Especially since we were playing horrendous football and still losing, while conceding lots. It's not like we'd been solid defensively, we've conceded almost 2 goals per game. You're not likely to stay up while conceding 70-80 goals over a season.

Yeah. Football clubs don't make money, they almost always cost money. Only way to make money from them is asset stripping (like a private equity firm would do). Only people you get buy clubs knowing they'll lose money are people desperate for good PR - or those happy to lose hundreds of millions, sometimes annually.

Can't speak for living with immigrants or living abroad personally so this isn't exactly what you're asking for. However, I work in academia, so I work almost exclusively with people born abroad and who might have lived in many countries. Depending where you go, if you only know English, you might well be able to get by, but you'll be much better off if you learn the native language. My experience (in academia) will inevitably leave me with that impression though, people in this field really need to know English to publish their work to a broad audience. I have colleagues from Iran, but one did a postgraduate degree in Canada, and now lives and works in the UK (people in this field are from all over, really). The experience of culture in Canada was apparently very different to here. The work/life balance in the UK is significantly more tilted towards life, people are apparently more relaxed at work, and people do much more travelling. I do hear lots of complaints about UK bureaucracy, so those types of issues might be less prevalent in some other countries. I know a number of people from Med countries, and all of them seem to be really "up front". Some struggle with the subtleness we show in the UK when confronted with a problem. All anecdotal and second hand of course.
