Man Utd and Southampton have two of the best academies in the country, but their u23s aren’t even in the first division. They don’t prioritise winning the league, they want to develop their young talents by either sending them out on loan or integrating them with the first team squad. We should be aiming to do the same.

He got into more positive goal scoring positions in one game then i’ve seen Gray manage in 100 appearances for us. (A little hyperbole perhaps but probably not far off ) We can see he is an intelligent player otherwise he wouldn’t be making those runs. Let’s give him as much game time as possible, let him make the mistakes now and next season we will see the Barnes the West Brom fans were raving about. Don’t forget it took Chilwell a year of making mistakes before he came good, Pereira was dog muck at the start of the season, etc etc.

Can see Patrick Roberts being his first signing, who our recruitment team have pursued for a couple windows now. Think it would be a good signing and he’s another with huge potential. Also it’s the last year of his contract so he should only cost £10m or less. Roberts and the return of Benkovic means we’d only really need another LB, CM and a CF.

Playing as a sweeper in the middle of a back 3 would really suit Evans. Huth was immense in this position, reading the game, mopping everything up and commanding our defence. I think Evans would have a similar impact.

After these next 3 fixtures, maybe it’s time to give one of our CB’s a chance in the first team???
