I honestly don’t think either Vardy or Maguire will be ready for this game considering they’re yet to return to training. So assuming we don’t bring anymore in, this is what I’d go with: Schmeichel Pereira Evans Morgan Chilwell N’didi Iborra Maddison Albrighton Iheanacho Gray

To many options in midfield anyway, so it’s a no from me. He was far too inconsistent here the first time round, can’t see how that will have changed following a season on the Chelsea bench.

Honestly, I’m neither fazed or upset by which ever way this deal goes. If he decides to stay, great, we’ve got a GOOD but not amazing defender on our books to build the team around. However, if he decides to leave for the reported £70m price tag, that’s excellent business. I don’t think he is up there with the best defenders in the Premier League yet and to get that type of money for him would be good. I do think he still has a lot to learn and does make simple errors. On the other hand, does he have the potential to get there? Sure, why not. But £70m for Maguire I think would be a good price. Having said that, the aspects that do irk me is the limited amount of time we have to get a replacement (much similar to the Mahrez situation in January) and the reputation and message surrounding the club that it would produce. Also, the amount of United fans assuming that they could simply buy him without any sort of resistance is highly irritating. The solution that seems the best option is for a cash plus player deal, but United’s centre back options do not give me a lot of confidence at all.

Competition is going to be high. I can’t see him staying at Barca with Pique, Umtiti, Marlon, Lenglet and Vermaelen all competing for the CB positions. I seem to remember them having a few financial problems a few seasons back so a quick buck could be ideal for them.
-
I’d be tempted to keep Amartey. He is still young and he can’t be burning a hole in the club’s wage budget. He didnt cost much and I can’t imagine he’d command that high of a wage. He had an excellent spell last season, and was unfortunate to get injured. Seem to remember in the Cup game against Liverpool, he was one of our better players.

What my point was is that they’d have to shift those two out before they brought anyone else in presumably.

With the squads that both us and Tottenham have, I can’t see it either of us going for him unless a few strikers are shipped out. We’ve got Vardy, Iheanacho, Slimani, Okazaki, Ulloa and Musa for that position whilst Spurs have Kane, Son, Janssen and Llorente.

With all of the left-backs we’ve been linked with, it really does make me think that Fuchs is off either this summer or, failing that, in January. It would make the sense for it to be the latter in time for the start of the MLS season.

I really do not understand the criticism of Iborra and his price tag. It’s not like he decided what we paid for him. Also, the argument that there is no sell-on is kind of irrelevant now. That’s not the way that football works anymore, especially if we’re looking to Europe. Even so, if it was that way, there is no harm in buying players who are older and less of a sell-on value every once in a while. That will get off-set by other sales. I think Iborra brings a lot to the team. His calmness on the ball, his eye for a pass, his physical presence an eye for a goal are all excellent features of his and could be important to the way that Puel wants the team to play. I personally liked him more than Silva last season and really hope he stays. I can’t see that Sturaro would offer anything more than him should he sign.

Not convinced about this one at all to be honest. I think some believe that as he has come from Juventus, he must be a good player. Only 44 starts over the last three seasons for Juventus in all comps which averages out to just under 15 per season. I know we’re not able to attract the elite calibre of players from these European clubs but I don’t think Sturaro is the right kind of move forwards. Plus, we have a wealth of central midfielders already. I would much prefer to see Choudhury be given more chances that to spend €20m on an average player.

If we can get Anderson and Maddison for approx £65m (£45m for Anderson, £20m for Maddison), I still think that represents great business. We'd be getting an extremely highly-skilled winger from Lazio and a No.10 with a lot of potential. Plus, with the Mahrez deal, we would about pay for the both of them and have Roberts too. People need to remember fees are extortionate now. If, and it's a big if, they all come off our options would be: Anderson, Maddison, Roberts, Gray, Albrighton, Diabate. To me, that is brilliant. No hesitation from me at all in splashing out.

Would absolutely love for this to happen. A great talent and just from pure stats, has an excellent great end product. Unlikely to happen unfortunately though in my opinion.

Find it strange the amount of people omitting Iborra. I personally think we play better when he is in the side. If my ideal transfers would go through, would love the team to look like this. Schmeichel Pereira Maguire Evans Chilwell Iborra N'didi Maddison Iheanacho Vardy -
Not sure if anyone has posted it but interesting to see Tony Xia’s (Villa chairman) statement. It practically says that they have to sell players due to FFP.

Think it’s fair to say that they would have been looking at potential replacements since he first said he wanted to leave. Who that is remains to be seen

He is going on a trial there for a couple of weeks in January. Similar to what Raul Uche did at Leuven earlier in the season.

Amartey is a bit of a mystery for me. I don't think anyone knows his best position - including himself. Last season, he would have a brilliant game at centre mid backed up by a truly woeful one. One thing I do know though, judging from pre-season, he is certainly not a right-back. ?

Interesting to note that they have the "SCB" sleeve sponsor too.

Sorry for the self-promotion but just reading the Cambiasso chat so I thought I'd write a piece on it. Didn't want to start a new topic so I posted it in here. Any opinions greatly appreciated! http://www.vavel.com/en/football/premier-league/leicester-city/547696-opinion-why-esteban-cambiasso-leaving-leicester-city-might-have-been-a-blessing-in-disguise.html

Hi, My name is Dan and have been a Leicester supporter pretty much all of my life, but only properly got involved in the whole roller coaster about 8 years ago. I am a season-ticket holder with my dad in the East-Stand. My first match was when I was about 5 at Filbert Street, it was a freezing cold day and I think we were playing against Leeds (but not sure) and to my shame I fell asleep mid-match! My favourite memory has to be the Man United game from last season. Having a family so United orientated (Grandad, uncles, cousins), it felt great to finally stick it to them after years of mediocrity! I have been reading this site for a good while now and thought it would be a good time to join in!
