What I am saying is if we organise ourselves correctly and have the right structure and culture in place, where you look 1, 2 maybe even 3 appointments ahead you will have a plan a, b and c in place to ensure each time a manager is poached we are in a position to replace them with a manager who can come in and continue the progression, we did it so well with Little, McGhee and then O’Neill, Brighton do it so well now in the current era, however let’s be honest ever since KP came in they never seem to have a managerial strategy it’s so scattergun and reactive. Dyche is not a progressive option, it’s a stale, unimaginative choice and shows zero strategy or alignment to our current squad or the number of talented youngsters coming through the academy, for me it has to be Rohl but then we should be looking at managers like Wellens, Cleverley etc with an eye to the future if and when Rohl moves on.
-
My stance isn’t weird, I don’t want us to settle for a manager that nobody else will come in and want to poach, it’s stinks of settling for mediocrity, when we have done well it’s always been under young progressive managers like Little, McGhee, O’Neill, Pearson, Enzo. Even Rodgers in his first 2 and a half years. Ranieri is the outlier and what he delivered was unbelievable, but in reality if we make “safe” stale appointments we are just going to fall further and further behind the rest and lose our opportunity to build a bright exciting future using our academy. Not for me, I don’t want to see Dyche here turning us into another West Brom, Blackburn, Norwich, Watford, Stoke etc

Personal view we got the appointments the wrong way round, Ruud would have been better replacement for Enzo, give him a summer and the recruitment I think we would have been in a far better position longer term, likewise had we made a change half way through the season and needed someone to make a better fist of fighting for survival then cooper was probably a better fit than Ruud for the circumstances. Just further demonstrates the poor decision making at the Top of the club, wrong appointments for wrong situations. -
You mean someone past it or shite like Cooper because that is what we talking about a manager who nobody else would poach, look how that turned out, let him bring in past it guff like Ayew and BDCR, spent a fortune on Skipp and signed a loanee in Edouard who only featured in the matchday squad a handful of minutes more than I did and to then sack him within 6 months. We have to be progressive and ambitious for whatever level we are at, so I want to see managers with high ceilings not a name who has been on the merry go round just because they are deemed old school and might ruffle a few feathers, when in truth all they will do is disengage the players with out dated tactics and methods.
-
We really are at a low point if we are wanting to appoint a manager on the basis they aren’t going to be poached by another club. If we want to progress again as a club then we have to be ambitious and that means going for the best available candidate with the highest ceiling and if that means having to go through another recruitment process in 18 months - 2years time then so be it. Appoint crap and we will be looking for a new manager in 12 months time anyway but instead of getting a decent wedge in compo we will be paying out hefty severance packages. The club need to operate like Martin George did, appoint young, hungry upcoming managers and constantly monitor and update potential future targets so when the time comes and our manager is poached like Enzo, we are positioned ready with a shortlist of 4/5 ready made replacements.

A Rangers ITK reckons the fee is £1.8m but will be announced as undisclosed. I wonder if some of the reported £7.5m included performance bonuses linked to staying in premier league. Therefore the 1.8m breaks even or maybe a very small profit for us. -
Wonder what happened to the rumours that he wanted out and we had been meeting perspective DoF’s as early as January. Gone really quiet since and would seem he is as embedded as ever
-
Wonder if he is an agent now

Interesting that usually when we announce a manager leaving it is followed by the sentence the process to identify and appoint our new manager will now commence ……today that wasn’t said which makes me think it is done snd dusted and will be announced by Tuesday -
If Rohl does come in wonder if we go for James Beadle and Shea Charles who he had on loan at Sheff Wednesday last season.
-
Interestingly Dyche is odds on with the mainstream bookies but with Betfair Rohl is 1/12 and Dyche is 20/21 but odds drifting.
-
Thanks for the info pal much appreciated. Really hope it’s true as he would be a fantastic appointment and one to really give us a massive boost and positive momentum going into the new season
-
No wonder he is no longer under consideration then 😂
-
When do you think it will be announced, seems to me deal is agreed with Rohl it’s just a case of him finalising his exit. Hopefully announced Tuesday at the very latest.
-
The compensation pal
-
Rohl on a 3 year deal would cost us £333k a year. For perspective we spaffed £20m and the equivalent of £5m per year on Oliver Skipp …….Rudkin and Top don’t make the mistake of skimping on a manager to then spunk money on shit players. oh and if you needed any further reason to make him our new manager most if not all his backroom staff will be out of contract come Tuesday.

Pearson was very good in terms of recruitment, didn’t always get it right but I believe him and his team placed a lot on personality and character etc -

Also one thing to bear in mind with Rohl is that most of his backroom staff are out of contract so won’t need to pay compensation, think he will be appointed with a back room team and Kingy from 1st July.

I think it’s more likely that the club wanted to be 100% clear on financial year end position and timing means they are comfortable that the pay off can be absorbed in this financial year rather than the new one. Also means they can use the headroom for Rohl’s compo. -
He is if he has demonstrated no real inclination to blood academy players when we are financially snookered and going to have to be heavily reliant on our academy to help our rebuild. That makes Dyche as much of a risk, we saw last summer the damage of appointing a manager who is not aligned and then starts pushing for his own players, Cooper royally fecked us with is scattergun approach, my fear is Dyche would create similar issues and only lead us into further problems down the line.
-
Difference is they probably pay a fraction in wages to their dross, where we massively overpay our shite, which makes it impossible to shift them on.
-
I agree Rohl has to be the no 1 target, I just have a massive issue with Dyche being the alternative as it’s such a big shift away and I really don’t think he is the right person to harness and blood the talent in the academy, that is why I think Carrick would be my 2nd choice and Cifuentes 3rd with Dyche as far away from consideration as possible.
-
Personally I would swap Cifunetes and Carrick above Dyche as I think both a better suited to our squad and the need to promote our academy players.
-
However a top drawer lawyer like a certain Mr Di Marco should be able to drive a bus through that and bring the whole PSR charade down, whilst the premier league may turn a blind eye, a legal challenge would bring this down like a pack of cards. I ain’t sure we are going to get hit quite as hard as some think, for the very reason that some of the work arounds being used by clubs like Chelsea make it a farce and therefore the authorities would be wise to be seen to punish us but at a level that doesn’t create a legal challenge and further scrutiny on a set of “rules” that are losing credibility by the minute.
