I don’t know why people obsess with how players behave off the pitch. I agree with the notion that he has been much better in the past eighteen months or so, but on-the field I never thought that he went missing / lacked effort. I would understand it if he used to put in half-arsed performances, but you’d be rewriting history if you claimed that this was the case. Also not sure about the story about him ‘scrapping with Leicester fans in town.’ I have literally never heard that, I am not saying that it didn’t happen, but it’s always dangerous to form an opinion on the back of things that have little evidence.

I don’t disagree with that. However, I am not sure that I would commit a crime that is worthy of time if I saw him in real life

I hate this argument of 'if you look at the last 15 games, we are 7th.' You are being really selective over games, you cannot just disregard the first seven games. It's like saying 'if the season started last week, we would be top!!' - it just does not work like that, those first few matches were as bad as I can remember (since being promoted). I am happy to accept that Rodgers has got it right in the last two matches, but for me, the jury is still out.
-
I fully agree with this. I used to think it was a complete parody but the more I have seen the less I am convinced. Clearly, he is joking around but maybe not as much as people think.

I think that was the most that I have enjoyed a home game since Liverpool in December 2021. Not had a buzz like that for ages, yesterday was just phenomenal.
-
No, I heard it also. I think that they accidentally started playing Charlemagne (the half-time song) just before Maddison scored

I think that was one of the most brain dead things I’ve ever seen in high-level football. Especially Tielemans, I love the guy, but I was absolutely furious with him at the time: why would you attempt to play a defence-splitting pass from kick-off? It’s pointless analysing it now though. As you say, Spurs will probably finish above us practically ever season but I would not swap that for our PL and FA Cup. Sat on a train bored, I made the mistake to have a look at their pre-match thread. For most clubs (even Forest) you do actually get some sensible views in pre-match threads, but they are a different breed over there. You can see that they are still immensely jealous for 2016. Nearly seven years on and they are still insecure about it

I remember being at uni and watching it with my housemates. It was made harder because from a neutral perspective they clearly thought that it was amazing, but I was gutted. I just turned it off and walked out. I am glad that I wasn’t at the game that night. Like most people, I can control my emotions much more when I watch it on TV.
-
Fair point, Bournemouth did hurt. I think mainly because we were in complete control of that game and on the verge of finishing in the top four. I was gutted after that game, but still think Spurs was worse. It’s hard to understand why because the Bournemouth game had more importance, but due to Covid and not having gone for ages I felt a bit detached from it all.

I was in a state of genuine disbelief. I was frustrated when Spurs scored the equaliser, as we were literally seconds away from winning. However, my emotion just moved to genuine shock. I still remember it now, Tielemans trying to play a defence-splitting pass from kick off, Spurs regaining possession and suddenly, they were in on goal (and we all know what happened next). I literally just stood there in silence, I was completely stunned. I am pretty sure that I just shut my laptop down straightaway. It wasn’t even a particularly ‘big game’ but easily, that was right up there for me in terms of disappointment.

Rubbish journalism. I don’t understand it, they have so long to plan questions and they ask something really generic. I haven’t read the transcript, but I suspect that Rodgers just came out with ‘he is a great footballer, we respect him.’ So boring, at least ask questions which lead to interesting answers.

Lost their way after the hour mark but Leeds have still impressed me tonight. Might get laughed at for this but Jesse Marsch almost reminds me of Claude Puel, not in terms of playing style, but recruitment. It is always hard to tell who has sovereignty when it comes to signings, but what is clear is that they have signed some decent players. I just didn’t think that Marsch was the right man to get a tune out of them. That said, these players still have potential. If Leeds make a good appointment, then I suspect that they’ll be alright.

Morecambe FC Takeover - are the EFL asleep at the wheel?

To a certain extent I am playing devils advocate. But, is this particularly different to other ownerships? Very few have actually made money legitimately. -
Always assumed that it was their song before they became rich. Not entirely sure though.
-
Fair, never actually heard it. Still been nabbed from Man City, no?
-
Literally never posted on this thread so forgive me if somebody has already mention this. But, has anybody noticed our fanbase singing the ‘we never win at home and we never win anyway’ chant? I think that I first heard it at Liverpool, but could hear some of our fans singing it on the highlights from yesterday. It’s quite weird really, isn’t this just a shameless nab from Manchester City?
-
I know he is inconsistent, but I would far rather have a player who actually has the potential to play a 9/10 then somebody who is consistently poor. Takeaway Spartak Moscow, and you have to question as to when Daka has completely influenced a game. Scoring a goal in a 2-0 win, every blue moon just isn’t enough in this current predicament. Iheanacho may or may not be rubbish in the next match, but that’s fine. Keep starting him and he will win us enough games to keep us in the league, I am sure.
-
I just watched the highlights, he’s such a clever footballer. Did really well for the first goal, completely unselfish to play the ball to Maddison, and I thought that he took his goal really well. The thing is, he made that look really easy. I have seen a few posts claiming that Daka would have scored that but he just doesn’t make those runs. Kel has his flaws, but he will always give defenders something to think about. For that alone, he should start. I hope that this wakes Rodgers up. I do still think that his lack of game time will be costly, but hopefully this will make it clear that he is our best option. Make him our first choice striker until the end of the season, please.
-
I felt that he lost a bit of credibility during his stint at Everton. Maybe that was just my opinion and not a general consensus, managing Everton is clearly no easy feat. Genuinely thought that this Fulham team would struggle this season, but they have impressed me since the first day against Liverpool. They were incredibly well-drilled when we played them a few weeks back.

Marco Silva is really proving his doubters wrong, Fulham look so well organised

No lawyer, but I thought that the evidence through the voicemail and images looked pretty concrete. He seems very lucky to have all charges dropped against him, but unfortunately similar to Mendy, money seems to talk. I think that Neville is disgracing himself too. He really is the first to lecture people about politics in football and virtue-signal to his big audience, but he is actively engaging in posts endorsing Greenwood. I was astonished by some of his likes on Twitter. So weird. I lost quite a lot of respect for him during the World Cup. I get why pundits went - from a financial perspective it was probably incredibly tempting, but he literally spent years taking the moral high ground. Him saying that he was only going to ‘preach’ about the wrongdoings was an incredibly lame excuse. This bears little relevance though. It appears that Neville seems less willing to ‘campaign’ when it comes down to winning at Man United. I just think that with his audience and with the nature of how high-profile this case is, it sets a very damaging precedent to set for young footballers. Clearly, due to the growth in players getting into trouble with things similar to this, there is a fundamental issue which he is arguably enhancing.
-
I bet he isn’t. The Bundesliga has more constraints for wages than the PL, so I highly doubt that they’ll be matching the £70,000 that he has paid here. Whether it’s right or wrong bears no relevance. He already highlighted in the summer his reluctance to move to a nicer place and have regular game time - it is clear that money matters the most to him given he turned Fulham down. Hopefully his failure to get picked for Denmark in the World Cup will shift his priorities, I doubt it, however.
-
Sunderland to beat Fulham in the replay and for us to draw them away would be ideal. Admittedly it’s an unlikely scenario, but I can dream.
-
Yes, I was at that match, my only trip to Elland Road but they impressed me massively. They’re a complete anomaly though, the other 19 clubs are closer to us than Leeds atmosphere wise (minus the odd exception).
-
Not bothered about the age of the fans but you essentially attributed our poor atmosphere to one demographic. You can’t just change the priority system which excludes elderly people because they don’t ‘get behind the team’
