Realistic Managerial Replacements
Claudio Fannieri replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
What makes me smile is the complete lack of proactive succession planning. Most clubs will be watching and monitoring a number of managers and have a shortlist of 5/6 targets at any given time. Yet here we are at LCFC where we sack a manager and then appear to start from scratch with a quick google search of “out of work managers with EFL & EPL experience’ and then take it from there. fecking amateur -
I have just listened to Kingys interview and I am not so sure the passive 2nd half was an instruction, I think there is a general apathy and complacency in the squad and I think the players thought the job was done and they could just stroll through the 2nd half controlling the game at a snails pace and have a nice easy 2nd half. Kingy actually says the instructions at half time were to carry on playing as they were. I would also say this managerial situation needs resolving today, if no manager is close to being appointed then he needs some support, he needs an experienced Assistant alongside him, Aiyawatt and Rudkin have thrown him under a bus and he doesn’t deserve that.
-
If he had an ounce of integrity and credibility he would walk away for the long term good of the club, but instead he will carry on and we will continue to appoint people who don’t rock the boat or question his position. Aiyawatt continues to protect him and as a result we continue to decline. If Rudkin left tomorrow it immediately opens up a whole new set of possibilities and options but he won’t and the pool we fish in becomes smaller and smaller with each sacking. Rudkin doesn’t care about the club he can’t do because if he did he would offer his resignation or agree a role where he relinquishes any real control for the benefit of the club. Instead Aiyawatt reshuffles the deck chairs to make it look like change but to ultimately double down on protecting his mate.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

And a 6 point deduction which has destroyed any positive momentum of sacking the manager. As soon as that deduction was announced and official I reckon 90% of the squad will have been discussing exit strategies with their representatives for this summer. Whoever is manager is going to be working with a group of players where the majority are either running down contracts or looking at their next move and how they get out of this shitshow. Aiyawatt and Rudkin have thrown a club legend and rookie coach under the bus to protect themselves, left him to pick up the prices and deal with the fall out of the last 2 weeks, whilst they continue to destroy the club from the inside. I really hope Kingy walks this morning to protect his own reputation and legacy at this club because he doesn’t deserve to tarnish his time with our club because of this group of players or the DoF and owner above. The standards of this club are absolutely rock bottom and this is all as a consequence of Aiyawatt and Rudkins inability to swallow their pride and step back and appoint the right people to take this club forward. Self preservation society is killing my club. -

Just my opinion but really don’t think Rowett will work with us, as others have said his successes have been with clubs of very different profiles to ours. I cannot see him getting a tune out of this group. Paul Heckingbottom and Alex Neill are doing amazing jobs at PNE and Millwall but I think both would tank here. Horses for courses and we need someone who can come in and command respect I just dont see Rowett as that man. -
Agreed and if it’s is Kingy then get him an experienced Assistant in and goalkeeper coach to support him and at least give the poor lad a fighting chance.

If this current lack of a plan doesn’t make the KPFC believers see just how shambolic Aiyawatt and Rudkin are, how there is no long term strategic planning, no succession planning then I am afraid nothing will. 2 weeks in and not one concrete link to a long term appointment or short term solution. Everything is so reactive, most clubs would be constantly monitoring managers and having their next 2/3 managers in their minds so they can proactively respond to either having to sack a manager or to bring in a ready made replacement should we lose the incumbent to another club. These two just fumble around for weeks without no discernible plan or direction and then plump for some uninspiring out of work journeyman or some big name with little to no track record suggested to them by an agent.

Trouble is it isn’t the ‘Leicester’ way of playing, it’s the ‘Aiyawatt & Rudkin’ way of playing. As a club we have always been at our best when we have played a high intensity style. Again more revisionism by the owner and Smithers trying to gaslight the fan base into believing this is the Leicester way. -

Is there an opportunity to get Collomose, Percy and Henry Winter on for a special to discuss nothing other than Aiyawatt and Rudkin’s dismantling of our club. It might be the only way some of the KPFC fans wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late. -
Couldn’t agree more Kingy has been thrown under a bus by the two key decision makers at our club, they are both hiding behind a club legend who genuinely loves the place to try and protect themselves. The anger I feel towards Aiyawatt and Rudkin is through the fecking roof.
-
How anyone can defend him is beyond me, he has destroyed this club and his desire for self preservation means we will only hire managers that won’t rock the boat. It’s a disgrace he is still in his job and that ‘people’ even attempt to support him.
-
How anyone can back Aiyawatt & Rudkin after this continued decline and deduction is absolutely beyond me. They cannot class themselves as real fans if this isn’t hurting them or they are happy to accept this. This is killing me seeing our great club being run into the ground by these 2. Utter heartbreaking stuff. Get them gone ASAP I have zero patience or belief that either of these 2 have the desire or strategic thinking to get us out of this nose dive.

Sorry disagree we should have sacked Rodgers earlier and given ourselves the best chance of staying up. Instead we threw a load more cash at panic buys, hung on to Rodgers far too long, still went down and breached by a whole lot more. A change in manager in January would have meant Ward and Amartey gone from the starting XI a whole lot earlier, Vardy was being largely unused, it would have been a lot more comfortable. All that season did was prove how far out of depth both Rudkin and Aiyawatt are.

According to some extracts from the commission report the Finance Director identified and said players needed to be sold at certain times to remain compliant, in fact in the first relegation season it was identified we needed to sell in January and we in fact doubled down and signed Souttar, VK and Tete……. It would suggest that others probably including a certain Susan Whelan were raising flags and Top and Rudkin didnt heed those warnings and carried on regardless.
-
Somehow we have to make it clear that we want change, before the match, at half time and after the game it has to be we want Rudkin out chants and we want change then throughout the game we back the team and Kingy to try and get us out this mess. I think protests outside the stadium before and after the game is the only way to get the message across.
-
In any other walk of life he would have been sacked or resigned following 2 relegations in 3 seasons, he is the longest serving DoF in English football being in his role for 11 years, the average is 20 months …… Now look at we are today, we have just been hit with a 6 point deduction, we have hired and fired 3 managers in less than 18 months, dismantled one of, if not the best squad outside the supposed big 6 and yet after all this not only his he seemingly under no internal pressure for his role but he is in fact just about to be moved upstairs and given more power and influence. If he had a shred of credibility, gave a shit about the club and isn’t there for his own gain then he would have either resigned or at least swallow his pride and accept he needs to relinquish power and bring in a heavy hitter like Pearson, give him the keys to Seagrave and a blank canvas to rebuild the club. The very fact that this man chooses self preservation over the long term good of our club makes him the most dangerous individual I have ever known to have influence and power at Leicester City in the 45 or so years of supporting the club. I am pretty sure if he had an open and frank conversation with Top about stepping down from LCFC he would get a sizeable pay out / loyalty bonus and still continue to collect a decent wedge running King Power racing whilst allowing the club to move forward with the right people who can shape and take the club forward for the future. I think this deduction, will galvanise the fanbase to back Kingy and the team whilst also putting pressure on Rudkin to step down, his role and position at the club is untenable.
