I believe you are right. I was reading that as expected goal difference, but it's only the attacking side. We really have been converting despite worse and fewer chances than most other sides. We're Leicester City, We score when we shoot

Vastly outperforming our xG -- by almost half a goal per match. Probably more due to Mads than to brilliant finishing. Not at all reassuring, as this stat tends to regress to the mean over the long run.

The Greedy Six were lobbying for a reduction to 18 PL clubs even before they were using the threat of a super league to try to push it through. Any change that reduces the number of hard-to-sell (to casual fans and broadcasters) fixtures in favor of money-spinning name-club matches, they are pushing and politicking for 24/7. if I were Man U, though, I’d be careful what I wished for. Relegation for finishing 16th would be a knife to their throat.

VAR decision costs Wolves…. 1-100 odds we’ll be hearing from @The Bear Sorry mate.

And Fatawu makes the difference. Who'da thunk.

You hate to see our GOAT wasting a chance like that. He's no longer defying the years. Sad to see.

Brilliant header from Faes. How can you say these guys aren't playing.
-
Even Buonanotte is playing more half-arsed than we've seen him. Asking himself whether it's worth throwing a promising career at BHA onto this funeral pyre?
-
Because they're shite. We're just worse.

Was going to rush to catch a flight at full time. Now I can relax and head to the airport on time. Why watch another half of this. Put me down for a "1" for JJ in the match ratings thread please

Faes with the assist

But not the last nail. Let's keep suicide ball going at a relegation rival as long as possible.

Y'all solved Clase. He may have to develop a third pitch over the winter and spring training.

Teams left in the playoffs ranked by payroll size: #1, 2, 3, and 23. If you're not pulling for my Guards, you're either a New Yorker, or a sicko still celebrating Man City's court "victory" Unfortunately I'll be in Chicago for two of our three ALCS home games, so can''t go. But I've been to my share of playoff games v the Yanks, and the ballpark will be full of their fans. "Entitled" doesn't begin to describe them. Cheaper for them to fly/stay here and buy tickets off Seatgeek than to buy seats at Yankee stadium.

3 out of 5 on their forum think they'll get something from this. I guess? In a competition with no replays, why have "draw" as a poll option? It may give the bookies another bet to offer, but there will be a winner. The question is, who do you think will move on?

FFP will make that difficult. Remember, there are sanctions for exceeding £105M over 3 years. Everton lost almost £135M in 2021-22-23. Reported still operating at a loss over £1M per week. Friedkin will be paying for the sins of the previous regime for a while -- quite a while, if they go down. He could forgive their whole external debt (something like £600M) and they'd still be running in the red.

I've gone from loving the spectacle (first half) to being glad nobody won (second half).

Changing his mind. Cards by the dozen. Guaranteed formal protests tomorrow. In a boarding house somewhere in Merseyside, Mike Dean is watching this refereeing performance with glee.

Too easy for Welbeck

Flimsy and way out of his depth today. Not a shock for a kid just out of his teens in his first PL start. The trick will be getting him enough league minutes to develop.
-
The one positive is that the players are still playing for him. But I fear that will shift into reverse. He shows no sign of playing in a way that would maximize their abilities. Always a desperate, random-looking, try-not-to-lose setup, even at home against an inferior side. Add in that the best players are not the ones chosen for the XI … or indeed given more than cursory minutes … that’s the recipe for losing the dressing room.
