For certain players yes, there is still an option we could sell Daka and Soumare for low fees in January, it’s not beyond the realms.
-
Big difference when you are in the premier league and the revenues that brings you can do this however in the championship you cannot afford to have a player on £60k per week sat in the stands. and let’s be honest it didn’t end well for Ruud did it and he was pretty much calling out the piss poor standards and culture from the outset and wasn’t supported in trying to change it just moved on.
-
100% the culture is miles away from it where it was previously.
-
See my below post this isn’t just about protecting values of certain players but also the optics of having big wage earners sat on their arse doing nowt.
-
These are all big earners especially for this division, Faes, Winks, VK, Soumare, Daka even with relegation deductions will be earning over £200k per week. There aren’t many businesses or owners happy to see and allow £10m in salaries to effectively be sat at home. I think he has been told once the window shut, you have to utilise the squad and in particular these expensive assets. It’s not a good look to an owner or DoF to have that level of expenditure rotting in the stands.
-
😂😂 nobody said or is saying that however if you think the manager has carte Blanche to pick who he wants and can freeze out all the top earners at the club, especially ours where there is a history of player power and players running to the owner, then you sir are an ostrich 😂😂
-
Faes and Winks came in pretty much straight after the window closed. VK is another who came back into the match day squad, once available. Personally I wouldn’t have had Faes, Winks, Soumare, VK or Daka anywhere near the squad this season as I don’t think any of them are committed to the cause and cannot wait to get our, however I ain’t so sure our manager is afforded the same choices by his bosses.

I imagine the reason Marti sings his praises so much will be down to his attitude, application and the fact he is committed to the club and the cause. whilst he may not be the 1st name on anyone’s starting XI he has been pretty good when he has played and has been effective. -
As I have said previously I ain’t sure Marti wants to pick some of them, I think once the transfer window closed he was told to reintegrate certain players and they had to be included in the match day squad to keep them in the shop window and to retain some negotiating position for the January window. the fact they weren’t necessarily in the starting XI at the start of the season backs that up.

Jordan James joins on loan - Official

This lad embodies everything we should be looking for in our signings moving forward, wants to be here, very good player, always gives 100% and you can clearly see wants to play for the manager. The sooner the wantaways bugger off and we can start to field a match day squad full of players committed to the club and the manager the better. -
I think it’s very much the culture and the fact we have a group of players wanting out or knowing they won’t be here next season who to put it simply don’t care enough and I think this is making it difficult to find consistency and create any kind of team spirit and cohesion. I imagine it’s a pretty toxic environment at the moment and not one that would be great for young players to thrive in nor too build a promotion challenge.
-
Everyone was buzzing about the Fioretina performance and how that style would bode for the season and then something changed almost overnight, I would love to know what it was, it feels to me that is the level Cifuentes wants but something, somebody or a group don’t like it so it ain’t happening. It doesn’t add up.
-
James is absolute class however Winks turns it on if and when he can be arsed personally I would be happy for Winks to be sat with others such as VK, Faes, Soumare etc sat in the stands until they get the moves away they have been angling for for months if not years in a couple of cases.
-
I disagree since Winks came into the side we have won twice. It makes me think him and a few others who were on the periphery before the window closed and since been reintegrated are a massive part of the problem, whether this has been Marti’s choice or a decision forced on him from his bosses remains to be seen.

Realistic Managerial Replacements
Claudio Fannieri replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Good suggestions but highly unlikely we take such a chance, much more likely we stick to the tried and tested of having some experience in English football. It will be Russell Martin 🤮 -
I have a feeling he was given an ultimatum of securing at least 6 points from this run of 3 games this week. I think he knows unless we get a very convincing win and performance it’s highly likely he is gone.
-
No I am suggesting that isn’t necessarily at the managers door but more down to circumstances or individual player desire to be here and give 100%
-
You mean Winks and Faes who both desperately want out, Fatawu who is coming back from a lengthy injury, Mavididi who has looked lost and out of form for about a year and James who is playing out of position because of Ramsey’s absence. We are a very different club from that in 23/24 where we still were able to bring in a number of quality signings including Winks, Mav and Abdul who were all buzzing to be here, fast forward 2 years and a relegation the mood is very different.
-
He hasn’t but not sure anyone would given half the squad don’t want to be here or won’t be here next season, there is no jeopardy for these players on huge wages and the ear of the DoF and owner as soon as anyone dares question or challenge them. This manager and whoever follows him as little chance of cajoling this lot into a cohesive unit unless said DoF and owner supports the manager in having a group of players earning in excess of £300k per week / £15m per year sat in the stands and in a training ground bomb squad.
-
I will say it again, a disciplinarian will not solve these issues unless they receive the full backing of Top and Rudkin to change the culture at the club. RVN came in and tried to change the culture, punish poor behaviour and standards and didn’t get the backing from his bosses and the players threw him under a bus. Even if a Pearson type character came in he can only be successful if he is supported and backed, not undermined by players running to the DoF or owner behind the managers back. Whoever the next manager is has to be backed to the hilt to manage and remove the bad eggs, this is only way the club can rebuild and move forward as a collective unit and group. Currently it feels like the culture is rotten which makes the job of the manager pretty much impossible. If Marti is sacked it will be 3 managers potted in circa 50 games, that is unsustainable and there appears to be no long term planning, strategy or project.
-
I am sorry but I think he is taking the piss, when he can be arsed he is quality but way too often now he is playing within himself, his antics at the start of the season especially at Preston when he pretty much downed tools and clearly wanted out shows his true colours. We have won 1 game this season when he has started, he is in the bin alongside Faes and the others that want away and disrespect our club.

Absolutely nails it for me 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I haven’t said Kingy should be manager at any point in my post.

Norwich (A) - Pre-Match Depression Chat

I think some of the players are clearly not having him and plus given a good few also have their eyes on getting out of here it’s an absolute recipe for failure. Something has happened since that Fiorentina game because it’s just dropped off the edge of a cliff since then. One win last 10 games since reintegrating certain individuals back into the starting XI and match day squads tells you all you need to know about the culture around the club and how damaging having players who have clearly checked out still involved is doing to results. it’s so flat and you can see it’s sucking the life out of the players who do want to be here and the fans. If it’s of Marti’s choosing to be selecting certain players then he can only have himself to blame however if this is a directive coming from elsewhere then if Marti does get the Norwich game I hope he goes rogue.
