The ref was poor but both decisions are defensible - Fatwu needs to learn that in that moment, after a contentious penalty, crowd and ref have heightened senses so more important to keep a cool head. He lost his unfortunately.
Enzo needs a plan b that doesn’t involve solely defending and the subs continue to baffle - bad day and fair play to Cov for taking advantage of our shortcomings.
Totally agree with this - his cameos had me worried! I also liked his defending from the front - a bit of aggressive pressing that Kels and Patson don’t do.
I’ve been looking closely and haven’t seen anything yet either. He doesn’t look like the answer to our wastefulness but hope I’m at least partially wrong.
Some blue noses I live close to expect a close game as Rooney has settled on a more defensive set up of late. We’re not great against a low block - hoping they give us some room with them being at home but we might get a bit more of a tactical game than we would have at the start of Roooney’s regime.
Very frustrating today - moving the quickly from defence is a problem as is our lack of goal threat when we get there. Nacho isn’t aggressive or goal hungry enough and Vards doesn’t have the legs.
I think that Mads being so good with the ball is actually a downside for us at times as it’s so easy to pass the ball back rather than create movement forwards. When we transition quickly we’re good but don’t it nearly enough.
Missed Winks today too -,KDH had too much creativity on his shoulders with Hamza basically just sitting in and offering little going forward.
Welcome 3 points though.
Done right it’s the right thing to do as it creates space further up the pitch. We need space there as a low block brings our attack threat down significantly. Hull showed how we find it difficult to break a disciplined defensive unit down.
