  1. I can obviously only speak for myself, but I definitely wouldn’t be celebrating if an Oil State (or any state) purchased us. Some things are more important than football.
  2. I might be old fashioned, but I don’t want a Country/State that kills and dismembers the body of a journalist any where near my club.
  3. Buying the club for £150 - £200 million just to flog some second hand treadmills and build few houses around Filbert Street doesn’t sound like a sound financial plan.
  4. The demands and role of CM is changing. Physicality, aggression and speed are highly valued. Youri is not blessed with traits. He’s quickly merging into a ‘luxury player’. I can’t imagine any big European club giving him/agent a bumper signing on fee and £150k - £200k a week.
  5. Apathy has been allowed to fester and spread across the entire club. I imagine most of us have witnessed it at work one time or another. It’s really difficult to rectify and usually takes a radical overhaul.
  6. A good player, although I can’t escape the feeling he’s consciously/subconsciously ‘downed tools’ this season. I’m not sure where he’ll go. 18 months ago I would argue most of Europe’s elite clubs would be clambering for his signature. Now I’m not so sure. The position/the way he plays feels slightly dated. Physicality is increasingly becoming a more desired trait. Perhaps one of the Italian clubs? Although I imagine he’ll have to reduce his wage demands.
  7. Top is ultimately responsible. I appreciate Covid meant his focus was elsewhere, but he should of put measures/people in place at City that compensated for his lack of involvement. That said, we all make mistakes and hopefully he’ll recognise the ones he has made. I do think a major change in senior non footballing management is needed.
  8. We were poor when we played them earlier in the season (especially in the 1st half). That said, they were also pretty poor. Mitrović being banned is a huge bonus. Need to ensure Barnes is aware of his defensive responsibilities. He sure wasn’t the last time!!!!
  9. Still think he’s better playing a deeper, behind another striker. When Madders leaves (presumably in the summer), I imagine he’ll take over his position in the team.
  10. Agree. If indeed true, the DoF and Chairman need to take some responsibility. What were they doing?
  11. It’s a bit unfair criticising any of players who we signed in January. It’s difficult to excel in a negative and fraught environment. I’m more than happy to extend his loan if we stay up. Although I’m not sure this is feasible.
  12. Just relaying what I’ve heard (family member works there). There is apparently 4 players who City reckon can play in the Premiership. If this is true, makes our situation much better.
  13. The ‘top six’/Newcastle are the only prem clubs that can regularly buy £40 million + players (just look at Everton). This is why Seagrave was built. I know the club is excited by and putting a lot of faith in our under 21 squads. This and clever signings (Brentford/Brighton led the way) is the way forward.
  14. I generally agree. If we get relegated, it’s because we’ve conceded far to many goals. You’re also correct in highlighting the decline in quality of our squad. Ironically, this arguably makes a target striker a useful option. It’s no coincidence that ‘lesser clubs’ tend to use Target strikers. They allow you play more defensive as a team. You may score less goals, but….. What I find inexcusable about the last 18 months, is that Rodgers didn’t really change our style of play/tactics. He new that a few of our key players were ageing/had serious injuries/near to end of their contract and that the replacements weren’t good enough. But generally kept things the same!!!!
  15. A relative works third at weekends/some evenings. He says that the club are very excited by a few of our under 21 players and can see them stepping up to the first team. This is partly due to Seagrave.
  16. If this is indeed true, then the decision to delay the sacking of Rodgers is inexcusable.
  17. The lack of accountability/foresight is a joke. DoF seems to be immune to the footballing adage that “it’s all about the results”. A cynic could argue that it’s not in his interest for the DoF to appoint a manager who will challenge and question him. Hence this appointment. There is nothing to suggest this appointment will turn out well. Add to the fact that the club needs an unprecedented rebuild, which will define our club for several years to come, the future doesn’t bode well.
  18. Exactly. A wrong appointment and could be in a Martin Allen situation.
  19. Whatever league we’re in next season, our team needs a major rebuild. The numbers of players coming and going will be significant. Team cohesion is therefore vital. The appointment of a manager who can organise a squad (particularly the defence) and instil a footballing system that the players understand is vital. I think Rafa can achieve this.
  20. I don’t think it’s necessary about Rudkin’s ability. No well run organisation would allow one individual to manage all those tasks. It’s ridiculous on so many levels. It encourages internal empire building and disharmony.
  21. Agree. I genuinely couldn’t tell you if it’s a good point or a wasted opportunity.
  22. A negative response: “Celebrating a point away to Brentford is indicative of our current predicament”. A positive response: Celebrating a point away to Brentford is indicative of our current predicament.
  23. “training to an acceptable level” is such a vacuous, vague and subjective statement. I really wish Rodgers was more specific with his criticism of Soyuncu and highlighted the objective and measurable targets he is not reaching in training. Also, if Soyuncu is consistently not reaching his objective and measurable training targets over a significant period of time, WTF is he doing near the 1st team squad. It undermines Rodger’s authority and potentially damages team morale.
  24. I don’t know what that means.
  25. What he earns is irrelevant. If he presented the news or Question Time, then his tweet would of been inappropriate. Then again, Andrew Neil can present a BBC politics show wearing an Adam Smith institute tie and be the chairman of the Spectator, so……
