Well on the game overall I've not seen too much to be scared of. I thought they'd be better than that. Play as we know we can and we go through. Hamza one of those on Grealish please, with the shhh

Yes but that's what annoys me, why did Amazon rest three of their best players? Anyhow I still thought they bossed it. I'm confident for the away leg. -

Sad state of affairs if we'd sacrifice an FA Cup or Europa League cup for money. I might as well support Amazon or Google if money is the end game. -

What, you think we're struggling; the sales of players we've had? Add to that the owners aren't short of a few bob. It wasn't long ago, we were in the rich list; might be mistaken but at one stage I thought we'd sneaked into the top ten. -

It must be a generational thing, and I can't, and don't want to change your viewpoint. For me I'd wish the following in order of preference:- 1) Europa League - to win the second big trophy in Europe would be massive. 2) FA Cup - so much history wrapped up in it, and it completes the domestic set. Many memories over the years, and get rid of that "unluckiest club in the competition's history." I suspect we are 0/4. 3) The league. We've won it, but a second time would be something special. 4) Champions League participation. Realistically we won't win it, and we've got cash as a club. The pickings are incidental. As someone has said earlier in the thread, the argument matters not, as it should be the strongest side we can for every game from now, and bring players in as we need to. -

There's probably not a single one of us that sees enough of Slavia Prague to make an informed judgment on the team we should put out. It's largely guesswork, and my ill-informed guess is we will need to be at full strength to get anything out of the game. -
Not quite sure how McManaman gives MOTM to Barnes. Did he watch the game? We had to defend like dogs in that first half; the Liverpool press was relentless. To get anything out of that game, the MOTM has to come from the defenders. I'd have Ndidi for his overall play, and his effectiveness at defending corners. Ricardo and Soyoncu weren't far behind him. Honestly at half time I'd have bitten your hand off for 0-0 as the final score. Really needed that pick me up; can enjoy the rest of the weekend, and hopefully see some results go our way. Onwards and upwards.

LCFC vs Brighton (FA Cup) - Match Thread - 10/02/2021

They seem to be deliberately not passing to Daley-Campbell; lack of confidence in him? Also, what's the point of Perez standing for the short corner, then heading back to the middle, but Tielemans doesn't wait for him to get in a decent position. Barnes, Albrighton, and Maddison otherwise it's cheerio. -

It's still unforgivable playing a weakened side imo. Probably because I've less years to support this team in this competition than a lot of you guys. Memories; the battle with Arsenal that went to three games in the 70's; Leatherhead; Harlow Town; Burton. It's a special competition and it matters. Always wanted this cup. Four finals without success. We've won the league. Arsenal out, Liverpool or Man U out today. Priority for me, but accept we all have different goals. -

The club has had a slap in the face for disrespecting a decent side. Had banana skin written all over it. You pays your money.... -

Matter of opinion. I'd rather us win the F.A. Cup. -

We may well go on to win this. I sincerely hope so as I'd rather us win this competition than anything else. However I'll say it now regardless of the outcome. Why play a weakened side against a side, where it took a full strength Spurs to beat them, and who put out two Premier League teams, (League cup). If Puel had done this, (as he did)...... -

So many good performances against the traditional top six. Imagine if we'd got something out of the Fulham, Villa, West Ham games. Still for someone who experienced Frank Mclintock's year in charge all those years ago, and then when we dropped down into the first, you have to pinch yourself where we are now. Superb all round team performance. Albrighton everywhere first half; little Wes superb. Buzzing. -

Proven goal scorer role. Kevin Phillips; Jermain Defoe etc. -

Have a word with posters on the Chelsea pre-match. They're all panicking that Vardy won't start tonight, but of course we have Barnes.... Have to say I'm in their camp. Barnes is excellent, but we still need another striker. -

Never mind replacing him, we need another striker in this transfer window, if we are serious about competing in all three competitions. He's limped off a couple of times lately, which is probably linked to an ongoing tweak he's referenced himself. Another quality striker and I think we can make a serious challenge on all three fronts. I think without one, we probably just miss out on the cups and maybe finish fifth or sixth. No disrespect to the other finishers at the club, but I think another natural goal scorer to play alongside/replace Vardy where necessary really takes us to the next level. Time to spend some cash and really make a statement. Having said that about spending I contradict myself a little, and I think having a natural goal scoring instinct is probably more important than how much potential the player might have and the price tag. Ideally a long term replacement, but if not, at least someone else in this window that can chip in with c.10 goals including important ones. Going expensive, I've no real idea. Going relatively cheap; Dwight Gayle.... -
Depends if you want an FA Cup. After 45 years of dreaming of this club winning the Cup, I'll be pissed off if we crash out playing a weakened team. Stoke are on the edge of the play-offs.

Crystal Palace 1-1 LCFC - Post Match Thread

Over management. Sports science nonsense. Those of us old enough to remember the great Leeds and Liverpool sides of the seventies and eighties know that the same eleven picked itself, played all season, played in Europe, played more games around Christmas than they do now, played cup replays etc. There's no need to tinker as much as Rogers does. Really strange decision to play Gray, when he's said he has no future. He did the same with a one-off appearance from Slimani. It's over management because he can. On an individual basis I thought Mendy was outstanding. His passing was as good as his tackling, and he covered so much ground. Amartey was solid as well. However, just play your strongest side. -
Great battling performance today. Well played to all concerned.

Thomas for Fuchs?
-
Yep more than likely the outcome. For the first time in a long while, I'm not sure I can watch. When it comes to it I probably will, but this is so going to happen.
-
But tactics don't account for Fofana not getting a shout to leave the ball and not concede a corner; or Justin crossing it behind the advancing striker on at least two occasions; or Schmeichel kicking the ball straight into touch when under no pressure; or Tielemans shooting a mile wide; or Fuchs, (I think it was) pinging a ball at 100mph and expecting Vardy to control it; or all the silly fouls that allowed Everton to waste time; or Maddison failing to beat the first man from his corners. Where I'd agree is; zonal marking; passing it sideways at the back; ethos of not looking for a forward pass; not playing quick enough; not running at defenders. It's a mix of poor performances and tactics.
-
Painful to watch. Other than Ndidi's performance, there was nothing good. Too slow, passes hit too hard to control, or not accurate enough. Worrying thing is I fully expected that scoreline. Whether it's fatigue but all the small things just going wrong, Schmeichel clearance straight into touch; Fofana putting it out for a corner. A spanking from Spurs awaits.

If I could be arsed I'd rewind and see how long the injury was, but pretty sure 2 extra minutes doesn't do it justice.

Doh! I'm confusing myself now. I think I'm there
