Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)
honeybradger replied to jonny_wright's topic in Transfer Talk
Forgot about that one, what is he doing there . The hands up afterwards as well ffs. I see our future this season in those highlights if we dont take this opportunity to shift Faes (and Daka). It doesnt look pretty. -

Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)
honeybradger replied to jonny_wright's topic in Transfer Talk
If you think Wout Faes is above championship level then I dont know what to tell you. Pick a random championship highlights from 23/24 and there is almost always a gaff from him and Vestergaard. Watch Faes in the highlights of this Milwall game, constantly out of position. Still a bombscare even at championship level. People seem to have convinced themselves that those two were Baresi and Maldini last time in the championship when they were just as shakey as ever. We will seriously struggle to get promoted with either of those two at the back. Nelson on loan at Oxford last season was just as good or better than those two in 23/24. -

And Faes has looked off the pace many times for us over his contract. Over the course of a season I back Nelson more. -

We all know how bad Wout Faes is. Championship or not he has no composure whatsoever and instead of owning his mistakes he blames everyone around them. Fans value 'leadership' in centrebacks where they make the players around them better, Wout Faes makes everyone around him worse due to his erraticism and temperament yet for some reason you cant hold it against him. We need our defense to be a unit and you cant get that with Faes. -

Faes is a serious donkey, that used to be common knowledge amongst our fans. We have had him for 3 seasons now, we know what we're getting with him and it's not very good. The more Faes plays this season the more the consensus will return to him not being good enough, it's just this 'clean sheet' nonsense where everyone decides to have selective amnesia about all the bad times we have had with our worst players. -

Actually insane to see the Sevilla fans hoping that Soumare comes back. Is the player who went on loan to Sevilla the same one that we have?

The issue with King Power hasnt been lack of money spent, it has been money spent poorly. -

Happy about the transfer news, worried about Faes's safety as a human being. He might genuinely get executed if he has a game like that Liverpool one for them. -
Not Nelson!

Victor Kristiansen (an option for Forest, Percy.)

Selling him for £10mil is as good as a new signing to be honest. Let's not get our hopes up though. -

You ok mate? This is good business for us, Mcateer wasnt doing much for us anyway. If we had turned down that bid most of the fanbase would rightly been up in arms. -
Kasey McAteer (gone to Ipswich, official. 12m.)

Given the state of our squad hopefully not lol. -

Ipswich fans saying he cant be any worse than Jack Clarke and Philogene. I remember our fans were raving over them not too long ago. -

Hopefully he does well. Good lad who deserves to have a good career. It was the right time for us to part ways though it feels like. -
Potentially choudhury and Justin as well.

Great deal for us, hopefully we dont spend it on rubbish. -
There are loads of midfielders who are just as good on the ball as Winks (or even better honestly) that are also solid defensively that are also available for £5mil or less. He is seriously not special in any way, there is a reason clubs aren't rushing to sign him despite clearly wanting out. Pelle Mattson Otto rosingren Yacine Titraoui Winks is seriously mediocre in comparison to the best on the market across the European leagues and is incredibly overrated by our fanbase. Attitude problems or not we should get him out and bring someone better in. The question is not whether we can replace Winks with better, the question is whether we will be able to find a buyer for Winks because no one actually wants him. (Also whether Rudkin would be able to identify a better replacement).
-
Yh wingback is probably his best position. He would be better off being the extra man on the wing as well being able to make runs into the box rather than being expect to take his man on.
-
Kone has scored 1 league goal since January. We might be willing to spend money on someone who's more clearly worth it.
-
Yes Winks looks good in comparison to Skipp and Soumare but if you compare him to what's available on the market for what we would sell him for (£5mil) he's not up to par.
-
There are midfielders available for reasonable fees who can pass and protect the backline at the same time. It's not like these two traits are exclusive.
-
What an offensive thing to call someone! Im not BCDR's dad and cant stand Skipp and Ayew but I do think midfielders should help to protect the backline.
-
He doesn't tackle, he doesnt win the ball back, he doesnt run, doesnt carry the ball well, isnt a goal threat, isnt good in the air. All he is good at is passing and he's not exceptional at it either. He also has a tendency to give the ball to the opposition in dangerous positions. He's very limited im sorry to say, he was good for a period under Maresca but we need better rounded midfielders than him going forwards. Bad attitude or not his ability simply does not justify his wages.
