  1. Never said I'm giving up but just from my perspective there's a real lack of excitement in going to games. Doesn't mean I won't go and support the team
  2. The most damning things for me are a few things and makes me believe that Rodgers really isn't getting this back. 1) For the life of me, I genuinely can't remember when we actually played well in a PL game. Man Utd at home potentially, maybe Newcastle but even then those wins were down to the deficiencies of the opponents. It's a worrying run that stretches way beyond the start of this season. 2) I've genuinely not got any idea what our identity under Rodgers is anymore. The fast-paced, dynamic football has gone and I don't even know what we try and do anymore. 3) It appears to me that supporters' enthusiasm has gone (including my own), that's a hard thing to get back. And that's not just because of a tricky run of results, it's the performances served up.
  3. From the way we've operated in the past under the owners, I suspect that it would be someone with knowledge of the English game/Premier League. They have never recruited an unknown quantity from abroad in all of their time owning the club so I feel like that could be ruled out.
  4. More quotes from him here. More shots fired towards the players.
  5. Throughout this season, I've tried to remain level headed as I've been a huge fan of what Rodgers has done with the club since he's arrived. However, it's these kind of results that see a fanbase turn, including myself. The one thing I will say is that it was almost our strongest team on the pitch today so the accusations of this being another Newport are slightly off the mark. Having said that, the buck stops with the manager. The failure to identify and correct basic errors and conceding from the same situations game after game is seriously galling. He's one of the highest paid managers in the Premier League and he's really not showing why that's the case at the moment. Players look disinterested and I can't see this getting any better. Out.
  6. Yes the refereeing wasn't of the best standard but there is no one else to blame for last night's capitulation than us. We lost that game, not the referee.
  7. This is for my Dad, too. Like many other posters. The man who chucked me head first onto this mad City rollercoaster and its the best decision that he ever made. Lucky enough to still be relatively young but already some of the best memories I have are with him in that lovely little ground of ours celebrating wildly every time that round white thing goes between a few metal bars. It just would not be the same without him standing there next to me.
  8. Very much reminds me of the goal Argentina scored at the 2006 World Cup - and no this isn’t just a way to shoehorn in the wonderful Esteban Cambiasso. Whilst not quite having the intricate passes around the penalty area, the appreciation of space and awareness of where each teammate was is very similar in both strikes. In a similar vein, the two passages of play very quickly switched from moving the opponents around with passes to very quick and incisive one touch play when there was room to exploit. Sign off a well-drilled and well-coached team. https://youtu.be/-YHbGjCNobQ
  9. Brighton really must hate playing us. Not beat us since 2014, only scored three goals against us since they got promoted. We've scored five goals alone after 80+ minutes, including two winners (both of those being this season) 😂
  10. A bit baffled by some of those calling for an under-strength team. We have a realistic chance of going very far in this competition. Yes, Slavia are a decent side as shown by their excellent form so will certainly not be pushovers. However, it's the Czech league at the end of the day. I would say it's arguably more important getting a result this week with it being away. Win this game, get a couple of away goals and then maybe think about changing the team next week. After all, if they win their home tie, they will more than likely set up for a draw when they come to us and as we've seen this season, we're not good at getting past a low block.
  11. One of those days today unfortunately. Players nowhere near up to standard, a lot of them off form; Evans, Mendy, Maddison, Albrighton, Perez. Made too many wrong decisions, whether that be the wrong pass or one too many touches. That's simply what it was, mistakes costing us. Whilst I and others will be begrudged to admit, those mistakes got punished by a decent side
  12. Very much deserved that. Indicates excellent progress to me, consistently going shoulder to shoulder with the "big six" and not being overawed or overwhelmed. Shoule bode well for a European challenge this season. Ndidi, Fofana and Justin were all excellent but think Tielemans has to be man of the match. Maddison wasn't great and neither was Albrighton but as a few other posters have said, he was very good defensively. In the end, a fair result 👍
  13. At the moment, I've got a definite feeling of if we score the first goal in the game, we're more than likely to win. However, as soon as we go 1-0 down I'm almost resigned to losing as teams know that if they shut up shop, we're incapable of coming back. It was exactly the same today, against West Ham, against Fulham etc etc etc. Could also explain the disparity between home/away results. For example, teams are more inclined to go forwards at home, hence our attacking players have a lot more space to operate and be dangerous. Fair play to Everton, they got their game plan spot on but we really need to find a way of finding a way through a low block.
  14. Intriguing one - wonder whether the enquiry was earlier in the summer or if it is relatively recent. The EFL deadline still has time to run so could happen?
  15. Would say I'm not bothered about his match considering the packed fixture list already but something really would grind my gears losing to Arsenal. Having said that would still change the team quite considerably. Ward Justin Morgan Soyuncu Thomas Choudhury Dewsbury-Hall Maddison Gray Iheanacho Under
  16. Massively enjoyed that. Some of that zip and swagger that we saw at the start of last season was back. Looked likely to score every single time we went forwards. Really impressed. Barnes, Tielemans, Praet, Castagne and Mendy all deserve huge credit. The fact that they could all have been candidates for man of the match really is telling. Yes we still looked a little ropey defensively which could get punished but in the grand scheme if things, whilst we're winning it does not matter all too much. All looking good 🦊
  17. Definitely relaxed, as you said looks as though it's a done deal. Would be nice to see the club go down a different route of announcement to be fair though.
  18. I might be being very speculative here but the club's socials MIGHT be providing some clues about Under. The clip of Cags scoring they've retweeted and as far as I'm aware, the club rarely retweet their own tweets. And they've just tweeted a picture of Izzet in response to something from EA. Tenuous I know but could be something clever like Newcastle did with the Ryan Fraser announcement a few weeks ago.
  19. Feeling relatively confident about this one. They play tonight against a physical Sheffield United side and with a few players out injured, a few could well play tonight who will be in the side on Sunday. Not to mention the attention around Tarkowski and Dyche's futures. Cue a 1-0 Burnley win 😂
  20. Personally, I like Ayoze. He's got a good touch and awareness which is far more suited to the no. 10 role where we've seen a lot of his better performances. It's abundantly clear he's not a winger though as he's not really got the pace or positional sense to play there. Think the price tag has raised expectations somewhat which I can understand to a degree with him being a £30m signing. He definitely brings something to the squad though and we always look worse when he doesn't play.
  21. Better first touches and both Perez and Praet would have had one-one-ones...
  22. Linked with him before so this really seems a rehash of that news. "Poised to revive interest" does not fill me with much confidence at all.
  23. Now deleted???
  24. Just had a quick dig and saw that Germany U21s are playing Andorra in Wiesbaden (which is half an hour away from Frankfurt) in EURO qualifiers. Could be somebody from that squad?
  25. Never impressed with him when I've seen him play, no thanks. Can do better for £15m.
