It's probably because it's so unbelievably obvious why it actually winds people up. Apparently everyone can tell except the people who are annoyed. Shaking hands at the end of the match could be called virtue signalling. Same for doing minutes silence before a game. But of course no one gets wound up about those.

I still don't feel like I really understand what's happened that's got us into this mess. Can anyone explain it in a couple of sentences? Is it that we had a transfer policy that revolved around selling one player for triple what we bought them for each year and we had one year where that didn't happen? Or is there more to it than that?
