A friend screenshot a few ‘theories’ from a MC forum. All the American club owners are apparently Islamophobic and have joined forces to punish MC. Bonkers.
-
I totally agree. I imagine MC have always known it will eventually catch up on them. While MC fight the charges, they will probably start an all out PR campaign to ensure they can control and frame the agenda. They’ll start putting out ridiculous “we’re going to be thrown out” stories. And like you say, when the actual punishment is meted out, PL will inevitably look weak.
-
I appreciate the ‘they’ll just get a fine” argument, but if found guilty, I genuinely believe the punishment will be significantly more severe. A fine doesn’t help the PL case that it can competently regulate itself. In fact, issuing Man City a fine could be the final proof the Gov needs to bring in an independent regulator. For purely self interest, the PL may have to punish Man City more severely.

Agree, but every other club will be aware it’s a fire sale. I’ve just read that Mount has rejected Chelsea’s contract offer. I reckon it could swiftly turn into Leeds/Risdale situation.
-
Although I have no qualms that is the dream, realistically, that’s not going to happen in the next 5 years or so. In the meantime, Chelsea are walking a very precious tightrope. It’s potentially a disaster waiting to happpen.
-
The sad thing is that I don’t think Chelsea have actually broken FFP rules (yet!!’). I read somewhere they have ‘protected’ themselves by offering ludicrous long term contracts and thus paying lower transfer fee instalments over a longer period of time. chelsea’s approach does seem to be a huge gamble mind you. I imagine it’s based on the assumption that they will have regular CL football. Moreover, all it takes is a couple of duff purchases or couple of players with serious repeating injuries and they are stuck with them for several years. I don’t think many other PL could or be prepared to do this. NB: I imagine UEFA/PL will swiftly put a stop to this type of shenanigans.

Centre midfield crisis on the horizon?
Glorious Leicester Fan replied to Bourbon Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Next season’s midfield is to some extent determined on whether we can keep Tete (or sign someone similar). His, Barnes and the attacking fullbacks, give us the opportunity to sacrifice a bit of creativity and allow us to become a bit more stable in the middle of the park. This is why I’m not that worried when Youri leaves. A great player, but arguably too creative for that position in a team like us. Considering all we need for that position is someone athletic and technically competent, his replacement wouldn’t need to cost the earth. Moreover, when Maddison leaves (presumably in the summer), we have a much broader pool to find his replacement from. -
Victor Kristiansen Officially Signs

I always thought Thomas’ temperament allowed Barnes to get away with murder. I have no qualms VK will put Barnes straight. -
He obviously has the desire/ability to run from deep, beyond the striker and into the penalty box. This alone will drastically change how we play (obviously for the better).

Victor Kristiansen Officially Signs

I love how he took out one of their players in the 1st half. Thomas wouldn’t of done that. -

Especially if players are willing to run past him. -
I apologise if this is old news, but Man City apparently put an offer in for him: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-city-james-maddison-transfer-26131862?fbclid=IwAR1Xw4pVwTvENpgQ3Jbnd2sklKLG-QZYW4LKccgGBj4LfS4S5WIHH2SJAzo#ldn69j7aei639dvjf3j

Grow up. He accepted the contract that the club offered him. He is under no obligation to accept any transfer/loan offer. If you want to vent your anger towards anyone, it’s the folk who offered him the contract. Not sure this is relevant to the discourse, but according to a friend who works at the training ground, Vestergaard is a decent chap. He’s polite and courteous. The signing didn’t work out. These things happen.
-
Agree. Although, the case could be made that it works both ways. In the first half against Fulham, Mitrovic was frequently drifting to the left side of our penalty box. Faes was happy to let Thomas deal with him. The situation was exasperated by Barnes lack of defensive support, which meant Thomas was regularly against the opposition’s RB, RW (and occasionally Mitrovic). Is it any wonder he’s sometimes out of position?
-
Financially, it wouldn’t be in his interest to sign for a club in January. Any transfer fee we receive in January will go directly to him (signing on fee/wages) in July.
-
But has he played for 2 clubs this season? Wasn’t he transferred to Torino at the start of the season? I don’t know.

On their own, these numbers don’t actually reveal much (I’m a Data Scientist). For example, our wages are not symmetrically shared across the squad. Any ‘average’ figure will be significantly skewed.
-
I know it’s only YouTube, but at first glance he seems to be both strong and aggressive. I really hope he takes no crap and starts his Leicester career by persuasively reminding Barnes of his defensive responsibilities.

Time for the owners to sell up
Glorious Leicester Fan replied to frany104's topic in Leicester City Forum
To whom? I don’t think we’ll attract the attention of an oil State. That possibly leaves only a consortium/hedge fund, a potentially worrying proposition (see Coventry). Like most of us, I’m exasperated by the current situation. But the grass is….. -
The only way Chelsea have been able to stay within FFP rules is by offering players ludicrously long contracts and paying the transfer fee over that period. It’s such a risky gamble and it will most probably end in tears. Giving an injury prone Fofana a 7 year contract is crazy. Ditto the unproven Mudryk. I suppose they would argue it’s the only way they can compete with the State funded clubs.
-
He spent most of the first half with his back facing their goal. When the ball was played to his feet he didn’t have the skills (strength/touch) to control/pass or turn their RB.
-
Both Barnes & Faes didn’t do him any favours last night. Faes was happy to pass Mitrovoc onto Thomas to mark. Barnes didn’t do any tracking back. In the first half Thomas was constantly having to deal with both Fulham’s RB and RW.
