  1. I knew my decision to book a holiday and miss the end of the season was a wise one, particularly as I'm on the other side of the world to sleep through the matches
  2. Yep. And, every time I get a breaking news notification, I automatically think 'wtf has he done now'... usually followed by 'for foxes sake' or words similar
  3. I'm not a parent but I've never known my mates let their kids out, without knowing where they are now. We used to disappear off in the morning and not be back for hours. But, the fields we played in are housing estates now, the quiet roads we were safe to ride our bike on, are now too busy.
  4. Good advise to start again. It would also be worth looking for evergreen shrubs, small ones that will also flower. Azalea or rhododendron type. Alongside looking for perennial plants that come every year, check the flowering times, you can plan for flowers for many months that way.
  5. Thanks. A friend has just mentioned Parity, he also deals with them a lot professionally and offered to contact them for me. If he doesn't get back to me, that would be great.
  6. I don't have any dealings with a broker or mortgage provider but, I did think of asking the Solicitor acting for the other party, if they could recommend anyone, they dealt with our house purchase and I arranged for them to act for the other party.
  7. I might be reviewing the decision not to do it myself. The first solicitor i called has quoted £1100! The person transferring the land to me is 'only' paying £850. I'll see what the next quotes are but that seems very steep to file a form.
  8. As there's no Easter statement, which QE2 didn't make either, a few people are causing ripples on SM, after Charles made Eid and other statements. Just recently, William made a statement affirming his Christian beliefs, he's just quieter about them. So, yes, he can be considered 'defender of the faith' when he succeeds.
  9. The police investigated, there was insufficient evidence for a prosecution, no arrests made and no convictions. Mills was therefore not arrested or charged with any crime and free to continue with his life. The Greenwood case was withdrawn, as the witness withdrew their statement. He was arrested, there was adequate evidence to do so but he wasn't cleared as, it didn't go to trial. But, evidence had been in the public domain which showed his appalling behaviour. So, the two are quite different. One case had enough evidence of wrong doing for prosecution and one didn't.
  10. I'm going in 3 weeks. It was booked before Trump was elected again. I'd hoped that they wouldn't be that stupid twice. And, whilst we avoid his states while in California and Washington state, we are unfortunately, going to some Trump supporting areas in Miami and Alaska. But, we finish with a trip over the border up to you. I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to it, in the current situation.
  11. Nolan is a grade A twat who shouldn't be employed by anyone.
  12. Zoe Ball* has indeed left. I'll bet people are still watching... *Although, wasn't sacked.
  13. Gdansk is lovely. Beware that if you order a traditional breakfast, you get vodka!

    The Weather

We've just had some information from Greenscape, they did our solar and we were very happy with them for that.
  15. Initially, when I spoke to the Solicitors acting for the other party they suggested that I could do this but now recommends a Solicitor. I had a look at the gov website and I'm not fancying DIY, it doesn't make it sound as straightforward as I'd hoped. Unless I wasn't looking at the right information.
  16. Could anyone recommend a Solicitor, NW Leics preferably?Although, most will just work online now. I need one to file TR1 transfer of land documents with Land Registry.
  17. The Highcross is £5 for all day parking, £3 for 2 hours, which is good value for city centre parking.
  18. Ours is never off. The thermostat just controls if it's actively on. It's kicked in for an hour the past week. With the night-time temperatures at 1c or just above, it'll probably do the same for a while. I have adjusted the time in the evening when the target temperature increases to 20c but, don't tell the OH
  19. It's not the weirdest, when it comes to LCFC.
  20. It's a great city, the Antrim coast has stunning scenery.
  21. We had ours replaced with a 'proper roof' last year. We opted for a modern panel Ultrafram LivinRoof system rather than tiles. It's made a significant difference. It also cost a fairly significant amount, though. We used a company in Ilkeston. https://www.lifestylewindows.co.uk/conservatories/replacement-roofs Whatever you decide, do not insulate on the inside. And those cosy replacement panels cost about the same as having a full replacement roof.
  22. I've recently come to this conclusion. Just for the pure comedy value. I'm sure Forest will continue to be a shit show next season, too. Hopefully, a double Cov and forest relegation to look forward to. When Spurs said they were coming for us, I didn't realise this is what they meant
  23. Smart job @Izzy Sometimes, when it's that neglected and over run, the best plan is to just start again. I will say that paying a couple of hundred quid for a man with a machine to grind out the nearly 100 tree and shrub stumps we had, was money well spent.
