I can picture it now. Two old, bald men getting all upset because a 17 year old has made a flag demanding more from our club. Tragic, shame that they didn’t get launched down the aisle.
-
Our fans get so defensive over a man who they have never met. I am pretty sure that the same allegedly happened at Notts Forest and Brentford. Good on the people who make banners and use their voice. As for the people who still back Rodgers, you are a stain on the club and I genuinely hope that you never come again. For anybody that supports him, I just switch off, invalidate their option and assume that they are a loser. You’d have to be a complete idiot to think that this is acceptable.

Will probably take a bashing for this, but I don’t really care. However, I genuinely hope that at the next game that he is in attendance at, people turn toxic towards him. No handshakes, pictures or telling him how great he is. Tell about how he is ruining his Dad’s legacy and his negligence and incompetence is taking the club down. So fed up of the posts from the club: “Great to see Top today.” I don’t give a toss, he is as accountable as Rodgers for our demise. If he sold the club tomorrow then I would be happy and please don’t say I’m being reactionary, I said this months back. I also hope that it would drag some of our loser fans away who seem to treat King Power as some bizarre cult. Also, don’t give it the “be careful what you wish for” as the ownership since Vichai passed away has been tragic.

Much better in the second half, showed the fight that we are going to need in the upcoming weeks. Moved the ball faster and seemed to have an identity - we should have tested the keeper more though. This isn’t for the first time this season, but I was a bit confused by the changes that Rodgers made. I mean, we were clearly on top, so why would you bring Soumare and Praet on? He doesn’t seem to learn that it kills our tempo. It stops the rot though and I would have taken a point before. Not a particularly great game but it keeps us ticking over. It really is a huge game against Crystal Palace after the international break now.

Nampalys Mendy can be added to the extensive list of players that Rodgers has treated with zero respect.

Rodgers says: ‘he’s been a long-time number two here, and a very loyal number two.’ I know that this is a pretty generic comment for a manager, but I have seen other people praise him for being a ‘loyal’ backup. What does this even mean? I mean if you look at the trajectory of his career, he has clearly been happy to be a reserve (which shows no ambition at all btw). Ward has been paid about £50,000 a week to sit in the jacuzzi at Seagrave, watch football, and play the odd League Cup game against some no-hopers. He deserves no praise whatsoever. The bloke is incompetent and he knows it.

Of course it’s hypothetical but Vichai was owner for six years. This means that we have a high level of evidence to judge it on. His ruthlessness was demonstrated through Ranieri, Pearson and Puel - Rodgers has the club in a worst state than any of those three.

Gary Lineker steps down from MOTD
Matt_Lcfc replied to East Langton Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
People who show disregard towards asylum seekers genuinely astonish me. This abject failure to give recognition to the fact that they are normal people is just complete ignorance. Even if you lived an average life in the UK, you do not realize how lucky you have it, these countries are absolutely riddled with war and poverty. You have done nothing of merit to deserve this life. I have had my challenges with Lineker in the past, but I think he is right to take stand here. There are two key issues with some of the posts on this thread. Firstly, Lineker literally saved this club from administration, played for the club and has continued to be an ambassador - so I cannot understand the agenda. Secondly, there are some posts on here with a real discriminatory undertone. I am not going to out people, however, please look at the empirical evidence about this specific topic and try to be more open-minded about it.- 922 replies

I love Maddison and really think that he is a credit to the club, but this is a really poor take. We did not have a shot on target against a side who had not won at home since August, it was an extremely worrying performance - you are deluded if you think otherwise. The most alarming part of this is that I would consider Maddison to be one of our 'leaders' (if such a thing exists at Leicester) so you would really expect him to have higher standards.....
-
Rubbish. Just emphasises how little understanding our defence have - there is no organisation between them whatsoever. I don’t know what Souttar is doing. He has two options. Either you close Adams down or push up to the halfway line and he does neither. He has to do better. Do not even get me started on the keeper. It really is classic Danny Ward, doesn’t make an obvious error but you look at the goal and think that he should do much better. The worst starting goalkeeper in the whole league.

I cannot help you with Northumberland (although I know it's a lovely place). However, I live up in Newcastle so if you have any questions about it as a city or the region, then feel free to message me.

This thread hahahaha. I am just trailing through it so I know to completely invalidate the views of certain posters on here.

Nah, you’re right. Saka was excellent in both the European Championship and the World Cup, I also think that he’s a brilliant person. Now, I wouldn’t sit there and clap him all game, but certainly not boo him. Let’s not be small time.

I do understand the argument in relation to being careful for what you wish for in football. However, I do not think that these are fair comparisons. Southampton were rooted to the bottom of the table and Nathan Jones was a genuine shocking appointment, it was just insanity to give him the job. Leeds were going down with Bielsa, Marsch kept them up, so from a short-term point of view, he turned out OK. Wolves have seen a massive upturn in form since appointing Lopetegui, I do not think that they will go down whatsoever. Everton will stay up under Dyche, I am convinced. Of course, you can debate the long-term impact, but for where they are right now, it is a sensible appointment. So, conclusively, most sides that you listed are better off. As I said at the start, I do not really think that they are fair comparisons anyway. We are in a better place than all of the above clubs. What this means is that we can attract a better manager, if we made a genuine sensible appointment, then yes, we would be in a better position. It would be a gamble, but one that I would be happy to see the club take as I do not think that in the long-term, there is any chance of Rodgers putting us back on an upwards trajectory.

It’s just the game that Rodgers plays. Begrudgingly, you have to admit that he is good with the media. From solely looking at it via an individualistic angle, it’s quite clever what he does. It’s as simple as this: 1) Make friends with the media. 2) Get protection when things go badly. 3) Be viewed as the victim by the footballing world. He knows exactly what he is doing (in that regard). It’s why when you often talk to supporters of other clubs, many argue that Rodgers is a really good manager and that we could do a lot worse.
-
Yes, I know that. However, ultimately, Rodgers doesn’t pick his extortionate salary up to be a nice bloke. Protecting somebody on that basis is a lame argument. If you had somebody severely underperforming at work, would you protect him because he is a nice bloke? Probably not. I think we are on the same page though. I am in complete agreement that the article was practically pointless. It just provided a mere overview of what we have already witnessed and combined it with some positive PR for Rodgers.
-
He is very much like his Dad, I think. The problem with Kasper is that he is just so intense and falls out with people, he downed tools under both Ranieri and Puel. I am not basing this on any concrete evidence, but I reckon that the attitude towards him was one of acceptance based on the fact that he was a good keeper. I reckon that he continued to maintain good relations with the older players like Vardy and Evans. However, I would imagine that his authority was questioned when his form dropped last year.
-
Stringer just labelled it as a ‘balanced article’ on Twitter. I agree with some of his arguments, but this is clearly not neutral. The brown-nosing is so evident. I guess from a journalist point of view, he wants to maintain good relations so he can extract good information, but this is classic Rodgers propaganda. A couple of good results (which he bases his argument around) and the wool is pulled back over the eyes of the footballing world. Football fans are fickle, but not this fickle, the jury is still out.

I think this lad will be fine, but no world beater. I just cannot get over how much he feels like Maguire (he even looks a bit like him). Three games in and I think it has been very mixed, but you have to give recognition to the fact that our back five is disjointed. I still think that by May, we will think that he was a decent marquee signing: I do not believe that he will set the world alight and I think that he will struggle against the top players, but for where we need to be, he will be enough. We do need a new CB in the summer. You would imagine that Cags and probably Amartey will be off. I really want him to succeed here, but I have lost a bit of faith in Faes. He has the attributes to be a useful player for us and has put in some really strong performances in, but he is just so erratic. I hope that this will come with time as he really needs to become more composed and stop diving in.

That potential move was sufficient evidence that money was not the issue. We have neglected this issue and it is having massive consequences.

Twenty three games in and it is safe to say that this bloke is shocking. I never thought that he would be the predecessor for Schmeichel, but I believed that he would be able to hold his own for a season. I look at him and think he is literally good at nothing, Kasper had his flaws well-documented and he was far from perfect, but he was an immense shot stopper, good at 1v1s and decent at saving penalties. Ward does not tick any boxes when you look at the attributes of a decent goalkeeper. In a weird way it has almost changed my perception on the importance of having a good goalkeeper. I do not disagree with this notion that we would be better off if we still had Kasper, in fact, I genuinely think that we would probably be about six or seven points better off - in other words, we would be mid-table instead of being in a relegation battle. It is criminal that we did not sign a goalkeeper. I do not understand the logic - look at Ward: practically a backup keeper for his whole career, why did the club have belief that we could just shoehorn him in? Mental. I get why we signed who we did last month, but a keeper should have been right up there as a priority. Look at Forest signing Navas, they now have two keepers (who we could have acquired) that are both much better than Ward. It is really poor from a recruitment / talent identification point of view.

A few google searches tells you everything you need to know. He really seems like a deeply unpleasant man….. -

Oh, I fully share your frustration, I hope that came across in my post. Agree with your second point. It’s easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment, but when you think rationally, it’s minuscule it’s the grand scheme of things. I like to keep football as the most important of the least important things. -

I am just happy that he has been sentenced as it means that I don’t have to read his posts anymore. I sincerely hope that they don’t give you access to FT in prison -

I don’t disagree with this but I would *imagine* that it’s all about publicity. Of course you can debate whether it’s right or wrong, however, unfortunately, a local burglary will never receive the same press as football disorder. I know that this isn’t particularly fair, but it’s a fact. In this case, the situation was clear. Essentially, you had a handful of the low-life in society running a mockery in Nottingham, terrorising families and generally doing completely daft things. This obviously led to high media engagement, so the temptation amongst the police is to show these people up through ‘tough’ sentences.
