was it rumour or confirmed there is a modest relegation release clause around what we paid plus around 5m?
-
Exactly, which is why we continue to make so many mistakes and appear to have no strategy.
-
Or you have a DofF who during the interview process gets assurances about what would be different - like recruitment of a specific defensive coach, players with correct attributes and makes clear job offer is conditional to working within such a framework. But as we have Rudders none of that would happen.
-
The only reasonable justification for failing to change the leadership structure is that lessons have been (really) learned and discernible changes are being implemented which will deliver improved outcomes. And yet….. There has been no acknowledgment of the relegation (2nd in 3 years) 6 weeks on from our fate being known. We have another manager indicating he is not being communicated with (except there will have been some as Rudders works from the same base, but clearly RVN frustrated by level of engagement so far). No accountability for the failures on and off the pitch. No communication of a new strategy with respect to reducing wage costs / resetting recruitment strategy to focus on youth/players with resale value to improve our financial position There are 5 weeks to preseason and it seems like the club feels they have all the time in the world with admin sharing banal posts like which players are involved in international fixtures. You see likes of Paul Mitchell (outgoing DofF, Newcastle) being available now and you despair, knowing there is no prospect we would ever look at someone like him to replace Rudders. The fact we appear close to selecting a new manager indicates Rudders ain’t going anywhere. get a grip Top.

I am still not convinced that Brussell is that right man, but trying to search for some, small signs of hope, recent media speculation suggesting he would bring in a different backroom team such as Pedersen from Sheffield Weds may indicate he has learned a bit about what his weaknesses are and he has some plan to try and fix them. LCFC eyeing Sheff Wed Asst Mgr to join Russell Martin Pedersen's background includes working with the youth set-ups at RB Salzburg - so would suggest he is a developmental coach willing to promote youth. He has worked with Röhl at Sheffield Wed and before as part of the Red Bull group, so would hopefully help with setting up the defence etc etc. .......would still prefer Röhl or Musilic mind.

So if they back a winner we may be able to pay RVN off(and announce), but if Rudders placed the bet maybe not ;D -
Agreed. It’s this sort of thing and what Chelsea have done with buying / selling hotels to themselves which shows it’s one rule for them and another for everyone else. The powers that be don’t want anyone outside a favoured few competing at the top table.

Thanks. Does a scholarship deal prevent the likes of L’pool poaching the player and falling back on a tribunal to agree a fee (thinking of the Nyoni case - where we are still to be paid I think)?
-
Good news if true, though I thought player had to be 17 to sign a professional deal.
-
Will be great in the Championship apparently
-
There Club has taken decisive steps though and unlike the last time in the EFL, you would expect them to be prepared and ready to hit the ground running. Whether he is successful remains to be seen but, I would say they are ahead of us.

can't blame him tbf

Sigh

No reason not to give Evans and Monga a start / at least significant minutes (45m minimum) but, expecting RVN goes with the conservative choice of Ayew, Daka.

You are absolutely right that there is risk with any decision (stick/twist), especially if the people making the decision have failed (repeatedly) before. That doesn’t mean it would wrong to move on from RVN tho. -

we all know it is probably already decided (and will be Brussell or Dyche) -
pool even smaller if we wont pay a release fee (Rohl).

One of the problems with giving RVN 8-10 games next season is that comes with the Club bringing in his players and committing to his style of play. When Top and Co then decide to change course, which is more likely than not, you can guarantee the next manager won't be having the players and will have a different footballing philosophy and the doom cycle continues. Shake hands tomorrow and kick on. -

Maybe but you would like to think both sides could mutually agree something earlier. RVN knows he is leaving. The Club knows. What is stopping it being announced - only money and PSR implications probably. The main thing is the new man, whoever that is, is going to need to time to implement plans, bring in backroom staff and players......unless this has all being going on in the background.
