  1. All the more reason to hound the ownership for their inaction in clearing out the rot in our squad. I still have PTSD from a back line including Ward, Faes and Amartey embarrassing us for a full season, and 2/3 of them are now still getting regular minutes two years later.
  2. This. Mads saves all three of those. As he has been doing all season. From what little I saw of Iversen when he finally played in 22-23, he saves at least 2 of them. Ward has come in and let 6 goals in in 135 minutes of football, 4 of which were at least partially - if not entirely - down to him having the spatial awareness of a last-minute Christmas shopper and the wrist strength of a cheesestring. The team performance was rancid, but any competent goalkeeper at least makes it difficult in those situations. Ward actively makes it easier, and that feeds through to the entire team, and the crowd mood. There is zero confidence in his ability from anyone either in front of him or around him, which has a negative effect on the entire outcome. I dislike xG as a stat but f*** me, 0.41 resulting in 3 goals really is damning. In normal circumstances Wolves would have taken more than two full games to find the back of the net a single time with the quality of chances they had. RVN can defend him publicly all he likes - if he chooses to play him again, he will have the crowd turning on him even faster than Cooper did. That is no exaggeration, because I don't think I've ever known a more unanimous opinion amongst the matchgoing fanbase than the agreement that he should be nowhere near the pitch for us ever again. It's very rare for the crowd to openly turn on a player. The last time I can remember was Ben Marshall under Pearson, when he pretty much told us to FOAD while strolling lazily over to take a corner. Pearson dropped him and he barely saw the grass for us ever again.
  3. MODS
  4. he actually makes me angry
  5. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals
  6. Nah you can't fault his acheivements, expensive squad or not. If anything I'm actually more impressed that his philosophy has taken this long to start biting him on the arse, as unless levels are 100% at all times in a possession game it all falls apart incredibly easily - as we learned the hard way under Rodgers. The way he's led the charge towards this wet fart possession football that's stunk up so many other clubs since is more of a problem. Football as a spectacle has absolutely suffered for teams trying to emulate "Pepball" with bang average squads, and the days of Tiki-Taka dominating leagues is long gone anyway - we were part of that shift. Watching Atletico Madrid carve through Barcelona for their winner yesterday with slick counter attacking footy was a beautiful thing to see, but also bittersweet knowing we used to play like that before the slow, steady march to turdgid shite from Claudio's second season right through to Enzoball. Though it will never not be funny that Man City's form dropping into the abyss happened the moment he had the temerity to praise Russel Martin.
  7. We really have been handed the impetus with this weekend's results. Massive massive game, WINNIT.
  8. I'm happy for him, but at the same time incredibly bitter that his talents were so blatantly wasted here. We got one true glimpse of the player he really is against Liverpool, the rest of his tenure has me wanting Rodgers arrested for crimes against football. I met a Charlton fan on the train across Canada in 2021, who absolutely waxed lyrical about him and asked that we quote-unquote 'look after him - he's world class, just needs a chance'. I'd like to apologise to him. We didn't. I hope he can get Atalanta games out in Vancouver though.
  9. I did this today, purely because I wanted to preserve Vardy's goalscoring record. You are all welcome. Sorry I left it eight games to do it.
  10. Dock Danny Ward's wages and use them to refund the travelling fans.
  11. 2-0. Nice one.
  12. Just woke up from a nap. Ward is coming on. I'm going back to bed.
  13. There was something quite poetic about us meeting one another that year in the UCL - we had both properly upset the status quo playing similar styles of football and reaped the rewards. I have a lot of respect for what Simeone has achieved. They say that football is cyclical, I do lament that our win wasn't a sliding doors moment that convinced teams to be more direct as a wider trend. Unless you have the budget of a Man City, possession football is so simple to play against - just apply constant pressure to force mistakes and leave a low block to allow for swift counters. If your defensive partnership is any good - as Huth and Morgan most certainly were - you'll likely outscore the opponent. On the rare occasions we faced it after changing styles (Palace and Forest spring to mind), It was utterly painful watching teams turn us over in exactly the fashion we had made history doing during the darkest days under Rodgers. The days of lumping to a target man are long over - tease the high line outwards and play off the last man with pacy forwards and tricky wingers and you'll get chances all day. Anyone who believes that counter attacking football is boring is quite frankly not a real fan of the sport.
  14. At the very least get the extension finished. Imagine the scenes when we rock up to play Palace in our first game and unveil a statue of him doing the Eagle in front of the imposing structure of the Chat Shit, Get Stand.
  15. Boubakare's having a party Hide the ganja from Soumare
  16. It's nice to see him playing more centrally - no coincidence his upturn in form has come with a change of role. He seems to lack a bit of the pace or trickiness you really need on the wing, but his link up and vision is actually very good, as yesterday demonstrated.
  17. Never mind Owen's record - it's Kevin Phillips who should be quaking in his boots. Three years to go and the oldest goalscorer record tumbles, zimmer frame and all!
  18. Heard Salah's nearing his record and decided nah mate, I'm going to beat it myself
  19. always rated him
  20. They're a very good team but Brighton have looked vulnerable from set pieces this season. I'm curious to see if we target that today with some training ground moves. If we do cause them problems from them it's another feather in RVN's cap whatever the result.
  21. Seagulls look daft in the wind let's make them look well daft
  22. Seeing other average teams turn Man Utd over without breaking a sweat is starting to really open my eyes to the fact that Cooper was committing crimes against football with us to manage to let them comfortably beat us not once but twice. They are absolutely gash and their problems go way beyond whoever is in the dugout. That being said, the silver lining is knowing that our new manager managed to go four games unbeaten in charge of these absolute shitlords!
