The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
Claudio Fannieri replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
Yep sorry it’s me and that time again 🤣 I’ve now officially signed up for Prostate United 2026. This will be my fourth consecutive yearrunning 5km every day throughout October in support of Prostate Cancer UK, but it will also be my final Prostate United challenge. Before I start, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the Leicester City family. Over the last three years, the generosity and kindness shown by so many people on FoxesTalk and across the wider Leicester City fanbase has honestly been overwhelming. Whether you’ve donated, shared my fundraising page, sent a message of encouragement or simply asked how the challenge was going, you’ve helped me more than you’ll ever know. Thanks to your support, alongside my family, friends, colleagues, clients and Team Leicester City, we’ve raised morethan £13,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. This year, I’d love to finish by taking that total beyond £20,000. One of the highlights of last year’s challenge was having the privilege of running alongside Leicester City legend and First Team Coach, Andy King. It was a brilliant experience and a reminder of what makes our club so special. Whatever happens on the pitch, Leicester people have always looked after one another. After four years, I feel it’s the right time to finish while I still have the motivation to give it everything. October has become a month completely dominated by running, fundraising, aching legs, early mornings and trying to convince myself that setting the alarm before work is somehow a good idea! Also after a heart to heart with my family they were very open and honest about how difficult it is for them to see the toll it takes on me, both physically and mentally, alongside my job and the everyday challenges modern life throws at us. More importantly, I want to finish on a high and, hopefully, leave having made a lasting contribution to a cause that means so much. The reason I keep doing this is simple. Every 45 minutes, a man loses his life to prostate cancer in the UK. If this challenge encourages just one person to understand their risk, speak to a loved one or get checked earlier, then every mile will have been worthwhile. If you’re able to support me one last time, I’d be incredibly grateful. If not, simply sharing the page or helping spread the message could make all the difference. Thank you once again for everything you’ve done over the last three years. The Leicester City community has been a huge part of this journey, and it would mean the world to have you alongside me for one final October. In will share a link to my just giving fundraising page a bit nearer the time. Now let’s see if this 52-year-old body can survive another 155 kilometres… and hopefully Leicester can make the month a little less stressful than last season! Up the Foxes. 💙🦊 -
They most certainly are and hugely supportive, just think they worry about me especially as I am getting older 🤣

It will depend on the business we complete over the next couple of weeks but as it stands I expect it to be one of McCarthy, Chaplin or Cullen, there is a reason we have identified and signed these type of characters.
-
Could not agree more about Kingy I had the fortunate opportunity to run around Seagrave with him and spent 30 or so minutes in his company and he is an absolute diamond of a bloke who loves the club and was very open and honest about a lot of things. Let’s put it this way what he said in his first presser as caretaker manager was very much what he was saying to me as well.
-
Wasn’t there a rumour posted to say a couple of current staff were leaving and it would be announced very soon.
-
Any notable absentees from the training session which hint at any possible outgoings?
-
He is training as part of the group at the open training session so not so sure it’s as done as being suggested.
-
I think his book value is about £5m based on my calc that we probably paid £12.5m as guaranteed and the remainder in add ons, which will not have been achieved, so we should make about £500k plus getting his wages off the book. Also he signed a 5.5 year deal so it could be that we wrote off his first year amortisation in the June after he signed, which could mean his book value is lower than my calculation. Hopefully given the high add ons being reported some of that is easily attainable and will be further revenue secured this season.

Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links

There has to be a few moving out given the potential incomings. Wonder if there will be a flurry of announcements later today and tomorrow. -
Leicester City For Sale (Ongoing Thread)
Claudio Fannieri replied to AKCJ's topic in Leicester City Forum
Worryingly this is the same that was said about Chansiri at Wednesday, his valuation of the club was way in excess of what it was worth and as a consequence frightened off interested parties ……and we all know how that panned out. -
Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
Claudio Fannieri replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I can see one being Kingy -
As I have said not the exciting name people were perhaps hoping for however I am going to reserve judgement until I have seen him play in a few games and am able to see the shape of the side and where Russell best see’s him in his tactical set up. Also I am going to wait until the window closes as well, as we are not party to what outgoings are close or in the pipeline. It could be that someone like Reid and Mavididi are both very close to deals being agreed and Cullen is coming as the first of 2 or 3 incoming attacking options.
-
I am on the same page as you on this one, I think this will be a very solid signing, it’s not the spectacular or exciting name the fans were perhaps hoping for but given he has played for Russell before and that he has had a pretty solid career in the championship then I think he is a decent addition, he brings experience to what is a pretty young squad and given we are highly likely to lose most if not all of the likes of Faes, Souttar, Skipp, Mavididi and hopefully Reid before the window closes then it’s a profile we will need.

Apparently another former Swans player is also on Russell Martin’s radar ……. -

Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links
Claudio Fannieri replied to davieG's topic in Transfer Talk
I think this is a decent signing, last year registered 6 goal involvements and in the 3 previous seasons reached double figures for goal involvements so not too shabby given it’s a level higher than where we will be playing. personally I think given he can play as a striker or attacking midfielder he wlll be used as a false 9. -

Edozie would be our first ever signing from Southampton ….exciting always good to see us trying new markets 🤣 -

Definitely has a disciplinary problem but works so hard for the team, is a physical presence and can score goals, however after a bit of thought I think it’s highly likely to be one of the other suggestions, think this would be really out of the box. -

Mulitin Osmajic from PNE is my guess, 27 years old and one year left on his contract. -
It really does beggar belief the absolute naivety of some of our fanbase and the refusal to accept we are in financial meltdown. Over the last 4 years published accounted we have lost close to £300m. That is over £1m per week …..whilst some of that will be amortisation etc a very hefty proportion will be physical expenditure, cash out of the door on wages, transfer payments due, day to day running costs etc etc We are using Macquarie bank as a facility to spend tomorrows (well future years) money to pay the running costs of today and its costing us £200k per week in interest payments. We have kicked the can down the road, but now we are running out of road. Yes some high earners have moved on but the damage is done we are paying so much out in interest payments to service the debt and we are doing it on the lowest revenues since 2008. We are still effectively running a premier league infrastructure on league one revenues whilst already losing a fortune and borrowing to the hilt. How anyone can twist Kieran Maguire’s comments to be some sort of click bait is beyond me. We are up to our necks in it and the next 3 or 4 years are going to be brutal whilst the club try to get back to some sort of financial stability.

Ric Flair Live & Direct on BSLB Podcast
Claudio Fannieri replied to Ric Flair's topic in Leicester City Forum
Great pod and really good to have you back, thought it was a very measured and constructive discussion. Good to recognise the challenges the club face but also that changes may actually have had some positives and mean the likes of Rudkin may have an opportunity to be more effective. -
