There is a lot of talk about selling Maguire/Chilwell to raise funds. But we have other assets like Gray and a couple others we could sell before having to resort to selling our best players... If Solanke went for 19mill and Ibe for 15mill, Gray should command about 25million .

7th is still possible. However if we do get into Europe then we need to improve the squad. It’s a myth our squad is great, it’s full of average players. I wouldn’t want us to get into europe and be forced to play an average side and get knocked out in the group stages. You basically need a first and second team. Our second XI looks like this: Ward Amartey, Morgan, Soyuncu, Fuchs Mendy, Choudhury Ghezzal, Okazaki, Albrighton Iheanacho That team is extremely bang average apart from 3 or 4 players at best.

Sturridge will want ridiculous wages. I thought one of the reasons for letting Simpson, Fuchs, etc go is because it would free up the wage bill. As it’s a free transfer, Sturridge’s wage demands will be inflated like Ramsey and others as of late. Not worth it.

Loving the thought of James and King patrolling Monaco’s midfield with Fabregas . If we were to add another player in the deal I think it would be Slimani, as he’s worked with Monaco’s manager before.

We need more players with bite in midfield for sure. According to fans on Villa’s forum he is the engine, who is full of running and never stops working. He’s got 2 goals and 8 assists this season which is a very good return for a central midfielder. If we persist with 4-3-3 then we need DM’s, creative players and box to box players as options imo. Seems to have changed his style of play. He now prefers to try play out the back, whereas he used to just boot it upfield and it would end up near the opponents box. Vardy would challenge for them and we’d play off the second balls. Not pretty but it would never lead to any danger like his current kicking does.

He’s honestly got a bit of Tielemans about him, the way he can pick out a pass, keep possesion and drive with the ball.

Get Ndukwu on the bench as soon as possible and see what he can do first. Then we can reassess the RW situation in the summer.

Tavares would probably be our second most technically gifted CM behind Tielemans if he was in the first team. Ok maybe that was a bit over the top, but the lad was on a different level to everyone else tonight

That Tavares in CM reminds me of Tielemans. Fantastic dribbling, hasn’t given the ball away and has played some lovely through balls. Apparently he’s one of two players outside of Benfica, Porto and Sporting playing for Portugal’s u18s who really do produce some great talent...
