I can't argue with those pointing out how we set up so negativity, I too would like to see us believe in ourselves a bit more and go more attacking. That said, I'm finding it really hard to dislike Cooper and I really want to see him do well. Some of his decisions are odd, granted, but I like that he has passion and what seems like a genuine care for the club other that it just being 'his job'. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't really hold the Palace decisions against him either. We didn't lose to his decisions, we lost due to the stupidity of an 'experienced defender' (the same one that many wanted to be a regular starter for us) hacking down a player in the box. I don't know, it's nothing more than my opinion, right or wrong, so don't waste your time coming for me, I just don't seem to hold the hatred for Cooper that many seem to. I do, however, feel that today really is make or break for him. Not that he'll get sacked regardless, but lose today, I think he'll lose the fans completely.

Your just scraping at reasons to dislike him now, that's more pathetic.

It's not like it's even one of those close ones where you need 8 angles and 32 lines. He's quite clearly offside without the need for VAR. The fact that VAR have somehow come to a decision using only 1 line and the 1 angle is baffling, almost comical. Like how stupid do they really think we are? -
Bit harsh blaming it on Cooper. Bar an absolutely ridiculous challenge from a player most of you wanted to be starting in our back 4, we have won and all been praising Cooper. Big 2 points dropped either way, the kind of point dropping that you regret at the end of the season.

It's fraud. Premier Leagues like an organised crime group though, a law to themselves. -
Not even close to being on side. It's a fraudulent decision.

That lines a bit iffy! Premier League already getting their own back at being beaten legally. The lines showed him about a 3 foot onside. Wonder how big Justin's feet are.

I mean to say Ayew is growing on me would be an understatement. Liking Skipp too. Actually couldn't name a player who hasn't been decent so far. Ndidi doing well too!

Totally agree. I feel like his new contract and wages might be some form of pressure for him to play. Either that or the nostalgia of him being good. There's been no evidence in months to suggest he should be starting over other options. -
Southampton have looked good but means nothing when you can't score penalties and defend like that. Half time coming at the right time but this could well still end up 5, 6 nil.

I'm not too mad at Ayew starting, on the basis that we'll bring Fatawu on but the risk is, we could well be out of the game before it's even time to bring him on. My biggest frustration would be Ndidi starting. He's absolute dross now and does nothing but give away fouls and hinder our own attacks. I want to like Cooper, but he's making it harder and harder to do so with such negative selections. -
Southampton are playing well but Archer was never going to score that Penalty. Looked a nervous wreck stood there waiting.

We've really got to go in to this with the aim of winning - Coming away with at least a point at the away fixtures. When you take away the likes of Man City, Liverpool & Arsenal, it's really the teams like Palace, Bournemouth & Fulham that you need to be getting points from to aide your survival. Just hoping to beat our fellow fodder like Southampton, Ipswich & Everton won't be enough to survive. Don't want to see Ndidi anywhere near the starting line up. -

That would be my choice too but realistically, you'd think Ricardo isn't going to start, as much as we know he should. I'd certainly like to see Okoli keep his place. Torn between El Khannous and the Brighton lad though. I think the Brighton lad will fit in more naturally due to being more experienced in the league. (Yes, i can't be bothered to Google how to spell 'The Brighton Lads' name) -
Massive run of games. Take away Arsenal, then they are all beatable if we turn up on the day. It would be nice to think the recent news of our win over the league Re the points deduction will be a massive weight lifted off our shoulders. We need to beat Everton - Absolutely no two ways about it. Palace away will be tough, but more than winnable.

It's probably not the thread to be discussing this but you can't be looking too much into league positions 3 games in to a season. It's not like they have won 3 out of 3. They have only won 1 game and that was against Southampton, a team that most other teams will be expected to beat this season. I don't think there's much difference between us and Forest, and come the end of the season, we'll both be fighting for survival.

Any chance you could name a Premier League level side that wanted to buy him?

I actually think Mav was very prone to games where he completely went missing last season, or he'd have good 10 minute spells. He was great when he came on yesterday. perhaps him being dropped, not having the certainty of starting every game, is what he needed. Seems to have injected some life in to him and he's definitely got to have earned himself a start now. We've got people to challenge his position if he's not having a good game now which should give him incentive.
-
Him signing a new contract was the worst thing to happen i think. Whether it's the memory of when he used to be good, or the pressure to play him because of the wages he's on, i really don't know. It's like watching Bambi try and play football. It's gone past the point of him not being very good to the point where hes now a hindrance.

I like Cooper. He's already instilled the passion & fight his Forest team had the year they survived and we went down with a whimper. I don't even mind the way we are playing, just a couple of selections to his starting 11 to iron out and i think he'll be decent.
-
I think he had a very good game. Get him starting every game, build up some Premier League experience & match fitness and we'll have a fantastic player on our hands.

3 games in, 1 point, overall assessment …

I am liking Cooper, although failure to iron out some of his poor decisions may change that over the course of the next few games. I like that every player is putting in 110%, challenging every 50/50 and play as though they genuinely care. It's something that i was very admirable of with his Forest team the season they survived and we went down without absolutely any fight. I think if he continues doing what he's doing, but with some tactical tweaks, he'll do alright. He's clearly very passionate and players feed off of that. Personally, i'd bring Ricardo & Mav in and then Buonanotte for Ndidi. The negative team selection cost us a point yesterday. I think if the changes were made even at half time, by which point it was obvious Villa were beatable, we'd have come away with something. I actually think Ayew had a very good game, and he certainly has a part to play, but I think Mav has earned himself a start.
