Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

But now who's going to get the ball to Daka for another fabulous finish! -
The long version, courtesy of Google AI: College football determines its national champion through a playoff system, currently the 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP), which replaced the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) in 2014 and the poll-based era before that. The CFP uses a committee to rank the top teams, with the four highest-ranked conference champions receiving automatic bids, to create a bracket-style tournament culminating in the CFP National Championship game to crown the champion. - Early Years (pre-1936): National champions were recognized through various polls, mathematical systems, and based on the subjective opinions of sportswriters or coaches. - AP Poll Era (1936-1997): The Associated Press (AP) poll provided a more defined way to determine a national champion, naming a champion based on a poll taken at the end of the regular season. - BCS (1998-2013): The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) was created to match the top two teams in a national championship game, based on a combination of computer rankings and polls. - CFP (2014-present): The CFP replaced the BCS, beginning with the 2014 season. The CFP system was expanded from four to twelve teams starting with the 2024 season, featuring a single-elimination playoff bracket. A Selection Committee of university administrators, athletic directors, and former coaches ranks the teams throughout the season. The five highest-ranked conference champions receive automatic bids into the playoff. The remaining seven teams are selected as at-large teams by the committee. The top four teams receive a first-round bye, with the remaining teams playing in the first round. The winners of the playoff advance to the semifinals, hosted by the New Year's Six bowls, with the victors playing in the CFP National Championship game.

College football is the apotheosis of American sport. For millions of us, fall Saturdays exist only for going to games and watching on TV. Its beauty is its regionalization and adherence to old traditions. What’s on the field, and the spectacle surrounding it, are equally compelling. Mascots and nicknames, rivalries, silly traditions and trophies, tailgating scenes -- these would be perfectly recognizable to our great-great-grandparents. It’s far from an NFL-type homogenized product. The results are far more random, and the venues and experiences far more unique. What’s happening to it as more and more money gets shoved in, is analogous to what’s happening to your football. The income is increasingly tilted from the have-nots to the haves. Games are scheduled 100% by and for the media giants. Local rivalries played since the 19th century have been shit-canned to set up coast-to-coast super leagues. The intense and cherished off-field part of the experience -- especially the brilliant marching bands -- is rarely shown on TV. But the fan bases will NEVER give it up. Games are available on DAZN … so I’m hoping enough are watching to keep a thread going. And that some of you might find it a better fit than the NFL -- even if the football isn't quite as polished.

That's a very good question So good, it keeps scores of journalists and commentators in a job. The short version is what @SouthStandUpperTier said The long version is a saga of power politics no less contentious than presidential elections. Since there appears to be a smidgen of interest, and since you guys can access games on DAZN, I am going to create a thread. We can discuss this, and not hijack the NFL thread.

Define "sad".

It’s far from an NFL-type homogenized product. The results are far more random, and the venues and experiences far more unique. When we are traveling in the fall, we always take in a game. We’ll be in Seattle in a few weeks to see our Buckeyes take on the Washington Huskies. At a waterfront stadium Everton FC couldn’t equal for all the EPL money in existence. What’s happening to it as more and more money gets shoved in, is the same as what’s happening to your football. The income is tilted from the have-nots to the haves. I’d start a thread here - but I’m guessing few Brits can even watch it. And I already spend too much time watching it and talking about it.

LCFC 2-0 Birmingham, post-match thread
KingsX replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
This is a league with meager quality, tedious to watch, occasionally entertaining. It’s been many years since a Leicester team fit it so well. If Cifuentes has this group on board and working for it after just a few games, he’s more or less what we need. 9 points from 4. Onward and upward … like a lorry grinding up a steep hill. -
Monga ... exquisite. 20 seconds of beautiful football out of 100 minutes ... and I'm ecstatic
-
this is the most pointless, repetitive comment in this forum and I'll be ignoring those who post it and I won't be convinced otherwise ...
-
Remember when we had a Moai in central defense, instead of as #9?
-
Watching this squad, I'm missing KDH, not Mahrez. Putting Mahrez into it would be like bolting an F1 car steering unit onto a one-speed bicycle.
-
-
Is that why we're unraveling.

Even more than we hate the Saudis. The Premier League at its usual ... choosing the lesser of evils
-
Clement, you got off waivers, hats off. The other two you are more than welcome to!
-
Just have a thought for fans of the club that produced him and three other Cy Young winners in a 15 year span, and dumped them all for prospects rather than pay to keep them. Especially if you ever bemoaned the absence of a salary cap in the Premier League ...

Charlton 0-1 LCFC, post-match thread
KingsX replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not pretty... Hamza my MotM: brings grit, positional flexibility, ability to defend. Doesn’t hide from the ball. This squad is not overflowing with those qualities. Anyone wanking over rumors of selling him is in insane denial of our current level. -
Never saw a 70/30 ball he wouldn''t shy away from and somehow give away. Easily our best midfielder, even so. Not a happy state of affairs.
-
Too busy voting for himself in the BBC match ratings
-
They were unbeatable from a goal up in L1 last year. No reason to think our XI could break them down.
-
Thank God there's one optimist on here.
-
No worries, a repeat of that is highly unlikely. The Cleveland Browns rarely employ QBs good enough to be CFL backups.
-
My choices right now: - (a) watch this high-grade, entertaining match and have it spoiled by VAR misuse and rich-club favoritism, or - (b) switch over to Hull City v Oxford and watch plodders. I'm picking (c): turn off the footy and study for an upcoming professional exam.

Stoke battered Wednesday. We squeaked past them. More than a coincidence.
