10.07 miles this morning in 1hr 39. Last big run before the half in two weeks. Looks like I’m going to be over my 2hr target, though not had the best prep this week. Had my pack in the post yesterday!

For several years I’ve been vegetarian and try to chose vegan options as and when I can but I absolutely cringe when I see things like this. All it does is get people angry and tar veggies/vegans with the same brush. It’s wasteful and some poor sod has to spend their day cleaning up after. I wouldn’t ever tell anyone what to eat or think of them as “evil” for enjoying a steak etc. For me if you can buy local and/or organic produce then all the better, cuts down on carbon footprint, nasty chemicals and supports local business. In short, do/buy what you like - just don’t be a cxnt about it.

I’m doing it also. I’m aiming for under 2 hours, I did the Nottingham half in 2:15 8 years ago so I’d love to beat that. Did my longest run of just over 9 miles in 1:26 a week or so ago. Good luck guys

Which Teachers/Lessons Do You Remember From School?
BeardyFox replied to Parafox's topic in General Chat
I'd heard the same thing and was joking about it to my wife one day and she told me the story and of a few other things he did while she was there too. -
Finally managed to get under 25 mins today. Thought I was going to pass out but did 24:30. Seems like a small win with all the problems around at the minute, feel proud all the same. off to heat my tin of beans over a candle.

Thanks for the replies. It almost seemed so high that I assumed it must be something specific especially as the Letting agents at the time told us that we had to have this specific policy with this specific company. You just hate feeling like you’ve been ripped off for so long. I’m going to have to carefully go over the policies wording but it looks like I’ll switch over.

Not sure where to put this but seems like the best place. When we first started renting our current place we were told to we had to take out tenants/contents insurance with a specific company. So we did. After a year the lettings agent stopped managing the property and the landlord took over. We have been paying over £200 a year with a company called Bode. I just went on to renew my car with Admiral and they have quoted my £70 for the year. I don’t get the massive difference!? Any help appreciated.

That doesn’t shock me anymore you see it so often. A few years ago I was following a car on the Birstall A6 roundabout, drifting between lanes quite erratically. As I pulled up at the lights I looked across and she was reading a book on the steering wheel! The car was covered in “baby on board” and those kind of signs too which made it worse somehow

Been noticing it more and more people driving with at least an entire wheel over the central white lines. Started noticing it on a couple of bends to begin with but now see it all the time on straight roads too. Don’t know if it’s drivers not focused or just generally not giving a toss anymore.

Yeah thats the one. The wind against you down that back straight was incredible. Thanks for doing the marshalling, it was well orgasnised event.

Did my Prestowold 10k a couple of weeks ago in 56 mins which is on target so I’m chuffed with that. Ran the second time since this morning after little sleep and a few beers was a bit of a struggle. Cant seem to push my 5k time at all though which is disappointing.

It’s either the end of the month or the end of the next month if the deposit is made past a certain day.

Recently put in a bid on a property for which from the EA it sounds like we are the front runners due to us offering asking price and not having a chain. They are in the position for a quick sale too as they don’t have a chain. As the place is right at the ceiling of our budget every penny counts with this. I have a LISA and other separate accounts. Is it worth me putting as much money in the LISA now knowing that the bonus might not come through in time. (Although I’m not 100% sure how long in to the process the funds get paid). The bonus would be around £800 which is money that could be put towards decorating etc. anybody have any experience or done similar?

Thanks everyone who has replied, looks like my best option is to go in with a counter offer and see if we can compromise.

We’re on a rolling 1 year contract which is up in November. But they want to do it from next month. I’ve been told that it’s only allowed to be increased by 5%. A house literally 10 doors down that’s more modernised and slightly bigger is on for £750. Last year a house 2 doors down was on for the same. Not sure if I can put in a counter offer at that?

Got a text message from my landlord saying they have to/want to increase the rent by £100pcm. Really not sure where we stand, I was half expecting a raise but not by that much.

Did a 5k this morning 26:40 and a 10k@ last weekend 57:18. Keep chipping the odd minute off here and there each time, happy with the progress so far.

I’m doing it too, I’m going to be happy to get near 2 hours.

Yes but Aliens evolved from space monkeys!

Recently had our mortgage broker come back with some figures. Theyre what we were expecting but the prices have shot up so much that where we could afford say a terraced house that needed a bit of work, it now appears to be flats, shared to buy or moving well out of our local area which would make commuting a real pain. We have viewed a couple of flats, one was fairly decent however the monthly charges plus the mortgage repayments would be nearly as much as what we are paying in rent currently. I've little knowledge of shared to buy or equity loan but all i see are quite negative experiences and lots of hidden costs. The flat has been on for a while now and has been rediced once already, I still feel the price is too high, would offering £10k under be reasonable? Otherwise its staying put and seeing if house prices come back down slightly to put them in reach.

This was my reaction to it tbh. As you say if you miss out on the best possible property by a couple of £k you'd be pretty miffed.

I'm just starting the mortgage application process. I'm using a broker that works for the financial advisors my workplace use. My father in law keeps telling us that we shouldn't tell the advisor about all the money we have available because in his words "they always want more". For example if we had 30k saved up we should only 'declare' 25k? This doesn't sound right but is it a good idea?
