  1. I also don’t understand how people afford this anymore. Expensive ticket and then £7.30 cheapest pint. I’m going to day 1 of edgbaston and day 3 of old Trafford too and seriously considering driving.
  2. Ah apologies, agreed, originally misread.
  3. We can model temperature going back 100s of years based on tree rings. They grow wider in wetter/warm years and thinner in cold/dry years
  4. Went to headingley today. Don’t understand why they bowled after winning the toss, but as always a fun day out
  5. Wtf, this thread is now happy clappers pumping up a penny stock
  6. Yeh American humidity is something else. Remember summer months it felt like you were swimming through the air when I worked in DC and Memphis
  7. My miserable colleague is in some rural dump in Italy. Tormina or something. Overheard one of her club saying she texted saying it’s drizzly and cold LOL. Serves her right for being miserable AND voluntarily going to Italy, whilst the rest of the team will be on the beach in 28 degrees in 30 secs time. These days make you forget what leaving the office in the dark is like
  8. Yeh it’s to promote Michelob, a horrible yank ‘beer’ Reminds me of when the champions league had ‘star of the match’ to promote Heineken and all the happy clappers got in a panic because they had read a Twitter post saying uefa had mandated that language as there was no such thing as a ‘man’ anymore
  9. Live by a coastline. Constant and annoying breeze
  10. Yep October - March is horrendous. You forget how bad those months are now it’s light until 10pm. Think our weather has a lot to do with our negative psyche. Feels like once brits reach early 30s they become fat, depressed, stuck to a job and a complainer. Compared to warmer nations where most events are a reason for a party
  11. The market outside is good though. Get anything you want for about 5 euros.
  12. Another two crazy fan bases. Hate to sound like a happy clapper but this ref cam is v annoying me.
  13. Yeh, trying to see the South American teams in the sunshine states at the World Cup next year is a big aim.
  14. Unfortunately the working week is 5 days so even if you compressed all your hours into 4 days or took a 20% pay cut, there will still going to be things to do/sign/review/send/log on/be available for on the 5th day.
  15. Yeh course, markets are a zero sum game. There’s winners and losers from every global event. But the S&P 500 is not up today because of more war, that’s fake news
  16. The complete opposite in reality, markets are back to risk on mode as chatter is Iran is willing to go back to negotiating with the US and de-escalation in the war.
  17. Yeh Boca in the Miami sunshine today, that will be a very fun away day, imagine pre-match drinking at Nikki beach club. Could even compare to when we went to Randers in February.
  18. Load of La chouffe in france for the day. Bland scenery and food but excellent Belgian beer
  19. Glasgow is surprisingly fantastic, a city where I could see it's possible to live. Big business, high skilled jobs, cultural scene, easy to navigate city centre, lots of diverse young people. For pubs, I went to: All 5 wetherspoons in city centre The pot still The horse shoe Shilling Brewing Kelvingrove art gallery Food scene not that great, ate at the ivy and china town. There will be better options
  20. We defo all have anecdotes of the lack of competence of recruiters and estate agents, but it's the lack value they add which is grating. Recruiters almost always mismatch candidates because they don't understand the technicalities of the job, when they place someone they charge £10k's. Estate agents create loads of buzz around properties with higher margins with viewings from non-serious people, and neglect other properties on their books. Literally competing with themselves. Both sets of people genuinely believe they 'earn' their money through their skills. There is no skill or acumen, proven by the fact any old sod could be an estate agent or recruiter. Obvs now totally redundant with tech advances. 'Here are my skills, match me with an open job.' And 'Here is what I desire in a property, match me with open properties.' is the future.
  21. Estate agents full stop. And recruiters. Non-value add people.
  22. I did write a reply but I see it hasn't been posted here! I mentioned 'politicians' so prob hit the default delete rules.
  23. When David Attenborough dies, he will receive universal admiration from all walks of life, yet his message has been largely ignored for decades. I cannot think of another person who is so universally loved for so long, yet the public at large couldn't care give a toss about what they are saying.
  24. Football clubs warned fixation on growth risks player burnout Even the advisors are warning against growth of the game, every investor understands you can't oversweat your assets even if those assets 'earn millions though mate I'll pay football 24/7 if I earned that money ticket office shambles.' The current model is about short term mark-to-market gains, not growth of the game.
  25. You said, I quote - I've not come across one normal person... Putting that on social media is obvs gonna lead to character assassinations.
