a striker, Akinbiyi never played in a side doing well, Daka has.
  9. That’s what every fan of a club at the top of its curve says. Ultimately, you’re going to a ground where you’ve got 2 points from 27.
  10. Absolutely no chance we lose tomorrow, even with a full days play, they’d need to score 550 in 80 overs and bowl us out for under 100 in 25 overs. That leaves Glamorgan to bowl Derby out twice in a day. If we’re not champions tomorrow I’ll put my bollocks in Dunhelm’s window.
  11. Dreadful, hence we were the better side yesterday with 10 men.
  12. Mark Grew conceded 4 on debut against Notts County and 14 in his 5 appearances. Not helped by replacing an absolute legend.
  13. Not fit to sanitise Saint and Greavsie’s microphones
  14. Question for my fellow seniors, weren’t Cremonese the club that beat Derby in the final of the Anglo-Italian Cup in the early 90’s?
  15. I’m pretty sure that’s the case. Wasn’t it won by a Swansea player? It’s a shame they didn’t wait a couple of years, I swear Joachim would have easily won, he was so quick. He could have been an athlete.
  16. I think it was 1 sub at that point. Classic match and definitely the best performance by an outfield goalkeeper (shoutout to Richard Smith against Oxford a decade later though) strangely I’ve seen it so many times I honestly can’t remember if I was there in person.
  17. There was definitely a Wout sound first.
  18. I’m in Turkey atm and I heard someone mention his name in a cafe this morning, no idea on the context so tier 99 source would be generous.
  19. Young attackers get an easier ride from fans, Joachim was idolised by everyone and often went missing for entire months rather than games.
  20. Shilton Whitworth Kamark Maguire Evans Kante Worthington Weller Mahrez Vardy Lineker
  21. Best against us, for me, was Mark Grew for Port Vale in ‘91, to make matters worse he was dreadful when he played for us 8 years earlier.
  22. Sounds like an Indie band
  23. That doesn’t take away from the fact that it can get worse and it most probably will at some point.
  24. Fair points but I was responding to the idea that this is our nadir, which it isn’t.
  25. It might feel that way but we’re actually roughly where we’ve been for most of our history I.e. a yoyo club.
