Why don’t we go for someone like Andreas Pereira? Plays in the same position, highly praised in La Liga for the past 2 seasons, one year left on his contract so should be pretty cheap

Rony Lopes as a Mahrez replacement? 15 goals and 12 assists in all comps for Monaco. He has stated he wants to play for Portugal so forming a partnership with Pereira would be beneficial for him.

Does anyone think Puel will try to sneak one or two u23’s into the first team? I have a feeling he’s going to give players such as Moore, Barnes and Thomas a chance to shine in pre-season and he might like what he sees.

I wonder what he’s like in training? I think he’s in the mindset that he needs to play every week to get better. Whilst that is true, you also need to be putting in the graft on the training pitch. He’s had many games and runs in the team especially under Puel and hasn’t improved. I’d keep him for next season, as he still is only 21. I really liked Gray for the first six months, he played for the team, kept things simple and made good decisions on the ball. Then in pre-season of 16/17 he started playing selfishly, showboating, trying to pull off fancy flicks and tricks with no reward and that has continued to this day. If he can go back to the style he played with in his first six months, there is a player there. If not, I don’t think he’ll be anything more than a very average winger. Eden Hazard recently said Puel is the best manager for youth development. If that’s the case then Puel has got a job on his hands if Gray is to become a consistent, reliable winger.

Our last two signings (Diabate and Pereira) have been influenced mainly by Puel... I think we might have found the right balance again... Puel’s eye for a player and our scouting network working together could blossom into something positive. We should keep Macia imo.

1st of June, Mahrez to go for 65m + Roberts. Would people be happy with Roberts, Gray, Diabate and Albrighton as our options on the wing? (Providing we also sign a number 10, plus possibly another attacking LB so we aren’t just reliant on the wingers).

If we can get someone on Pereira’s level at LB we are laughing. A marauding RB and LB would transform us, look at Spuds when they had Walker and Rose.. We always say we need to improve the first XI and Chilwell is one of the players we can improve on. He can still develop and get minutes off the bench, play cup games, cover injuries and eventually start plenty of games if we get get into Europe and need to rotate regularly.

Is anyone else leaning towards keeping Puel? Like many fans I’d love it if the Pearson, Shakey & Walsh trio came home or someone like Rafa took over, but does Puel need time and most importantly, our support and patience? From what we’ve seen so far, he is trying to build something. I think two new fullbacks would really transform our style and help Puel implement his tactics in an effective way. He has been a bit too stubborn with his insistence on playing a specific way even though we have players in the first XI who can’t play that way. But all the great managers are pretty stubborn in their beliefs... Mourinho... Pep... Pearson . No but seriously, I don’t think Puel intends to bore us with the constant sideways and backwards passing, it’s just the only way some of our poor players on the ball (Simpson, Morgan, etc) can respond to the managers demands. Sign Pereira, a new LB and a partner for Maguire as priority and we can challenge for Europe under Puel imo.

What about signing Dalbert too? Nice’s left back under Puel. Not played many games for Inter so could be tempted by first team football and he’d probably cost the same as Pereira.
