  1. Nepo Boy and PE Class Assistant will make the worst out of whatever division we are in. They have squandered the resources of a top 20 (revenue and squad value) in the world club, to make it a debt-ridden basket case in the second division. There is NO BOTTOM to this while they run the show. Wise up!
  2. Neutrals watching this would mistake us for a dangerous attacking side.
  3. DESTROY ALL DODGERS
  4. I trust you have been well and truly cured of the Jets after buying tickets and traveling to see that unbelievably limp excuse for an “effort”. You are hereby excused from supporting them. No one should have to go through that twice. (Not even Jets STHs, who are certifiably insane.) But anyway, welcome to the scam that is the NFL!
  5. Well done Jays! A joy to see the clincher happen in the Bronx. Let’s just hope Yankees management and their shameless media apologists keep Cashman and Boone in their jobs. They are the Great Equalizers keeping the club good, but never great. 16 years without a championship with their resources (and Aaron Judge) takes some doing. Now hoping the Brew Crew can keep it going in the NL.
  6. I am 100% sure they gave everything they had against the Tigers. They simply cannot afford any depth, and no matter how they strive and overachieve, it ends like this. The big payroll bogeymen that buy players, then buy depth, and then buy more guys to paper over their mistakes, constitute most of the clubs that make the League and World Series, and will going forward. I see that as a big problem.
  7. Surprised there has been no mention of the “football crossover jerseys” here. 31 abominations, but also this. https://icestork.com/product/2025-ravens-football-soccer-jersey/ This will be the ONLY thing I ever like about the Ravens.
  8. Guards come back from 8-5 down in the 10th to win 9-8 and clinch the AL Central. And from 15-1/2 games back - the largest gap ever made up in the divisional era. They were ELEVEN games out in SEPTEMBER. I stand by my prediction that this was/is a third place squad. They just don’t seem to know it! A team with 3x the payroll, and one-tenth the guts and team spirit, will likely eliminate them. Easy to love my club, but harder and harder to love MLB. But they still have life and I still have hope.
  9. I lose sleep over Trump, but this … maybe I do actually need to change my nationality.
  10. As one Detroit Tiger or another once said, “you can’t play baseball with both hands wrapped around your neck”. I’m in Washington state while various of my buds are texting about cheap tickets, expensive beer and a GREAT series at Progressive Field. (I’ll get mine back texting from the Buckeyes-Huskies game Saturday. By which time Detroit’s season should be disconnected from life support.)
  11. 1. This is a NEW YORK CITY crowd. 2. Strap in, folks. p.s. Equating NYC with “America” is a ridiculous stretch. The connection is geographical, not cultural.
  12. A month ago, many of these playoff "races" looked done and dusted. Not the case today! We are headed to the other side of the continent for college football and will miss the Guards' home stand against the Tigers. Bummer! I have a couple of friends with tickets to the games. But it will be decided between two clubs whose bullpens are on fumes. They will have to keep running out tired and unproven arms. Results could be random. If Clase and Ortiz hadn't done whatever gambling thing they did, Guards would be in great position to clinch, with much fresher arms for the postseason. Without them, well, it would still be quite an achievement to make the playoffs at all.
  13. If you are a connoisseur of messed-up half chances, that was your game. Our whole 0.97 xG must have come on Mavididi’s missed chance. But some things for Marti to build on. And some clarity that the players who are winning the second halves, should perhaps be in the XI for the first halves. Onward and upward
  14. Nine saves we're forced. And not a one did Rushworth even have to move
  15. Dasilva looks quite relieved to be coming off
  16. against two tired fullbacks, one on a yellow
  17. Good lord Mav. Sitter of all sitters.
  18. No worries mate. Deal is almost complete.
  19. Soumare under no pressure: pass directly back toward goal Soumare under pressure: give ball away immediately
  20. My buddy (semi-pro bettor / rock band frontman / Master of Wine candidate, as opposed to having a real job) again cashed his big bets early. Brewers over 87.5 and Guardians over 82.5 IIRC. My AL Central prediction didn't hold much water. But how about my Guards 12 of their last 13. With only two guys who can hit, and a pitching staff that was mostly in the minors last year. Steven Vogt is a god to keep winning with that. Guessing the Dodgers are talking to his agent by now ... why just buy the best players when the best coaches are cheaper ...
  21. 'CHAMPIONS FIND A WAY" Next up, the " MOST IMPORTANT DERBY IN FOOTBALL" ... 11th place at 17th, in a ground full of tourists
  22. the home crowd as a unified, single organism for all 90 minutes ... the commitment and will to win on the pitch ... wow
