  1. We need to do something different trouble is our options are pretty uninspiring and with Okoli seemingly not available as he is leaving due to homesickness limits us even more. I would tweak it slightly today and go 3 at the back if we can get Okoli’s head right and back available Stolrcyrk Faes Vestergaard Okoli or Justin McAteer or Coulibaly Skipp Winks Kristiansen Facundo Bilal Vardy as I think a misfiring Vards is still more effective than Daka
  2. Top post and I have said the same in the Ruud thread regards Pearson or Puel coming back as a Technical Director
  3. I am not in charge but if it was my club, my restructure would be as follows on the footballing side, remove the role of DoF and replace as follows. Technical Director - takes responsibility for setting strategic direction, sports science, technical analysts and how the academy interlinks with the first team and creating a genuine pathway. Head of Recruitment - agrees the profile of players with Technical Director and Head Coach and heads up the scouting department Head of Football Administration - has responsibility for negotiating transfers and player contracts following input from Technical Director, Head of Recruitment and Head Coach and working with the finance team to navigate PSR compliance Head Coach - responsible for first team management and coaching Now if we do get relegated I really can’t see Ruud hanging around to manage us in the championship especially if he feels he has been thrown under the bus by Rudders and Top. So this represents an ideal opportunity to refresh. For me I would look to the following people who know the club and would potentially help set us up the right way for sustainable success and create a succession plan and strategy for the future. Technical Director - Either of Pearson or Puel would be superb in this role Head of Recruitment - Bring back Steve Walsh or Macia, both have a proven track record of recruiting top drawer players and unearthing some real gems. Both can work equally well with small or decent budgets Head of Football Administration - Recruit a top level executive with a demonstrated history of negotiating contracts etc, finance & administration within a sporting environment. Head coach - I would be happy with any of the following Danny Rohl, John Eustace who are both doing great jobs at clubs that have basket case ownership and challenging environments to work in. Also add to that Tom Cleverly who is doing good things as Watford who are also a difficult club to work at, my out of the box appointment would be Richie Wellens who has done really good things at Leyton Orient taking them up from league 2 and now challenging for play offs in league 1, whilst playing some decent football.
  4. However even if Rudkin is shifted to the side or promoted out of his current role, nothing will happen immediately more likely he would step aside in the summer and a new DoF coming in at the end of the season. Whilst it’s positive change there is still a hell of a lot of damage can be done between now and then.
  5. I think we will be attractive, although our title win was nearly 10 years ago it did massively raise our profile across the world, we have a decent stadium and we attract 30k+ for home games, even last season our attendances were pretty solid, then add in a world class training facility, and that makes us an attractive option for anyone wanting to buy an established club, where the challenge comes is at what asking price and that is where it could be difficult as I am fairly sure KP will value the club a lot higher than perhaps what the club is valued to an outside investor.
  6. Reckon this lad will have a good career at Cbanpionship level, very much like Billy Sharp will bag a decent volume of goals but not sure he has the all round game to be a prolific striker at the very top of the game. However if we do let him leave and £10m rising to £13m is a decent enough deal, as it should generate around £5m to the PSR bottom line with the opportunity for a further £2.5m if we secure the add ons. That means we have £20-25m we can add to this transfer windows kitty, over to Rudders to spend it wisely …..£25m bid for Danny Ings incoming 😂
  7. I agree we need to be looking at high end EFL players who can come in hit the ground running if relegated but also have the potential to be decent in the prem. Over the next couple of windows I would be more than happy to see us go for players such as - Alfie Gilchrist - been on loan at Sheff United and it’s time to move Riccy P on in the summer Jordan Beyer - to play alongside Nelson Ben Sheaf - as we will no doubt lose Winks, Soumare and Wilf Anis Mehmeti - give us genuine options and competition for Mavididi Kwame Poku - has looked a real talent at Peterborough
  8. Absolutely bang on 👏🏼👏🏼
  9. How do you know they are low balling us, we could have agreed terms in principle but we are dragging our heels in rubber stamping it and closing it out.
  10. I think the reason he is available is more due to home sickness and not settling rather than anything else. And I tend to agree if he was happy to stay I would arguably make him first choice alongside a new CB signing
  11. We are fecking useless even when presented on a plate for us to move on deadwood we drag our heals 😩
  12. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  13. I have run out of reactions, this 100% nails it for me 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  14. His list of misdemeanours this season include - 1) Appointing Cooper 2) Signing Ayew 3) Signing Skipp for £20m + 4) Signing BDCR 5) Not addressing the need for defensive reinforcements 6) Signing Eduoard 7) Not shifting out any of Ward, Iversen, Thomas, Choudhury leaving us with a bloated squad of dross and limited quality especially from the bench and rotation options 8) Spaffing most of our budget so we have very limited room for manoeuvre in the January transfer window. All of the above and the relegation. 2 years ago is more than enough to demonstrate it is time for a change.
  15. Absolutely bang on, we created more than enough and in general looked pretty good and solid but truth is at key moments we lacked the necessary quality at both ends of the pitch. That isn’t on Ruud, the lack of recruitment in key areas whilst spaffing a heap of dough on squad fillers like Ayew, Reid, Skipp etc has absolutely killed us. Our current options across the back 4 reek relegation and yet this wasn’t addressed, we have some key players like Mads, Riccy, Wilf and Abdul missing as well and the alternatives/ replacements are sub standard, again not on Ruud but the board and Cooper for such a scattergun recruitment policy. Feel for Ruud at the moment, up against it and let’s be honest isn’t blessed with a plethora of options.
  16. Out of possession we have a looked a lot better and in possession some of our passages of play have been excellent, just lacked a cutting edge, we have to take our chances when in the ascendancy, just got to hope we can maintain the stranglehold we have and be ruthless in front of goal.
  17. Nixon is now reporting that Sheff Utd have now offered £10m up front plus £3m in add ons reckon we will snap their hand off for that as that gives us a decent PSR return and the chance to spend an additional £20m +
  18. Given we have recalled him, we must have agreed a deal that ensures we have additional money to spend in this window. Either Sunderland have agreed to a permanent deal now with a promotion add on or Sheffield United have improved their offer. I think we will be looking for a fee of around £10m plus promotion add on. That should give us £5-6m PSR profit and chuck another £20-30m into the January kitty
  19. He cost circa £15m IIRC so book value will be between £6-7.5m depending how we treat the PSR write down in season. Therefore if we can recoup the £15m we paid for him we are will book a £7.5m to £9m profit for this seasons PSR which unlocks between £30m and £45m we can reinvest. This is most definitely being leaked with a view to cashing in this month and trying to create additional opportunities to bring in incomings.
  20. It’s being reported we currently have £12-14m to spend in this window, so the reality is we need to sell to generate more PSR wriggle room to buy new players. Whilst the Sunderland deal looks good on paper, another loan albeit with a promotion obligation doesn’t really resolve our need now, especially if Sunderland tank in the 2nd half of the season. Whilst Sheff Utd’s valuation is lower it does give us immediate cash however I wonder if we could use their interest in Hamza as leverage, offer them the chance to sign Cannon for £7m + a promotion add on but only if they sign Hamza on a permanent deal as well. That way we could generate £5m of profit which translates to circa £20/25m of additional transfer funds plus we would have freed up a decent wedge of wages.
  21. I have been very critical of Rudkin and Co for our recent troubles but also deserves credit for ensuring we have managed to stay compliant for this reporting period, he now needs to pull a few rabbits out of the hat in this transfer window both incoming and outgoing.
  22. If we sell for £15m which isn’t extortionate for a current international defender that would give us £24-30m to spend on a player on a 4/5 year deal in PSR terms in this window.
  23. Interesting this has been leaked now, perhaps to try and generate an offer in this window
  24. Or maybe there is interest in Daka, if we can’t shift Eduoard back to Palace, maybe we are considering cutting our losses on Patson, I think Cannon could provide cover/rotation for Vardy and offers more potential and in the event we are relegated he is ready made for that league. Would rather take £10m for Daka and shift his wages off the books than a similar fee for Cannon who in my opinion will have a greater sell on and be better suited for where we are than Daka, who even in the championship after an initial burst absolutely tanked.
  25. I am pretty sure he was linked when Cooper was assembling his must have premier league experience recruitment list so hopefully it’s an old and lazy link.
