That's gonna happen anyway - difference is we get less money in our current position. All clubs have this issue, even the very top ones now as the gentleman's agreement between them has been broken so they're poaching from each other as well.

If we were in the Championship now, he would still likely go - only if we were in the PL might we have any chance of keeping him. It’s simply how the football hierarchy works, and good for us that he signed a contract. The difference is the fee we can command - it will be less given our current position, even if there is a bidding war.

Mavididi, Reid and Skipp are a waste of time, get rid and finish draining the swamp! So negative in their play. Thomas is still a liability, albeit his set pieces are decent. And a Souttar/Okoli partnership doesn’t work with RM’s style of football - you need a confident passer to break the lines. Positives were Braybrooke, JJ and Watson looked decent when he came on. Clearly need a striker as well.

I don't see Okoli working well with Souttar in RM's system, he'll want a good passer alongside him with pace. That why he's saying that we're going to have to go into the market, can see the club getting a centre-half who's comfortable on the ball on loan.

Nelson wouldn't be a book loss as he came through our youth system. I'd see your point if wages were an issue but they aren't in Nelson's case. It's no way the same as not selling a player like Thomas where the potential ceiling is so low.

This is the thing with decisions, you should judge them on the basis of the facts at the time. Nelson's valuation is higher, and Torino tried to low-ball us so the club rightly rejected the bid. Doesn't make it a bad decision. If you crossed the road and someone went through a red light illegally and got hit, would you say that's a bad decision?

I think Maguire said £100m was a fair valuation for the club in his podcast?

Even if Nelson's injury needs a long recovery, we still must prioritise a striker. That and the goalkeeper positions are the two key ones. Thought we played well for large parts of the game, especially first half. The press was very good and we created lots of chances. Braybrooke was excellent. I noticed that the team started passing backwards into our own half more after half-time, and Genoa's press was better so when they got the ball, we were gifting them good positions. That needs to be addressed - there will be moments when that is necessary but it was happening far too often, especially from Reid and Mavididi. It was frustrating seeing the team get into good positions and not going to the byline to get a cross in. But important to remember we were playing a Serie A side, and made them look ordinary for much of the game.

Agree, we still need a goalscorer but think it might well be a loan given the finances.

If we sign him, Cullen and get a striker/bagsman in on loan, we'll be feasting next season.
