Kane still does not have a trophy. I sensed before the game that could be an omen.
-
Agree. The format and usability of this forum is really much better than many other clubs’.
-
Definitely better than Faes.

I would have loved for him to stay with us for one more season and to help us with keeping the Leicester City spirit alive as more of our long term club players are leaving, Albrighton in particular. We need guys who are here because they love the club, not just to earn a wage. All the best KDH.
-
Yep, extend for double the wages which more than makes up the extra year or two in the first place. We have the most bargaining power when they are young and at the beginning. Just ask Tielemans. Also, if as a football club we don’t have good enough recruitment people to work out whether he is supposed to be shit or not, then they may as well appoint one of us fans to head their recruitment.
-
Only 4 years for a talent who is only 18? Rudkin at it again. Just like Tielemans, 4 years is perfect to give away him for free in a few years’ time. With relatively low wages it is often worth the small risk to sign them for 5 or even 6 years.

If we really want to have a sustainable football league, instead of having rules to try to govern how clubs like to run their businesses (or whether owners can lose however much money they like), they should really consider American style salary cap arrangements. It is really the runaway transfer fees and salaries that are not just keeping away smaller clubs from competing but also ruining the finances for everyone as the clubs go down a downward spiral of trying to outbid each other for top players.

I have a suspicion that Maresca will steer clear from current Leicester players given the circumstances of his departure. There may also have been some gentlemen’s agreement not to buy from us.
-
To be honest, I sense he will do well at Chelsea with technically better players.
-
If he does get the sack at Chelsea he would be due a huge sum that he would never have to put out cones or hand out water bottles for him.
-
Ok … I admit I don’t watch them regularly. So you are saying their previous good form is more down to Potter?
-
De Zebri. He is Italian and seems to play the style of football Maresca plays (so hopefully all the coaching last season doesn’t go completely to waste), except that De Zebri is more attacking minded. I just feel it would be a pity if someone new comes in and undo the good work that was done last season. We just needed to be more attacking and develop more alternative plans, but not a completely different plan.
-
Hope he stays.

This gives the wrong impression of Pep. Firstly, Maresca only worked under Pep for one year. Not a long time understudy. Secondly, he was not “the” number two. Thirdly, Pep has more than one way. His tactics have not only evolved over time they change depending on the players he has. He said it as much. He adjusts based on who he has and also the general trend of other teams. Pep is simply at God-like level. To compare Maresca to Pep is actually quite disrespectful to Pep. Having said that, Maresca has a lot of potential. He is a young coach who has only one decent managerial experience, in the second tier, with us. He will learn and develop his style more. The key to how far he can go depends on his mentality. We will see. Personally, given the above, for him, he is much better off staying with us instead of going to Chelsea. He has not earned enough credit to entice another owner to give him a go except for Chelsea, but he won’t last for more than half a year with them, so his credit will only come from this one year with us. Not enough to show for.
-
Yeah, that is twisted and reinventing of history.
-
Yes well documented but if you imply that we didn’t sign him because he was not rated by Rodgers or the fans, that is not quite true. It is well documented that fans wanted him. The club for whatever reason decided to not splash the cash on him for FFP reasons (12m was a bargain even based on the circumstances at the time). They then splashed out more cash on other players later anyway. Simply poor decision. Rudkin maybe.
-
That is not quite true. Many saw him as a good player with the expected upturn. Even Rodgers rated him. He could play on both the left and right. This was well discussed at the time by many. But in the end, it was clearly the club’s FFP situation that prevented the club from making such a great investment. 13 goals+assists. 12m. Even his immediate resale value was greater than 12m at the time.
-
We had an option to buy for around 12m if I recall. We all expected the club to activate it, but the club had no money even though it was clear it was a great investment and his resale value would have been much more. Poor management by the club. It was not due to Rodgers. I dare say if we had him even Rodgers could not have relegated us with our squad + Lookman. PS. Yes, plenty was said about it in his other threads.

Premier league clubs to vote on scrapping VAR
Tom12345 replied to David Hankey's topic in Leicester City Forum
I am not sure it makes better decisions overall. I think it can stay however but it should be used in a more limited way. - The hairline offsite calls have ruled out so many beautiful goals that in the past they would not be ruled out. What happened to the benefit of the doubt being given to the attacking player. If it is not obvious to the naked eye (and how can the players judge otherwise), then there should be no intervention. Also the manner in which the VAR draws the lines is also subjective, so the use of VAR does not remove subjectivity. - What really gets to me are those slow motion 3 second clips that the VAR shows to the Ref which are so biased towards giving a foul this should be scrapped altogether. If the on field Ref’s guy feeling is that it is not a foul, then that should be it. - I am happy for VAR to judge on whether the ball cross the line or if the ball hits the hand in the penalty box as these things can be better judged with VAR. -
Premier league clubs to vote on scrapping VAR

VAR itself is not all bad but its implementation has been extremely poor. Can we not keep VAR but restrict it to very limited cases: - whether the ball crosses the line (this should be non controversial) - whether there was a handball in the box (but the implementation needs to be backed up by common sense and none of this slow mo crap). Given the way it has been done, I love VAR to not touch offsides. Ideally, it still can but only when it is plain and obvious not like what they are doing now with their hairline measurements. Everyone has forgotten that the attacker is meant to be given the benefit of the doubt and the rule is really there to prohibit players hanging about at the opposition goal. And definitely none of this slow mo review for whether there is penalty. Leave that to the Ref real time. -
I think one thing that is under-appreciated by fans about Albrighton is that his crosses (and timing of those) are top class. He may not stand out (other than work rate) in other areas, this is something we cannot deny. In order to succeed at the top level back in the EPL, we need particular qualities that stand out. Not average players like Hamza or Ndidi (now in his attacking mid role) that plays average football. This is why we don’t know how to break teams down. I rather we have Albrighton than Hamza for example, or Faes who yes may dribble and pass slightly better than your average CB but whose creativity is below an average. We cannot rely on average players to create. We need those first time accurate long balls from Albrighton. We need those smart intelligent runs from Vardy (who is top class). We need Winks who play better than most in his deep CM role. We need Ricardo who is a top class RB in his day who can excel in that inverted RB role. We need new CBs who can defend first and foremost in the PL which we do not have at the moment. I am comfortable with Fatawu developing into a special winger (not sure yet re our no. 10 but I can give him time). What I want to say is I rather have someone with something special than an average player with average qualities over all areas. This is why I feel we are losing with Albrighton leaving and not appreciated. Without him, all our crosses (waiting for the defence to set up) into the box do not play to Vardy’s style.

No. He does not have that built yet.

Good work. -
This does not include assists to the assist, such as his pass while holding his groin.
