The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
Balj replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
My days of ‘fast’ running are a bit behind me (2:47 marathon etc) - any ultra runners on here? I’m running Wildhorse 200 in a few weeks and have full Dragons Back in September. Will be collecting my sixth star in NY in November though. -
Debated going to this and will do so - shlep over from the West Midlands but will give the ST a last outing until next season. Renewed despite the temptation not to - the finance situation means it’s not a case of being able to clear the decks and start again - it’s more existential than that. Was pacing the Coventry Half Marathon last weekend and surrounded by very happy Cov fans - to be fair to them when we were talking football they had nothing but sympathy for our plight. Recognised the lack of effort from the players and the bizarre decision making at the top and from Top. They’ve been there. 0-2.

Agreed on both counts - and that song is a dirge. Bloody awful and needs consigning to the sepia tinged memories of a few. Move on (and my first game was 1973).

Anthony Herlihy – Director of Noncommunication

Bring back the t-shirt cannons. The sheer ineptitude of their aim was a welcome distraction from the sheer ineptitude of aim of our forwards. And the Red Leicester sausage rolls. -
He doesn’t have a single redeeming feature - he’s a waste of a shirt anywhere on the pitch. He runs into defenders like he’s running in the woods in the dark.

The lack of positive intent (defensively and attacking) makes us look like a team put out for the opposition to train against. Its so depressing to see us go down in this fashion - it’s been in the cards for a number of seasons.

Perfect - 🙏🏼 thank you 👍🏼

Anyone else waiting for their ticket to update? Still stuck on Bristol City.

That was so poor - fair result. We have too few legs, brains and desire in too many areas to be successful at the moment. We can only hope there is a longer term plan than this season but I fear not..
-
It’s just funny now.

Cross at will - nothing positive so far

Fatawu is no longer playing football - hasn’t for a while.

I get no sense that manager or players start the game with an active desire and proactive plan to score goals and/or win. I have no doubt they want both of those things but that’s different to really wanting it. They just seem to ‘do football’ and see what happens and accept the natural consequence. That combined with some players way beyond their ability and/or sell by date means there is no surprise as to where we are. I say this knowing that since Vardy was at his best (not since the title win) we have also had a gaping hole at the top of the pitch - quite why we haven’t signed a competent striker since then given some of the signings we’ve made is a total mystery. Maresca overcame that with midfield goals but our midfield (including Fatawu and Steph) cannot hope to compensate. But, yes I’ll be back for Ipswich hoping…

West Bromwich Albion (A) Friday 26th September - 20.00 KO

Looking for one if possible 🙏🏼Sorted. -
Thought he was very decent last night - he’s been stuck with a lightweight reputation from the past but he seems to be maturing. Could add a bit more strength but doing better than his reputation with some of our fans.

I remember this one but my wokeness thought the fox hunting reference (the hunting horns) may not be appropriate now - however it’s a symbol/heritage sign not an endorsement of hunting so yes agreed.

Is anything planned by the Club for Vards last home game?
-
They’re an irritating team, stadium and fan base. Hope they go out.

Still not forgiven him for Lennon and his pathetic attempt to ransom the FA to let him off - dick.
-
Up there for one of the worst commentaries this season - twaddle.

I’m an ultra runner not a physio but have suffered most running related injuries including IT band. Once you have it there is not a lot to be done other than rest it. In terms of exercise there isn’t a ‘cure’ but you could try foam rolling, scraping (graston) and stretching to ease the symptoms. Once you recover - and it could be many weeks strengthening the hips and glutes with stretching/yoga/pilates as well will help it from recurring. Good luck - no magic bullet sadly. -

Can’t make a Friday evening game due to work commitments -
I’m going to be putting 2 in J2 on the resale platform shortly.

I normally park at The Quays by Media City - shopping centre or around there in a public car park. Just over the canal so @15 min walk but can grab some decent food beforehand. Not bad to get away from either.
