  1. I've just got myself a 2nd one in the sale so I can wear one into the ground and keep one new - in case I have to wait years for it to come round again. I wore my original sash kit with "Barmy Army" and "04" on the back recently, but the numbers are showing their age and starting to fall apart so I don't think it will take another wash.
  2. Cardiff away was 29th Dec... Only an 8 point gap to Ipswich. Not as easy as it looks!
  3. Now we are 1 win from the title, will the trophy be in Preston on Monday night ready for a presentation if we win? Or would it wait until the final game. I'm sure I remember Premier League rules about not lifting the trophy at away games? (Have tickets for next Saturday, and haven't seen us lift a trophy in person since the League Cup in 2000...)
  4. Genuine question - what date did we have a 17 point lead? In my head, I don't remember being that far clear, so I've been looking through historic tables to find that mythical figure that keeps being quoted. I've found on 15th Feb, we were 12 points clear of Leeds. (14 clear of Ipswich with a game in hand), but I can't find more than that! If we were 17 points clear, how many games more had we played? It feels like 2015/16 again & the fact that bookmakers weren't really offering odds as generous as 5000/1 - but that may have been offered by one at one point in time, and its now gospel that they were the odds! I'm just intrigued to actually see that table, as it keeps on being trotted out!
  5. I'm not so sure. I think there has been a sea change over the last 10 years or so. Players like Andrew Luck (and Chris Borland who retired after 1 season with the 49ers) show players are more aware of the long term damage the game can cause and willing to act on it. I'm sure a lot of players will succumb to peer pressure, but I think there will be a few who wear them. Technology is improving all the time - I'm sure existing manufacturers will say their new helmets are as safe, but the theory that a softer outer shell absorbs more impact than a hard shell makes sense to me, to the players and the NFL. Will be interesting to watch how this develops.
  6. Massive news in the NFL today: https://uni-watch.com/2024/04/26/nfl-bombshell-players-can-now-wear-guardian-caps-in-games/ Looks like we might be seeing guardian caps on the field this year. I love the aesthetics of the NFL, and the helmet is the most important part of that, so it would be a radical departure. But its such a brutal sport, anything to make it safer has to be applauded as a step forward.
  7. Not really fair to rank... Play-Offs are always the best way to go up emotionally, but less impressive than doing it automatically. Being promoted after years away always feels much bigger than just one year away, but club probably much less well positioned to cope with going up. You can't beat the late winners v Derby and Palace, but this is more of a case of being back where we belong and having shed some silly wages, but retaining a broadly Premier League squad, we should be in a much better position than after those promotions so this is one to enjoy.
  8. Working in the East of England with Ipswich and Norwich fans, the banter this season has been brilliant... More of the same next year please!
  9. Can everyone please make sure you take all your things with you? This place is closing for renovation for a couple of months.
  10. Can't knock something provided for free! I've joined & have sent an email. I love what Union FS do, but they can't and shouldn't try to represent the whole fanbase, but any anything to try and help give a voice to the fans is to be welcomed - particularly given the cosy relationship the Foxes Trust have with the club (given the tone of the statements they put out and having read the last minutes sent out - which stunk of them being used by the club so the club can tick a box to say they have engaged with fans...)
  11. That's funny, because whoever has mocked this up has no idea how to use an apostrophe... They spent all that time finding the logos, but couldn't even spell or punctuate the punchline correctly.
  12. Disagree with this - cricket has it right with lbw decisions: if it is within a certain zone, it reverts to umpires call. The review is there to rule out bad calls, not to make the decisions. I don't see how VAR is accurate enough to make an offside decision in mm. Someone kicking a ball can take a few fractions of a second: when they make contact, when it leaves their foot - and the attacker/defender will move in that time. And if the lines aren't perfectly straight, VAR might be wrong anyway... Cricket still struggles with some areas: was it a catch or not (did it hit the ground?) which are black and white rather than a judgement - so no different from penalties / handballs / fouls. But I think the offside rule specifically should have a zone and be not be overturned on the basis of mm.
  13. I'm pretty sure I went to a Leicester Tigers v's Leicester City evening where they played 1 half football & 1 half rugby (likely not the first teams for either). Was at Welford Rd - late 80s. I've sure they played football against each other & then had mixed teams for the rugby to make the scrums fairer. My main memory of the night was finding that a bird had shat on my coat, which took my eye off the game for a while, but I don't think I dreamt it entirely... anyone else remember this?
  14. The first rule of Football Safehouse is "You do not talk about Football in Safehouse" I've just commented in the "Go on, admit you were wrong" thread daring to have an opinion contrary to the mob, so I think I'm going to log out for a couple of days and maybe just hang out in here for a while when I come back...
  15. I joined Foxestalk in May '18 so we are now on our third manager since I've been here: Claude Puel - Awful manager. Boring, sideways. Not good enough for us. Didn't sack him quick enough. Brendan Rodgers - Poison Dwarf. Fraud. Clueless. Bottlejob. Not good enough for us. Didn't sack him quick enough. Enzo Maresca - Boring. I told you he was a shit appointment. Not good enough for us. Needs to go regardless of whether we go up. There seems to regularly be a race to the bottom to see who can slag off the manager first and threads like this where everyone piles in to make sure it is recorded that they said the manager was c**p before things really go wrong and they are sacked. I liked the appointment of Enzo. I like what he has tried to do. I like the fact that after 41 games, we are at well over 2 points a game, top of the league and need 4 wins from 5 to be back in the Premier League. I like that if we do go up with him, we will (hopefully) get some more players to fit the system and will have a go in the Premier League playing a modern brand of football with an identity. Yes, I am disappointed we haven't seemed to kick on from where we were early in the season, and very disappointed with the results of the Bristol City and Millwall games - but these games happen in football & we should have won both on the balance of chances. He is still a rookie manager in a long and gruelling division, and will be learning a lot from this year, and dare I say it, needs support from the supporters. So no, these recent results aren't enough to change my mind that he was a good appointment. Whether he is the messiah or not? For me, its still far too early to judge his career, but I'm obviously in the minority in that!
  16. Just blowing my own trumpet... Have been on a mission to get my Waffle stars to over 3 per game - every time I was getting close, there would be a day with 0 or 1 stars - despite not making silly mistakes - but finally got there today!!! Either time to stop or start aiming for 4 stars
  17. My lad is the goalkeeper for his U12 team, and his coach is very keen on playing out from the back. As tough as this is to watch at Championship level, its 100 times worse at that level!!! Given the weakest players on his team are the full backs and the quality of pitches is generally awful, I've seen a fair number of cock-ups this year (and a lot of strikers encroaching in the penalty box), but glad to sat he's not done anything remotely as bad as what Hermanson did on Saturday! I think it was a combination of the striker having an extra yard (illegally) and Mads just not being aware of the situation - but without doing it to death, as others have said, he's a great keeper, he got a good reception coming off at half time & he will learn from it. But one of the videos the coach shared with the boys on why he wants them to play that way was: I know there are various tactics threads with similar videos, but a lot of these examples show Faes doing nothing different to what other teams are doing. (Although I do think he should have looked up at where the Birmingham players were before taking the goal kick, and should have delayed if he saw the striker coming into the area). This isn't quite the empirical evidence asked for, but it does show a few examples of why teams are doing this and well with a watch before complaining about the manager or style of play. (And yes, the last match he played, they lost 2-1 with the winner being the opposing goalkeeper hoofing the ball forward - ball took one bounce & their striker lobbed the ball into the net - which was as good an advert for route one football as you could see...)
  18. Its poor form to quote your own post, but thinking of the mood after Bristol City, and taking that as the first of these last 3 games... Us and Ipswich - 6 points. Leeds - 4 points. Southampton - 2 points. Just show the safehouse was a good place to hang out after that game, and it has just made today just the sweeter...
  19. Spot on... absolutely ridiculous that PSR is there to stop clubs spending too much money and going bust (or underperforming compared to budgeted income like we did) - so if they do spend too much, taking more money off them will just double down on the problem and make it worse - not stop what PSR was set out to achieve. The luxury tax in Baseball is there to help competitive balance. As MLB is a cartel, they can enforce a salary cap to keep a lid on salaries, and also to put competitive balance in among the teams. However, everyone is happy if teams want to spend over this and put more money in the game - the luxury tax will deter owners from inflating salaries too much & effectively compensate other owners for their teams being less competitive in comparison. A bit different to the intent here.
  20. You want to talk about a tank? Just look at the Shark Tank this year. Every time they have a bright spot, they trade it away and now, no more than 6 points from the remaining 8 games will guarantee most balls in the draft lottery. (And probably will mean Chicago get the first pick anyway). I've not even been able to watch highlights this year - its difficult to know if you want your team to win or lose.
  21. The sad part is that we are already there. These latest retro kits aren't iconic or classic. (I love the white sash kit & will stock up on a couple to play football in, but they only played in it twice FFS)
  22. For me, the big thing is watching my son play football. In U12s now so has been playing for 6 years or so. You can't get too invested, as some players aren't as good as others, you get some very bad mistakes, and the refereeing can be poor. But some people (kids and parents) take it very seriously - living every kick, complaining about tactics, yelling at referees etc and get angry and upset after. I also play once a week - 6 aside kickabout with mixed abilities, and some weeks you feel let down by others, some weeks it just doesn't go your way, and some weeks you can be on a real high afterwards! But I leave it all out there for that hour, and then move on with life. So all that has bled into my following of Leicester. And I still get very pissed off when we lose, but at the end of the day, its just another football match in the week. And after following Leicester for coming up for 40 years, there will always be another match next week anyway. Although working with Ipswich and Norwich fans, I might not be too haooy going into work on Tuesday if we've lost to Norwich and are behind Ipswich in the league. That might spark some of the old anger!!!
  23. Hello everyone. I clicked on the "sack him" thread by accident. Feel like I need to spend some time in here. Maybe I'm getting too old for this business, but I've seen those sort of matches hundreds of times, and s**t happens sometimes. But we're involved in a cracking title and promotion race, and these ups and downs are why I fell in love with this club in the first place. So many people have been constantly complaining all year, and are absolutely loving a poor run of form and a chance to take their anger out on a target. But always nice to pop in the safehouse and lock the doors!
  24. Just feels weird that when I set my avatar picture up, we hadn't worn a sash kit for over 10 years, and they were long forgotten relics... now I click on the shop and get this:
  25. We only wore it twice and didn't win in it.. Once was Palace away: Lost 2-0. But my I've never found out what the other game was. Doesn't stop it being an all time classic though!
